Don't think that's true either with James Milner still active.
Yeah, Milner has 599 games in the Premier League. To reach 35,000 minutes he would have to average only 54 minutes pr. appearance, which sounds pretty low.

I find it quite strange how we're not competing for the title,
and yet every game feels like it's a must-win one, thanks to the table being so congested,
with Newcastle and Arsenal upping their game to new levels respectively, and Spurs and Chelsea expectedly being in and around the top 4...

Feels like we have to be better than quite a number of teams.
It's nothing new but I guess I got used to being out of the races by the first half of the season, after the dross of the last couple of seasons.

And now suddenly this pressure of facing Aston Villa... blah.

In fairness, it’s our own fault for being in the Europa. This would have likely been a Saturday 3pm kick off anyway.
It had nothing to do with Europa though. Every team will have games that won't be on UK TV over the course of a season.

One of the replies says it's from 2005, when they started recording minutes played data. Either way DDG is not no.1.
Ah that would make sense. I could see it being true that a GK who's been at his club since 2011(?) could have amassed the most minutes of any player since 2005

According to Transfermarkt, Milner has 38691 minutes in the PL, roughly 4000 of those came before 2005

But then Gary Cahill is number three on the list
Quite right, the stupid “Twitter app is better” banner was hiding him for me. For anyone that is interested, the official Premier League stats are as follows:

    Player Statistics

    General: Appearances, Wins, Draws, Losses

Attack: Goals scored, Goals per match

    Teamplay: Assists

    Defence: Own goals

    Discipline: Yellow cards, Red cards

    2006/07 - Present

General: Minutes played, Substituted on, Substituted off

Attack: Shots, Shots on target, Shooting accuracy, Hit woodwork, Big chances missed, Goals from penalty, Goals from freekick, Goals with header, Goals with right/left foot

Teamplay: Passes, Passes per match, Key passes, Short/Long passes, Long balls, Through balls, Crosses, Cross accuracy, Corners

Defence: Clean sheets, Goals conceded, Tackles, Tackle success, Last man tackles, Blocks, Interceptions, Clearances, Headed clearances, Clearances off line, Recoveries, Duels won/lost, Aerial battles won/lost, Errors leading to goal, Penalties conceded

Goalkeeping: Saves, Penalties saved, Punches, High claims, Catches, Sweeper clearances, Throw outs, Goal kicks

    Discipline: Fouls, Offsides

I would have still thought Milner would be above him though so a bit dubious on the stat altogether.

I’m saying that the reason we’re playing Sunday and it’s not on tv is because of the Europa. I’m not saying it’s not on tv because of Europa.

And what a football career he has had and still going strong.
Maybe Ronaldo can learn a few things from him about keeping fit and sharp.

That's a weird criticism considering that Ronaldo is a physical freak with ridiculous fitness until like a year ago, banging in goals for fun well deep into his mid thirties. While Milner by now is every bit a liability as Ronaldo is.

He's not as much of a narcissistic dick, mind.

Is this on telly in Ireland does anyone know?
No. The only difference in the UK rights is Ireland gets an 3pm Saturday game. Other than that it’s exactly the same games as the UK. Having said that, it is on telly if you know how

It was honestly not meant as a criticism of Ronaldo.
    In my view the GOAT.
It was more for him to prolong his career, albeit maybe not at OT.
And yes he was great last season which makes his performances now more disappointing.

Think we can all agree that he's more or less done at this level, and his behaviour has been nothing short of pathetic at points. Just felt like of all the things to criticise him for, not ageing well or a lack of dedication is pretty far down the list.

Either way, I get your point and it's at the same time a compliment to the remarkable career Milner has had. The twat.

Cheers, I can find it alright but I was thinking of heading to the pub the watch it, looking less likely now.

Boy, do we need a win here. With Chelsea-Arsenal and Spurs-Liverpool this is a great opportunity to gain some points.

I fear a loss today. Think the new manager bounce, Villa always raising their game against us and our lack of scoring will finally cost us. 2-1 Villa.

Think we will beat them comfortably in Cup but not looking forward to this one. Hopefully I’m wrong and another De Gea, Martinez master class have us hold on to a one nil win.

Have to admit the ingredients are there today, we need to score first basically, and maybe be nice to get a decision? One of those games where we could nick it with a pen or free kick.

Was our record against Emery's Arsenal bad as well?

Just shows that currently, Manchester United are seen as irrelevant.
Regardless of form United are always relevant to the tv companies, they're on more often than not which demonstrates that, but other teams also have to be shown in the limited slots that are available.

It’s not that at all, they’ve an obligation to show so many different teams each season not just top 4, Sky would love to be showing more United matches…

    It isn't about form.
    It is about success.
Other teams are taking fans away from United across the world.
And those fans are where TV companies will target their matches.
Of course being in the Europa League is a cause.
But that is exactly United is seen as less relevant than teams in the CL.

If it was up to Sky/BT, they would show us as first or second pick every week. Liverpool and United comfortably generate the most views in the league hence more money brought in advertising revenue.
