A lot of people have put Falcao in their line-ups.
This guy is injured...is he not?
He didnt play in our last game.
He didnt play in Columbia's last game.
Where are people getting the idea that this guy will be able to start against Arsenal?
Been in training for a week, didn't go with Columbia so he can get fully fit. Probably won't start but there is a chance of course.

If a player has been out for a few weeks, when he starts training, he wont immediately get 1st team starts.
And bearing in mind LvG is treating Falcao with kid gloves, I would be shocked if Falcao started.
I think he may be on the bench, at best and may get a run out for 20 minutes.
For the remaining 70 minutes, I'd say that it is odds on that RvP will start as lone striker and Rooney just behind him, in the No.10 role.

Without the following 1st team players: Blind, De Gea, Rojo, Rafael, Carrick,
And with the following 1st teamer barely able to play: Herrera, Falcao,
...we are there for the taking.

We are going to have to rely on players who havent played in a while and are just returning from injury.

I think Arsenal will score 3 times.
So, to win, I think we will need to score 4 times and I just dont see us able to do this.

I think the only chance we have is for LvG to come up with a very dirty/cunning plan - something out of the Mourinho playbook.
Similar to how Mourinho played against Liverpool last year and won.

Was confident before the international break, not so much now. Rooney, Di Maria and whatever striker we play will need to be on top form. Not to mention the defence

    Bore off.

United are United and we will win. Falcao to come off the bench and get a brace!!

Arsenal supporters aren't exactly sounding confident. The optimists are hoping for a draw:

    http://arsenal-mania.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=324557

Which is a shame, because a win is always more satisfying when rival fans spend the week leading up to it saying how they're going to smash you.

Still, looking forward to this game more than any other so far this season for some reason. Just have this feeling it's going to be epic.

I was starting to get pessimistic reading some of the injury updates. Then I remembered we were playing Arsenal.

If Carrick isn't fit then a diamond with Fellaini, Herrera, Di Maria and Rooney with Januzaj / RVP (or Falcao) up top. I think Shaw and Rafael can cope with whoever Arsenal put out wide. We should at least win the battle in the middle of the field and hopefully RVP/Januzaj decide to pull their fingers out of their behind while playing for us and play how they are capable of.

I think we should play the diamond even versus big teams. The only difference I would make is that instead of 2 strikers we should play with one (RVP/Falcao) and a player in a free role, like Ronaldo in Madrid. It could be Rooney, Mata or Januzaj depending on who play as No.10.

    De Gea/Lindergaard
    Rafael/Valencia - Jones/Smalling - Rojo/Evans - Shaw/Blackett
    Blind/Carrick
    Herrera/Fellaini --- Di Maria/Fletcher
    Mata/Januzaj
    Falcao/RVP - Rooney/Januzaj (free role)
But if we continue playing with wide players I wouldn't play 4141 or 433. I prefer to play 4231 becuase it allows Di Maria/Mata/Januzaj to play wide and centrally. Mata used to play really well in that position at Chelsea.

    De Gea/Lindergaard
    Rafael/Valencia - Jones/Smalling - Rojo/Evans - Shaw/Blackett
    Herrera/Fellaini - Blind/Carrick
    Mata/Januzaj - Rooney/Mata - Di Maria/Januzaj
    Falcao/RVP
    Which formation do you prefer?

    I prefer the 2-2-4-2-2-2-2-2-4 to the 2-2-4-2-2-2-4-2-2.

    Rafael............Jones........Smalling.........Shaw
    ...............Carrick..........Herrera...................
    ........Mata.........Rooney...........Di Maria........
    ........................Van Persie...........................

Would love to see Falcao insted RVP, but i'll go with this side.
if we can put that team out, we've got every chance.

why is it though, I suspect Rafael, Jones and Carrick won't be available.

I'm not Fellaini's biggest fan but I think he could be useful against Arsenal, who famously can't defend set-pieces to save their lives. I know he's not got a header for us yet but it seems like we should make use of that string to his bow a bit more.

That said, I'd like to see Herrera start too. If Carrick isn't fit we'll have to play them both anyway, I suppose. The injury situation is disastrous but I think we've still got enough to beat Arsenal, given how shambolic they can be at the back. We've just got to make sure our defence is less shambolic than theirs...

