Worried we will sit back and pay for it, Ajax are very good at breaking down defensive teams. Their weakness lies at the back and we need to hit them on the front foot to exploit it. Please be brave Mou. Darmian will be targeted as our weakest position on the pitch and i'd be tempted to play with a back 3 to compensate.

That would probably be reason for Mourinho to set up even more defensive. He might feel that they're too good to take any risks against them.

Then it has to be Fellaini :houllier:
Who despite the constant torrent of abuse has been perfectly fine, not world class, but fine.

I don't get the Fellaini hate. Ok he isn't the level of player we want at the club blah blah but at this moment in time he does a job and generally does it well.

We will no doubt bring in better players over the summer and he will be relegated to cup games and dead rubbers.

    Until then, support the guy.

Is Ajax missing any important players like we do? due to suspensions or injuries?
I believe 1 of their players got a red card against Lyon in the 3-1 loss, think it was their LB. Not sure if he's usually their starting player though.

This game is all I can think about lately.

For those of you going, do you plan to visit the Manchester United Fanzone in Rörstrandsgatan?

If so, how do you get in? Do you just need a valid match ticket?

You can guys can look at Ajax style a little bit alike of Barcelona, but just with their B-team.
Passing game, starting from the back. Fluid in attack, quick passes.

Leftback - Riedewald or Sinkgraven, Sinkgraven was out with injury and is a made leftback, as he is a LM. Riedewald is makeshift LB as he is a LCB. Both young. Sinkgraven has been our first option for LB.
LCB - De Ligt, 17 years of age, can be naive cause he is young, was a bit unlucky to concede penalty. Is not very fast on first meters. Will go into midfield like Vertonghen.
RCB - Sanchez, our Colombian rock at the back. Bit like Bailly. Agressive, athletic, aerial threat. Not the best of passer, but like Bailly.
RB - Veltman, who gets easy cards, was substituted today to net get a red card. Otherwise Tete will play, who is fast and is a very good tackler.

CDM - Schone, has a wonderful freekick, able to score from 30 meters. Not a standard CDM as he is more creative and thinks more forward. Can be a bit nonchalant.
LCM - Ziyech, has a great free kick. Is very good a tthrough passes. If he is in his element, than he is a joy to watch.
RCM - Klaassen, our captain, engine and leader of the squad. Work his ass off. Will arrive in the box alot. Has a good finishing shot and eye for where to be.

LW - Younes, tricky little fellow. Will cut inside alot. Tracking back not his strong points and can get stuck in dribbling. But a threat constantly nonetheless.
ST - Dolberg, a bit Zlatan junior and already known here on the caf. Has a menacing shot. Can hold up play and is tricky. Young lad.
RW - Traore, bit hit and miss on RW. Pacey, nonchalant. Weak shot. Good at aerial duels. Tricky, but in a bad game he makes wrong choices alot.
I have passed this inside info on to the club, thanks. ;)

Seriously though, thanks for the info about who we will be playing :)

I fully expect him to start on Wednesday and give 100% like he always does. Their defenders won't like him getting in their face.

I don't want to see Lingard anywhere near the starting 11 but I'm sure he will be. My team.

    ------------Romero
    Valencia Smalling Blind Darmian
    --------Carrick Herrera
    ----Mata Pogba Mhkitaryan
    -----------Rashford

Fellaini and Martial to come on.
That is the team I would play, but as you alluded, it will be Lingard for Mata and Fellaini for Carrick.

The way Jose freaked out when Fellaini had to come off the other day, you know he is a big part of his plans for the Final.

If we lose this final, Jose needs to sack this competition off entirely next season if he can. We need to fully concentrate on improving our league standing, rather than ending up with nothing on either front.

It is not really shite though, is it? If it is Mourinho managing United loses the final against teenaged Ajax than certainly this Cup is above our level. If it is shite, then what we are?

Rainy Season here in Lagos with no football for 2 months is depressing enough...

I'd go so far as to say barring one or two hiccoughs he's generally been quite good this season, two bad moments stand out (Everton and City) that aside he's been good, done what he's asked with no complaint and works quite well in a midfield 3 with Pogba and Herrera. I'd have no issue with him starting whatsoever, in fact I think he deserves to start.

He's had another inconsistent season and he doesn't really compliment pogba and Herrera, when he plays well he is very effective but too often he is dead weight and over last four years he has demonstrated he is too limited and will never be good enough.

He probably does deserve to start on Wednesday which is a reflection of how ordinary this team is rather than anything fellaini has done.

100% disagree , so if we do lose , we just bin it.
If we lose this we are not good enough for the CL , simple has that.
If we end up with nothing, thats not because be played in this, it will be because we were not good enough.
Lets just play the game before we start binning off competitions.

Most important game since the 2009 UCL final.

So much depending on it. Hope the lads get themselves sorted and perform like you would expect from a club like United.

We should be easily beating a team with a 17 year old first choice centre back. If we can't turn up for the final, Mourinho's job should be in question.

The way Mou spoke at his last post-match presser just shows how important this final for him is. A huge game after quite a "meh" season in which Mou's ex-team walked the league under a new manager. Jose will want to prove a point to everyone doubting him, so I am sure he is motivated even more than the players. The stage is ready the lights are on. What a Wednesday it is gonna be.

With the Griezmann revelation this game suddenly became even more essential that we win (if it wasn't already).

2 Trophies on the line here. The only trophy we haven't won and a curly haired little French trophy. So excited now, i really don't wanna see the team that played the final against Southampton turn up, we have no Ibra to bail us out this time.

Got a feeling that Rashford will step up to the plate and win the game for us, the competition has been all his since Ibra's injury.
