I don't see Rashford playing in this game. That was quite the knock he took on the weekend and could have done some serious damage to his knee. I wouldn't risk him in this one, and Lukaku needs a run. Sanchez needs to get some game time as well, but not sure if he will start this one after pulling his hamstring not too long ago. Either way, I can see some fringe players get a run in this one and I think Arsenal will do the same...

I think there will be maybe two changes, not more. Ole wants word "caretaker" out of his title, so pretty sure he wants to go further in the Cup, and hopefully to win it. And also sure he, as every United fan, wants club to win trophies. Not to mention keeping winning streak, and beating one of the top six. I know it's two games in five days, .but I know we will get to top 3, so no worries, for me at least.

Starting Lukaku is like giving a one man advantage to Arsenal. I'm only hoping that this comment will come to bite me in the ass. I don't mind starting Alexis on the right but this won't happen. I'm desparate to win this. We can rest players against Burnley next week.

I think it'll be roughly the same team again - maybe one or two changes - and then the changes will come in vs. Burnley.

A hybrid 1st and 2nd choice XI, please. Something like this:

    Romero

    Young-Lindelof-Bailly-Dalot

    Pogba-Fred-Herrera

    Sanchez-Lukaku-Martial

Smalling on the bench and comes on for the last 30 mins.

And then for Burnely, swap out Young for Shaw, Lindelof for Smalling, Matic for Herrera (and Matic taking up the 6, moving Fred to Herrera's position), and Martial for Rashford.
I do so hope that this or something like it is the last thing that OGS goes for. To explain we have won 7 on the trot with basically a settled side. If the above were to be implemented then just as an example we would be changing our CB lineup for this game and then changing it again for the following game. Talk about musical chairs. Have we learnt nothing from JM tenure or will we continue to advocate changes purely because we like one player more than another. Surely our recent results speak for themselves and why mess with what is currently a winning formula. You can also add into the mix that Ole wants the job permanently so it would be daft of him to make too many changes particularly given that the Cup is the teams best chance of winning a trophy. All of course in IMHO but I cannot help but scratch my head when I see so many changes being advocated.

I can't watch this now that Norway are playing semi-final against Germany in handball.

Hope we don't start Sanchez and Lukaku together. Can't remember both playing well at the same time.

I get the feeling the way the league is panning out with Chelsea slipping and Spurs losing key personnel, neither team are going to put out their best teams and probably won't be too bothered about going out.

Sad but its the nature of the beast these days. It kinda feels like with FA Cup and League Cup these days if you happen to find yourself in a quarter final or even semi final then teams will actively try to go and win it and only then.

I kind of hope we don't 'rest' anyone for this match.

Really want us to beat Arsenal and try to win the FA Cup this year.

I'd like to see Sanchez on the right playing alongside Rashford and Martial up top. I want to see what he can do in this system when he doesn't have to play with the Lumbering figure of Lukaku.

It brings back nightmares of Mourinho. Not that I blame either of them. But it never worked for us and the trio we have now has the right chemistry and fluidity in their movement. Maybe has Sanchez has more chance to get in over Lingard because of his proven goalscoring records and has previously showed he can play across the front line in his career but I don't have confidence in lukaku to fit in the same way mainly because of lack of pressing/ disruption in build up due to poor touch

Interesting that De Gea didn't board the train for London, as there have been no report of an injury can only presume he's been resting with Burnley next Tuesday in mind.
If he hasn't travelled it will be because Romero deserves the cup games, not because De Gea needs 'a rest with Burnley in mind'.

This is the only realistic trophy Ole can win this season so you'd think he'd put a strong side out tomorrow and yet I can't help but think there will be a few changes to the team.
Hopefully Arsenal play a few squad players.

Jones being more available than Bailly is nonsense.
The only thing Bailly has on Jones is that his name is not Phil Jones, and some are still hoping and waiting for that day he magically becomes a top class center back.
Bailly started ahead of Jones in Mourinho's last game against Liverpool, but warmed the bench in Ole's first two games while Jones was trusted more, started ahead of him and put in two very good defensive performances. Jones took his chance, Bailly got his against Bournemouth and unsuprisingly handed the spot back to Jones. If Jones is a disaster or something, I wonder what Bailly is. Bailly has a long way to go before he should even be considered ahead of Jones.
Bailly the better defender. Ole could have gone with the safer choice for now for defensive stability to start his reign. Surely Bailly will eventually play himself back in the team.

With the way our club love keeping players for as long as possible, I'd be willing to wager that in ten years time, some will still be waiting for Bailly to eventually play himself into the team.
Right now Bailly is fourth best and at most, third choice, and I don't think he will be improving on that anytime soon.

Why has Darmian been removed from the prediction options?

Romero in goal worries me, not because I dont rate Romero - I just don't rate him highly enough to make around 10 important saves in 90mins. Our defence may as well not be there a lot of the time, DDG will be needed here unfortunately.

Changing my prediction to 3-2 Arsenal.

Unless DDG is either ill or injured then this will be the 1st decision Ole has made that I have not agreed with.

We won't win the CL this year so only hope of avoiding a second successive trophy less season is winning the cup.

Balls to giving Romero game time. This is Arsenal away not Burton.

    Fuming if he doesn't play.

Please no Bailly-Lindelof. That would be giving Arsenal an advantage from the start.

Although the Brighton game was horrendous both are better than Jones - 1 game isn't enough to just give up on it. Work with Phelan could help.

We have to start to rest Paul Pogba. He will surely, surely hit 'a wall' at some stage. Guy played through the World Cup.. you know when players do not rest, it is when the chances of injury increase?

Other players have to step up and establish their own say on the team.