I honestly like how much of an attacking team we are when we are playing the 41212 but i feel like we don't have the right players to play with a right balance hence i would opt for the 4231 with our wide forwards cutting in to have a shot or two. Mata on the right could turn out to be risky because Gibbs is very good getting forward hence i would prefer Young (if fit) to start. Herrera as a deep-lying playmaker with Fellaini returning as our Box to Box big guy

Is there any chance Jones is fit? He could be an option to sit in front of the defence. If not, I'd be happy with the Big Fella doing the job.

He would do a fine job for the first 15 minutes before getting himself injured again.

We have a problem in the DM role, which Blind normally occupies.
Some people are suggesting that Fellaini can do this.
Isn't this what Moyes attempted to do with Fellaini for the entirety of last season?
Blind then arrived and immediately performed well in that role from game 1.
Can somebody explain why they feel so confident about Fellaini playing as DM?
    Perhaps I am missing something.

We need to try and win this game and we'll need to do this without Blind and posibly De Gea - our 2 best players.
How have other teams beaten Arsenal this year? What strategy did they use?
We should copy their blue print.

    --------------David------------
    Rafael-Smalling-McNair-Shaw
    -------------Carrick-----------
    Januzaj-Herrera-Rooney-Maria
    ------------Van Persie---------

Most likely Fellaini will be in the first 11, which really doesn`t bother me because of decent form lately. But I think our attack shows more mobiltity and creativity with Ander in the team, and Fellaini can instead cause some havoc as a substitute around the 60 minute mark. With Falcao back in training, we have good options from the bench as well, with Mata and Wilson as other potential game changers.

I must say that I am concerned at both Smalling and Shaw starting tonight fot England. With the rate we are picking up injuries, especially at the back, we can't afford to lose either of them for Saturday.

Hmm, instead of those three, should we try with Valencia, McNair and Fellaini ? Maybe to change the formation from 4/2/3/1 to 4/3/3 ? .. It's gonna be interesting to see.

In my opinion Di Maria and Januzaj are to wide in that formation. Also Rooney is better as second striker/No. 10 than CM. I prefer to play 4231 because our wingers would play more centrally.

With the players you proposed it would be something like this:

    David
    Rafael - Smalling - McNair - Shaw
    Herrera - Carrick
Januzaj - Rooney - Di Maria
    Van Persie

im an irritable old man these days, but doing lineups with first names irritates me quite a lot.

It's like what really sh!t smalltime clubs do pre games, to get the fans shouting the surnames, in a pathetic attempt to whip up some fake enthuiasm

Be great if Carrick, Rafael and Evans were back. That ogden article suggests they could be. But the club is so secretive with team news and injuries nowadays that who knows how close certain players are to returning.

I have this nagging voice at the back of my head saying: "Arsenal are due a result against us."

Annoying, but it makes a change from, "Kill 'em all."

I'd love Rooney to get a chance up top for this one, but I doubt it'll happen. He showed against Scotland that when he plays up top he scores goals, and I'm convinced he would have scored just as much, if not more, than RVP had he played up top. He just gives a lot more for me.

That would be my preferred line-up if Di Maria and Carrick are fit for the game.

If Di Maria is not fit, then the diamond:

    De Gea
    Rafael Smalling McNair Shaw
    Fellaini
    Valencia Herrera
    Mata
    Rooney Van Persie

So, if no one recovers, it could be

    Lindegaard

    Valencia
    Smalling
    McNair
    Blackett

    Januzaj
    Herrera
    Fellaini
    Mata

    RVP
    Rooney

Our best chance to register a win against your lot in some time (well, last season was the previous best chance and we cocked that up).

Fully expect you to run out 1-2 winners then.

I know football doesnt work like that and it hasnt have to do aynthing with this game but surely if we managed to beat them and draw last year when we were terrible esp. when we played sedcond time, surely we can grab a bood result now.
Problem is we have a ton of injuries...
But I hope we'll play a big game and win. Rooney is on fire right now, we need to use that.

Hi guys, I’ve got a question, is there any radio who’ll broadcast the game live on Saturday? I’ll be on business trip, and by that time in car, and I would like to follow it live on radio if possible. I tried to find few of it but I think that you can give me better answers than Google “Arsenal vs Manchester United radio”

    Thanks all
