I just can't believe some fans will even contemplate the idea of having Fellaini in their XI. Recipe for disaster!
    Are you for real?

With no Smalling, Jones, Darmian or Rojo around, we'd be left with young slight full backs, Blind and McNair. Who is going to head the ball out!

We will get beat tomorrow. I'm not saying it just to be negative, I just genuinely feel we will get turned over. BFC like to play attacking football and I don't see our defence holding out too well against it. There is absolutely zero confidence in this side to score goals. If we go behind I think we could ship 2 or 3.
I haven't felt so underwhelmed by a united team in, well, never really. At least with Moyes I thought we would score but I don't see goals in this side, given how much protection LVG will give the defence tomorrow.

we'll have to go ultra negative and look to hold the ball for 90% of the game.

I'm a little worried, but would probably go for

    De Gea
    Varela Carrick McNair Blind
    Schneidy Fellaini
    Lingard Mata Young
    Martial

Thinking behind it, that I'd prefer to have Blind and Carrick's experience in the back four, rather than some kid left back, or even Young there, especially with Varela seemingly the only possible right back option.

Schneiderlin and Fellaini Is a solid tough barrier there, Fellaini obviously making up for the lack of heading ability behind him.
Hard working wingers, instead of Memphis who it isn't a day for. And Mata and Martial our hopes of scoring. Mata surrounded by three pacy players will suit him too.

Presuming Rooney is still on his booze/ankle layoff, and that none of the other injuries are close enough

ps not sure where Blackett is? He was right amongst it in last year's injury crisis, is he on the radar anywhere?

Didn't Blackett go on loan to Celtic?

    That's funny...

    ..Because it's not true.

Fellaini is Peter Crouch like when it comes to headers, surprisingly bad at them considering his height and body strength, usually loses or avoids going up for them and prefers to chest it down instead.
He can sure as hell prevent a header with his elbows though.

We will bring him on anytime the ball is in the air, fair enough?

I'd take a 0-0 now. Bournemouth have been playing well recently.

I've gone for an optimistic 1-1 but I wouldn't be surprised if we lost going by the options we have.

Reckon he'll go for 3 at the back here:

    ---------De Gea
    --McNair Carrick Blind
    Varela ------------- Young
    --- Fellaini -- Schneiderlin
    ----------Mata
    --- Memphis -- Martial

It'll be a tricky one if they feel they have nothing to lose and just go for it, we always look shaky when teams have a go at us, but I reckon with their terrible defence we'll just have enough to get by.
1-0 or 2-1 to us with Martial scoring.

I think we will surprise everyone. Mostly kids having no fear, lots of movement, looking forward to it.

Bournemouth will get chances, but so will we. As long as no one has a brain fart I think we will win comfortably, though the scoreline may not reflect that. Chelsea should not have lost to Bournemouth, people are exaggerating how good they were that day. They play nice football when they have the ball.

I wouldn't put Carrick at CB, to me he can do more the team is him and Schneiderlin provide a double shield for the back 4.

0.0 We'll win the possesion game and maybe even get to the edge of their box a couple of times. Satisfactory afternoon all round

Carrick and Morgan will shield the defense tight. So no need for 5 at the back I think.
We may even create a number of chances with Carrick, Martial, Memphis and Mata starting.

1-0 or 2-1 to us with Martial scoring.
The thing is, those 11 players are still better than Bournemouth's (with perhaps one or two exceptions). So if they perform they can definitely win this.

If they come out and have a go at us, we'll beat them. If they go defensive to nick a point, prepare for another snoozefest.

Bournemouth aren't a long-ball, defend for their lives, type of team. They try to play good football on the ground, and are usually good value to watch.

    I think they'll give it a go.

2.30am start for me after a bastard of a day teaching kids and then the work end of year party with Boss Arsecandle.
Should I bother staying up for this?

i'd go gung-ho again like wednesday, the crucial difference being that we have schneiderlin who's perfect for such football.

And the injury excuses dont really work this week. Bournemouth are riddled with injuries too, sadly for them, they are more of the long term variety.

In two minds about that. Seems a bit raw still. Had a good game on Tuesday, but not as polished as Varela who was excellent.
If CBJ is more polished than Varela then I don't know what's the point of Varela since there're 4 years difference in age between them and CBJ isn't one of those early developer freak.

But Varela, from what I can see at least, is a level or two above CBJ. He was superb on Tuesday.

Yes but do you realize you're comparing a 22 years old with an 18 years old who had only 7 U21s appearances in his name before Tuesday?
Oh yeah, of course. Just that Varela looks ready to make the step up, CBJ seems like he could make it, but PL is a different beast. We'll see I guess.
