Barcelona vs. Manchester United

They weren't particularly exceptional that night, you just suffered because 3/5 of your back line had a poor game. Would Arsenal have won? I don't know - but we've done it before.
They weren't firing on all cylinders but they looked like they could cut through United any time they wanted to. Messi missed a glorious opportunity when he went through after a one-two with Villa and there were a few others they carved up. They took the foot off the gas for the last 15 minutes or so, but it's hard to deny Barca were imperious when they wanted to be during the game.

We showed a pair of bollocks against them when we played in that first leg..something you've failed to do in two consecutive matches against them
To be fair, it is a whole different game when it's the first leg of a two-leg tie at home vs. a one off final.

Zero shots in the 2nd leg.

The most embarrassing game statistically I've ever seen in European competition.

Pity your bollocks always goes missing in every single other game that actually matters.

The final was even worse - you were on a neutral ground not down to 10, had the same possession and had 0 shots on target (apart from the offside one).

Stats matter so little. If Robin had, at some point in the first half, smacked the ball towards Valdes from 50 yards out, it'd have been a shot, and we wouldn't be having this discussion.

You're so desperate for the 'we did less shit against Barcelona than you' trophy. It will be a long long time before your 0 shots game is repeated in the CL.

We'd give them a much better game over two legs, much better than we gave them in the final, and much better than you did. I'd actually quite fancy us if we could keep it really tight at their place.

But it's by the by.

 What a comeback. You'd give them a much better game over two legs? Based on what? Playing them twice and being battered both times? You were lucky they switched off for the last 20 minutes at Wembley and just played keep ball, or it could have been 5 or 6.

Our incredible home form and their less than stellar performances in away legs.

The tie would hang on how well we parked the bus at Camp Nou.

I'd certainly much rather play them over two legs than in a final.

It was the fecking final with the whole world watching you get shat on from a great height.
So we're only the second best team in Europe, better than being the fourth best team in England I guess. It is annoying knowing that we'd have won the cup if Bendtner could finish though.

Three finals in four years is a pretty good indication we're the second best team in Europe right now.

Enjoy your qualification round.

Two out of the last 3 you got there because you didn't meet them earlier and then got whupped in the final.
Well, and the fact we beat the reigning Champions of Italy and England those years respectively. And whupped some lesser teams in the semi finals if I recall correctly. Remember that? Now that was a whuppin'.

which would be relevant if anyone was arguing that Man United are better than Barca. How does us getting knocked out by Barca prove that we are not the second best team after them?

The argument by Mike dahn sarf is that you're the second best team in Europe since you got to the final. I'm just pointing out that you only did so by avoiding playing Barca until the final.

I see. Well as Cutch says it wasn't exactly a one off and the idea that 3 finals out of 4 can be down to luck of the draw seems more than a little bit flimsy. Not that 'who is the 2nd best team in Europe?' is terribly important anyway of course.

I see you're conveniently forgetting you were absolute dogshite in the biggest game of your season and were it not for an offside goal, you'd have ended the night with 0 shots on target as well on home soil.

Your argument that you'd have had Barca's number over two legs doesn't stack up well either..the reason you've failed against them is your inability to keep hold of the ball and string a few passes together. You're midfield is terrible and would have been politely fecked over the course of two legs.

You're seriously saying if the Rooney goal had been disallowed, the following 55 minutes would have panned out exactly the same way?
