My God these matches have lost their edge over the years.
Such a shame, I'm about as excited for this as I was for Swansea at home.

I think he is trying to say that he cares about this match a lot.
Either that, or English may not be his first language.
It's an American thing. It was explained a few posts after mine where they have shortened a famous phrase to the point where it actually says the opposite of what they want to say.

We're gonna play a reserves team and still win. They got a lucky last-minute equaliser last time, but for some reason I'm always confident about beating Arsenal and Jose has bullying Wenger perfected down to a tee.

My place gets American interns over all the time and every single one of them says it, it's become my least favourite thing about America.

It's not over, city are 1 point above and they also drop points they are against crystal palace who can make them droppoints while liverpool too can always drop points , If we beat arsenal or even draw we still have chances ,so we have to stay close as much as we can because you never know what can happen in a final.
I know there is still a chance. My point is that players will be rested for Europa league at this point. The focus on top 4 being a primary target is over; it's obviously still achieveable if the bench performs.

37-22 will be the final scoreline, ofcourse that is blud-fam haha. Probably a 1-1 bore draw which sits well with me, don't care about the league after such a strong EL showing.

There is no A or B team in this squad, and many of the bench are themselves injured or suspended, Still we have to find a system and a team capable to still win the game at arsenal and thus players like pogba should be involved in the game because he can still affect the game with one moment of brilliance.

Players like herrera and Bailly can use some rest.

I'm worried that we might just sack in the league and put all our eggs into the Europa League basket. Not sure I feel entirely comfortable with that. Not for any ideological reason, just because I don't think the Europa League is going to be that straightforward. I'd like us to have a fallback option, even if it is a small chance.

The league isn't in our hands anymore, the EL still is

I know, I don't disagree with that. But just because it's in our hands we shouldn't take it for granted. Top 4 was in our hands until we messed it up at home against Swansea, so we shouldn't assume that we'll beat Celta Vigo at home, let alone Ajax (probably) on a neutral ground. That's why I'd prefer us to still compete for that top 4 spot in the league.

Why on earth risk an injury to Pogba just to beat a crap Arsenal side?

I don't see the logic. Look at the long game here people.
I feel it's more that we don't have anyone to replace him in midfield (with Fellaini banned), and Herrera has played a lot more minutes lately. I'm expecting a midfield two of Pogba/Carrick, with Herrera coming on to replace the former after about 60/70 minutes.

Mou has his say on match selection-
We are going to try," Mourinho said. "We are going to try. We are not going to Arsenal to say ‘beat us’, or ‘beat us 5 or 6-0’, we are going there to fight for a result.
"But, it’s impossible. I cannot do it in another way. If Celta was playing with their best team, if Celta was fighting for important things in La Liga, we would go in the same circumstances, but I cannot now play with the same team that played here, and then repeat again on the next Thursday.

"So, we have to be human with the players, we have to be sensible and common sense in relation to our situation in the Premier League, and I think the last match against Swansea was last our last chance to fight for top four, so I am going to rest players, sure."

In the open section of his press conference, Mourinho stressed: "The players are in accumulation with lots of minutes because we played nine matches in April and now this one. So 10 [games] in four-and-a-half weeks. The players in that accumulation are not going to play this weekend."

"In relation to the Europa League it’s very important they have come back on time. We have two matches in one week against Celta and so it is important to have everyone back.
    "

I would be amazed if Jose plays any of the kids in this game. Maybe Tuanzebe might get a run at right back (depending on whether he feels Darmian or Blind need a rest). Martial, Mata, Smalling, Jones and De Gea will come back in.

Midfield almost has to be Carrick, Herrera and Pogba. Playing Willock or McTominay in a game like this would be too big a step.

I'd love to see ArsenalFanTV's reaction if we beat them while playing with kids.

For me one of the best parts of every season is beating Arsenal. Hope we are up for it tomorrow.

    De Gea
    Tuanzebe Smalling Jones
    Lingard Carrick Pogba Mkhitaryan
    Mata
    Martial Rooney

Everyone is saying we will rotate heavily but I don't see what second team options we even have. Maybe one of Smalling or Jones comes in, Carrick, Rooney. Martial and Mata aren't really second XI if they feature. It'll be a good enough team to get a result at Arsenal.

I thin Pogba will play because we don't have that many CM and he needs the games after the recent injury. Bailly will definitely be rested.
Surely he needs saving for Europa now??
It's time to think smart, even if it means struggling against Arsenal in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

The win on Thursday has given us a huge chance to reach the Champions League, without the need of a qualifying leg. We need to prioritise that trophy, even if it means fielding a young team against Arsenal.

I'm hoping for something like this.
    -------------DeGea----------------Tuanzebe-Smalling-Jones-Blind
    ----------Carrick-Herrera----------Mata-----Mkhitaryan---Rooney-------------------Martial------------------------

I don't really mind who starts, but we need to use our subs wisely. Carrick will start I'm sure, and whoever starts out of Pogba/Herrera should be subbed at the 60th minute for whoever doesn't start. They will be fit enough to do 60 OK, but it's after that point you start tiring and that's when the injuries can happen.

Defensively I think Bailly needs a rest, but then again so does Darmian. We don't have any other fit LB now with Young and Shaw injured, so we need to be careful with him. Perhaps Blind will start at LB with Jones/Smalling CB.

People putting Tuanzebe at RB, I think that's pretty crazy considering he's up against Sanchez. Maybe start Valencia and then sub him at the 60th also for Tuanzebe once Sanchez has slowed down a little.

Striker position we are so short, depending if Rashford has recovered I would probably start Martial, use Rooney/Mata/Lingard behind them.

Of course I want us to get a positive result here, but the main thing is we need to keep fresh for Thursday. I can see us parking the bus and just hitting them on the counter when we get the chance, similar to how the City game panned out.

Regardless of the selection, I fancy us to do a job on Arsenal.

If Sanchez has a good day, any of our RB would struggle against him, and I'd like to think Jose will have some sort of plan for him. A similar one to Hazard vs Herrera would be nice.

Arsenal do seem to be playing 3-4-3 recently, so a similar gameplan could definitely work. I Think Sanchez is smarter than Hazard in that sense though, he would thrive rather than wilt being man marked. Worth giving it a try though.

Any particular reason posters are choosing Tuanzebe over TFM at RB? I feel the latter is better-suited to play against Sanchez..

Its going to make for another interesting match for sure.
But I'm always confident in games against Arsenal, they are the weakest of the top 6 Imo.

Realistically, we need 3 points here. A draw is no good for either side, but it will end Arsenals season and we have Europa to fall back on. For that reason, I believe Jose will shut up shop like he did against City.

Just watched the AFTV and Robbie actually makes a very good point. Jose in typical fashion has been very cunning in his approach to this game, especially in press conferences.

Arsenal (and Wenger) are a team under pressure, and Jose publicy stating that he's going to rest players and that the Europa is his priority only exacerbates that pressure on Arsenal to win. Whilst many of their fans don't really care anymore, the pressure is still there for Wenger and his players. We all know what happened the last time they came up against our kids, and that'll play on their minds going into this game. Jose won't really want to lose this game from a personal standpoint. Don't be fooled by his 'peace' comments, he hates Wenger's guts and would love nothing more than to thrash them. Our players have the pressure lifted off them somewhat because if we draw or even lose we can simply say our attention is firmly on the Europa. It gives us a little more freedom in that regard. Nevertheless, I hope that doesn't translate to complacency.
