We'll rotate massively and Jose will pull a master class over the specialist in failure.

    ------------DDG
    Valencia Smalling Jones Darmian
    -------Carrick Herrera
    ----Mata Rooney Lingard
    -----------Martial

Would like to rest Herrera and Valencia also but for suspensions and injuries.

Pogba, Bailly, Blind and Micky rested. Do we know if Rashford is actually injured or was it just a knock, hopefully he is fine but I'd still rest him.

Remember when we had da silva brothers in midfield and beat them. That was fun.

I think Mourinho's comments are merely brilliant psychological warfare... if we nick an early goal or if it's nil nil headed into the last half hour, he can go all out to win the match with the pressure all on Wenger's shoulders. On the other hand, if Arsenal manage a reverse in form and get ahead early... he can close up shop and say he wasn't really trying.

Should rest as many as we can here.

De Gea, Smalling, Carrick, Rooney, and Martial are sure to come into the starting line-up. Jones and Mata are strong possibilities as well, with Valencia, Darmian, Herrera and Pogba likely having to play again.

    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Jones Darmian
    Herrera Carrick Pogba
    Mata Rooney
    Martial
    ---
Romero; Bailly, Blind; McTominay, Lingard, Mkhitaryan; Rashford

A lot of people saying rest so may guys, but we really can't do that unless Jose is going to play most of Nicky Butt's squad... We can't even send in 18 first team players if Young's injury is as bad as we expect.

At least two from Valencia, Darmian, and Blind has to play again - simple as that. Pogba has just missed two games and usually plays all the time, I'd be surprised if he's rested. If we are to rest a central midfield player it'd be Herrera, but that means not going 433 which I seriously doubt will be the case in this game. If Young was fit I think we'd go with three at the back, same if Shaw was available.

We're far, far better than Celta Vigo. They aren't beating us at Old Trafford next week. It might end in a draw, but we're getting to the final. We can afford to play a stronger side against Arsenal and put them out of the top four race indefinitely.

Players i think Mou will rest: Baily, Rashford, Pogba
Definite starters: De Gea, Smalling, Darmian, Carrick, rooney, Martial, Mata

Not the quickest team and Arsenals pace with Sanchez, Walcott, Welbeck etc could pose problems for us.
Think we will look to sit deep and hit them on the counter which has worked against Wengers arsenal for more than a decade now. Would love to see Jose play some of the kids.

Away at the Emirates is one of the games I most look forward to. I can't remember the last time we played well there, though. Even in the 2-1 (i think) win with Rooney scoring the winner on the counter (great goal!) we should've been like 5-0 down by HT with us playing 3 at the back with Blackett in there. It was astonishingly incredible we only conceded one that night.

We'll lose. But when we finish the job against Celta Vigo the following Thursday, I won't give a shite.

I think Pogba and Herrera start this game. I think with Carrick as well.

Rooney, Martial and Mata should start.
Smalling, Jones should start with DDG.

Problem is LB and RB. Shaw, TFM and Youngs season ending injuries within the last week probably means Tony V and Darmian play three games in 7 days.

    So:
    DDG
    Tony Smalling Jones Darmian
    Pogba Carrick Herrera
    Mata Martial Rooney

Can't understand people putting Rooney or Mata in midfield on a 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 formation. Have they played this season there for once? If you said Mkhitaryan or Lingard, who've been occasional fullbacks or wingbacks, I could understand…

Just to be clear, will everyone be ok with Mourinho's selection (let's say, Valencia, Bailly, Blind, Herrera, Lingard, Rashford out of the starting lineup) for the Arsenal game if City drops points against Crystal Palace?

According to M.E.N., these are the players with more minutes in April:

    Bailly 811
    Rashford 684
    Lingard 597
    Fellaini 594
    Carrick 577
    Valencia 561
    Herrera 540

I was surprised by Fellaini's numbers there, but then noticed he started 7/10 games, so one has to admit he become a starter. Also, Carrick has lots of minutes, having only started 5.

If we count the last game (a May one), those have importante numbers too:

    Pogba ± 615
    Darmian ± 570
    Mkhitaryan ± 570
    Blind ± 500

I thought Jose said he's going to play a weakened team? That doesn't look very weakened. No Valencia surely?

FYI, Jose said in the interview after the Celta game that he'll rest players (in the Arsenal game) for the second leg of the semi-final.
Sounds like he's accepted that top 4 is essentially dead and Europa is by far a better and easier route to the Champions League.

I don't care about this game, just no injuries please.

Why on Earth would you play Rooney?

I can't see that to be honest; all Man Utd managers have Arsenal's number, and Jose knows how to beat any so-called big team

agreed- think back to when Liverpool almost won the league and he put out a team everyone thought would be run over, and that team caused Steven Gerrard to slip :D

Mourinho can be ultra-negative but he knows how to win

We have no choice mate! If Rashford's getting rested for the second leg, which he should and will be, Martial and Rooney HAVE to start on the left and central. Or vice versa. Young is injured, otherwise I'd have him in instead of Rooney.

Jose is NOT going to play a half-dozen kids, people need to stop thinking this is going to happen. We're gonna be surprised how many senior players start this game. Tuanzebe MIGHT play, I hope he does.

Are we expecting some kid at one of the full back or midfield positions?

I'm expecting Tuanzebe as center-back, although not sure in which position specifically or if we play 3 at the back. If both Pogba and Herrera are rested, then Willock or McTominay have a chance to start too.

In short, we'll feature a relatively fresh team of out of shape players.

I think Tuanzebe, Willock and McTominay might play a part. The rest didn't even train with the 1st team recently to start with.

I really hope we field our strongest side for this but unfortunately this won't happen, hope players don't relax over it and still fight for it, but feels like we pretty much gonna lose this one.

I think arsenal are going to continue with their something new system which they have tried with 3 at the back and 2 wingbacks .

We should play the same as well, And still be fighting on all fronts or atleast not to loose and still exploit the space behind the wingbacks and have some attacking presense. Its a absolute pity that our players get inured in every game they play, and i was frustrated with new injuries specially ashley young and shaw . Younf would have been perfect player for either of wingback role .

    I'd go with a 343 or a 352 ,

    ------Rooney -----Martial------Mata/lingard-------

    Darmian---- Carrick --------Pogba/ander-------Valencia

    ----------Blind------------Smalling----------Bailly

    ------------------------De gea-------------------------

In a 343 would prefer pogba more

    352

    -----------Rooney--------martial----------

    ---------------------mata---------------------
    Darmian-----Carrick----Herrera-----Valencia

    ---------Blind--------Smalling-------Bailly----

    ----------------------De gea-------------------

In a 352 Pogba can be rested while mata adds more creativity and passes.

Haha, forgot about that. Maybe Rooney further back in that case?
I think Rooney will start on the left. Rashford needs rested for EL return leg. I think we'll see

    Rooney Martial Mata
    Pogba Herrera
    Carrick
    Darmian Blind Smalling Valencia
    DDG

Rashford, Mkhitaryan, and Jesse off the bench.

If Herrera plays.. Just stick him on Sanchez the whole game. Battle half won right there.
