All big games now really. I would love us to have a go in the FA Cup, it is a super competition and we have a great tradition in it. Again, this may be a generational thing, but I find it disappointing that we seem to wish to just dismiss it. For what, finishing fourth ? That's Arsene Wenger success. Good FA Cup runs, and competing for top four is a minimum for a club of our status.

We should rest some players though. Lukaku could have a start. Fred also. Pogs, Matic, Rashford, De Gea. Rest them, they are our 'spine' or backbone and what we do, essentially revolves around them.

It is for others to step up and also contribute now.

Be a good game and a very, very tough game. But we could win, their defence isn't all that. But their forwards are quick, and score goals. Regularly.

Would love it if we've been saving Sanchez for this one, and he's raring to go.

Could be the perfect kick-start to his career here, but I feel I've felt this way before most games he's had for us.

Think this could be a draw, which would be a good result really... Though replays aren't ideal right now.

Can't wait for this, just a shame we were given half the tickets we should have got. They aren't very good but to be fair they've played really well at home in the big games so far so it will be a tough test. Hopefully we can get the win, a replay would be annoying.

Have stopped hoping either of two Arsenal season-ticket mates (yes, I talk to them) are going to offer me a ticket. Seriously though, I can't make my mind up about this game. It's not so much which United turns up but which Arsenal turns up. At their best, they are probably still a bit better than us. I'd like to see Sanchez given a start to see if playing this lot at Emirates can kick-start his United career

I'd say the opposite. If we're at our best I think we come out on top. I'm sure it will be close, regardless.

Arsene Wenger success is undefeated seasons and doubles. Top 4 and FA Cup is for teams that cannot afford to spend hundreds of millions. Its a statement of fact. Wenger was right and its been proven you need big money to consistently challenge for titles.

We've reached two finals in three years winning it once!

Some suggest DDG in this match but I think it would be wrong not to let Romero do it.

It would really be to ask that the world's best goalkeeper substitute should wish to leave us as soon as possible. For me it's a wonder that he is still there, but maybe he has seen before that DDG goes to Madrid?

In my eyes he has been very good when he has been playing and there is always a risk that DDG can hurt himself or get sick, then we will desperately need him.

Otherwise I think we should set up the best possible team and let those who have something to prove, or just need playing time, be substitutes.

If it was to go to a replay, then I hope we give them the bare f****** minimum after the way they have shafted us for those extra tickets that we were entitled to receive.

Having said that, I’d rather we knock them out on Friday which tbh, I think we will. It’s Arsenal at the end of the day.

I think the same. Would take a replay tbh. Yes its an extra game but the cup is probably our only chance for a trophy so wouldn't mind an extra game.

will this go to extra time if we're drawing at full time? Or 90 mins only and a replay? (trying to get travel sorted)
There will be a replay if this is a draw

Hope we play the lines of Romero, lukaku, Fred and Sanchez in this game. These are some very high profile second line of attackers and if we cannot trust them to start and preform against arsenal, then what's the point of having them in the squad.

As it is, the likes of rashford martial and matic looked knackered and in need of a rest. Especially as we need to keep performing in the league

so crossy it goes to a replay after 90 mins?
They play 90 minutes, plus injury time, if the game is tied, the game is over and both teams leave the ground. A replay is then played at Old Trafford in a couple of weeks time. If that game is also tied at 90 minutes plus injury time, it goes to extra time and penalties.

It would be fine very much doubt arsenal will play at full strength
I think they will. Arsenal just like ManUtd have good enough rest between games since Jan 1/2. Next they will play Cardiff at home and Manutd play Burnley at home, so I think both teams will play stronger teams. In our case good chance it will be Lukaku, Sanchez, Fred, Bailly starting and then rest all first choice players.

You're wondering why a goalkeeper who was benched at Sampdoria is happy to sit behind De Gea for a hefty salary? I like him and he performed very well for us but I feel that people seriously overestimate his value.

I am always pessimistic, I don't know why.
I have no idea what kind of team we will put out.

I couldn't care less about the FA cup. Need to focus on top 4. Would rest Matic, Herrera, Martial and Rashford and play McTominay, Fred, Sanchez and Lukaku instead.

I just can't see how they are any better. I am usually quite objective to how shite we are. For us it was more of a case of underperforming for 3 years and the global view/ratings of our players just went downhill. Now that we've won 7 on the trot its a whole different story.

The truth is that even with all our weaknesess (RW, RB, CB and to an extent DM) we are stacked with high quality on all other positions including two so called world class stars (Pogba and Dave) with additional potential stars in Rashford and Martial. We aren't ready to challenge City and Pool without adressing those weak areas but someone like Arsenal? No problem.

I don't understand this mentality. The two are not mutually exclusive.

You're right. They don't have to be. Doesn't mean you can't prioritize one or the other. I'm saying I don't care about the FA cup enough not to rest our best players who have played almost every match so far. Players like Sanchez and Lukaku deserve a run out too.

They played with a gap of 6-7 days since Jan 2nd. That's more than enough rest.

Surprising that few clubs are not in for him. Looks very good GK.

Yeah we'll both play strong teams but I think with minor changes. Mctominay just signing a new deal will probably make him start. Sanchez will start if he's done ok.in training. Would like to see him with Rashford and martial rather than Lukaku. See how he does with more movement around him

Recently people are complaining that the players look 'gassed' at the end of games. If we play our 'strongest XI' against Arsenal and it results in dropped points against Burnley a few days later it's perfectly reasonable to suggest we should have played a rotated side for the cup game. Likewise if we get injuries to key men against Arsenal.

    DDG
    Young Bailly Lindelof Shaw
    Mctominay Fred Pogba
    Mata Lukaku Sanchez

Expect to see something like this.
That's not a good selection imo. Front 3 are good and/or creative players individually but collectively only have 1 pacy (but static abd clumsy) player, 1 agile (but slow) player who leaks possession trying risky passes, and no one who can dribble and beat a man regularly. If we want to see any of them performing well again for us it probably wouldn't be while playing all 3 together. 'Course we might still be able to do it Mourinho style by aiming long balls and crosses at Lukaku's head.

Sanchez and Lukaku need games. Lukaku will definitely start and I expect to see Sanchez too. Not convinced Mata will start so that could be Lingard to give us a bit more pace.

I predict Rashers and Matic will definitely be rested. Herrera might start and Martial has a decent chance of starting but I think my prediction won't be far off. Time will tell.

I don't dispute your reasoning and wouldn't be too surprised if your prediction turns out to be accurate. On paper that's a very good and much more proven front 3 than our current 1st choice. I just don't think it'll turn out too well.
