I just realised it's likely we could see Pogba, Mata, Martial and Mkhi together which could be fun.

I would be amazed if Jose plays any of the kids in this game. Maybe Tuanzebe might get a run at right back (depending on whether he feels Darmian or Blind need a rest). Martial, Mata, Smalling, Jones and De Gea will come back in.

Midfield almost has to be Carrick, Herrera and Pogba. Playing Willock or McTominay in a game like this would be too big a step.
Tuanzebe facing Sánchez directly is as a big call as you can get. I though perhaps he could dislocate Jones there, and put the youngster in a more central position.

For those who didn't notice, Mourinho said explicitly: “the last match against Swansea was last our last chance to fight for top four.”

Hope that means we're resting players tomorrow and focusing only on the Europa.

His phrase actually continued with: “… so I am going to rest players, sure.”

I think playing as a purely defensive full back in a defensive system Tuanzebe would be fine. He is very talented but inexperienced. McTominay and Willock are inexperienced but nowhere near the level required.

If Mourinho fields a very depleted starting lineup and we suffer an earlier goal, I can see us having a heavy defeat.

Yeah, I mean, inexperienced and going against Sánchez is not what I would call “fine”. But if he was trained specifically and managed to contain him, then I say he could well secure a squad position for next season.

Mitchell, Olosunde, McTominay & Willock have all travelled. @Niall if you have time, mind adding Olosunde & Mitchell into the selection? Cheers!

This is now why I wish we didn't sell one of Schneiderlin or Schweinsteiger - preferably Schneiderlin.

I mean, Jose has now realised we play better with a three man midfield, but we only have four natural centre midfielders.

With Fellaini suspended, our only option - if we play with a midfield three tomorrow, is Carrick, Herrera and Pogba.

This is why I think next season, we need at least one, if not, two centre midfield additions. Probably two if you take Carrick's age in account. That, or maybe promote Pereira and use him in centre midfield, when needed.

In terms of the game, Arsenal play with a 343, so I think we'll see something similar to Chelsea in the way we set up.

Think we'll see a very disciplined performance, with all of our players knowing their jobs.

Expect to see Smalling and Jones playing. Most likely Valencia too, as Young is likely to be out.

If Fellaini was playing, I think we'd see a man marking job by Herrera on Sanchez, with Fellaini and Pogba pushed further forward and Herrera holding.

As it is, like I said, Fellaini is out, meaning our only other natural choice for playing the holding role is Carrick, who I feel would struggle to man mark Sanchez.

Maybe we could bring in Phil Jones to do a job like we've seen in the past against the likes of Fellaini, Ronaldo, Ozil, etc.

Up top, I expect to see those who didn't start against Celta. So Rooney, Martial and Mata in a narrow three, although it lacks the pace and work rate we saw against Chelsea in Lingard and Rashford.

Although a few players will be rested tomorrow, I think we'll still see a very good side out. A side that will cause Arsenal a few problems.

Gone with a 1-2 win to us.

Valencia the only senior player(who isn't injured) that hasn't travelled

    DDG
    Darmian-Jones-Smalling-Blind
    Carrick-Herrera-Pogba
    Mkhitarya-Martial-Rooney

is my guess. Can't see any of the youngsters starting although Tuanzebe, Mitchell, Olusende, McTominay and Willock have travelled. Would like to see Pogba and Carrick get a rest but then our midfield are options thin.

Hopefully Tuanzebe and Mitchell start in defense.

Useless game now, I'll change my formation.

    De Gea
    Darmian - Jones - Smalling - Blind
    Carrick - Rooney
    Mikhi - Mata - Lingard
    Martial

Mitchell?! Yes! I hope he plays. I'm not expecting him to step up to the level required right away but I've loved his transition into a LB.

Not that I expected any different but I'd have loved to see Harrop in the squad, too.

He just got fit, he will not get injuries every game, No risk no rewards.

If we were fighting for the title and champions league we'd have to play same amount of situations. Herrera can be rested too .
There is no trophy or glory in coming in #4, so it is a very different situation. Besides, with our goal difference, we need to advance 5 points over City or Liverpool in the remaining 3 games. Even if it's not mathematically impossible, it will never happen. That Swansea tie was one too many.

Harrop will leave at the end of this season I heard so no point including him anyway.

    I would play this XI

    De Gea
    Darmian - Tuanzebe - Smalling - Mitchell
    Carrick - Willock
    Mikhi - Rooney - Lingard
    Martial
Basically rest everyone that need to be rested. Main concern would be the left axis of Mitchell/Willock/Lingard but I feel it's more important to rest Herrera/Pogba and Willock is a quite robust player anyway, hopefully will cover a lot of ground.

Ideally I would not want to play Darmian as well but Osolunde is very raw defensively and it would be too much for Tuanzebe.

@khoazany @top1whoisman - How have they been doing lads? Obviously decent enough but are they really ready?

Hard to say if anyone is "ready" but Mitchell would be one of the most "ready" from the options that we can choose from if you ask me, Osolunde has some interesting attributes but very raw, would be worse than playing Varela last season.

It's been inevitable but I'm still gutted. Along with Lawrence they were two players I really enjoyed watching from our academy that never really got a chance.

I like this but Pogba in place of Rooney.

Jose can bring every youth player we have, he is not risking losing his unbeaten PL record over Wenger.

    He's taken 22 players.

Only Tuanzebe out of the 4 youngsters will make the bench.

    Jose is fooling everybody.

I expect Rooney to start all of our remaining games in the league tbh.

But we are just 1 point away from top four, do you believe everything Jose says to the press? Jose will make his team fight it out for top 4 while it's still possible to make it to top four, anything can happen in the finals of EL we never know. Fellaini might play and get sent off in the finals.

Even if, so what? What's negative about having 9 players from our own academy travelling to a first team match?

No, I don't think he did, it's just that the enormous run of games had us playing much more defensively than usual. We still played only with two central midfielders in like half of those games, mostly in 4-2-3-1.

    Nothing whatsoever.

There is no point getting excited over him taken players who won't even make the bench. Jose didn't play Tuanzebe when we were 2-0 up at Burnley, what on earth makes you think he will play the likes of Mctominay and Mitchell who are average and will likely be off in the summer? This isn't some meaningless league cup game.

I'm excited for the lads, a great experience for them I'm sure, regardless of them playing or not.
