We’ll see a well coached, nicely drilled side tomorrow. Utilising the abilities of their players and making themselves difficult to play against, whilst creating chances from quick football.
Ole will be in charge of the other team.
Going by that you must have been shocked United under Ole bet Potters side 3-1 and 3-0 last season?

Chances created in those two games.

No he's been 3rd choice because he's constantly injured, and the manager isn't going to promote him in to the starting XI after a long break if the team is doing well enough
He was fit enough last season to gain a spot in the first, if good enough. Yet, he battled against Jones and Axel for matches. Stats says it all. Even when fit. Stats on that can be looked up on transfermarkt. When fit under Jose or Ole he has been 3rd or 4th choice. To deny that would be a lie

I expect VDB to play instead of Pogba and rightly so. Pogba is clearly not match fit and up to speed yet since having covid.

A lot of fans wondered why we signed VDB. This is the perfect reason why. Without VDB we would possibly be going into the game with an underwhelming midfield.

We played really well last time out vs Brighton.

I hope we replicate that type of performance.

Nervous for this, I think a defeat could really shake us.

I'd go with a midfield of Matic, Bruno at #8 and Donny at #10. I'd like to see Bruno get on the ball a bit more and think he is more press resistant. From the little I've seen of Donny he looks lively around the box.

I'd stick with Lindelof over Bailly in defence. I think Bailly is better suited to Maguire as a partner, but like others have mentioned, I think it could be dangerous to drop Lindelof for someone so unreliable.

The manager has said what he had to say by defending the lack of transfers and saying a lot of players other than the front three will score goals this season. Let's see how long he can carry on this stance. And also let us hope that the players turn up for the game this time.

Also I don't want to see Lindelof anywhere near the matchday squad.

Fans have really short memories, we’ve played really well against Brighton, they’re not a bogey team for us, I fully expect a comfortable win.

Lose this fixture and we could be 9 points behind several teams by the end of the week. The sheer pressure of the points-table will start rocking Ole's chair.

Anything less than 3 points from this match is a disaster, especially that we have extremely difficult fixtures against Chelsea, Spurs, and Arsenal in October.

Come off it guy...you can't win the league in first 3 months, but you can lose it...United aren't challenging for the league. And they will still have a game at hand after this weekend. Teams always go on unbeaten runs and United have shown they will go on some good runs. They need to get match fit and up to speed, it'll happen one would think.

It's a marathon, not a sprint. And this season is even more compressed than last season due to a shorter pre-season and the PL deciding to have only 3 substitutes unlike other leagues in Europe. That's going to hinder English teams of not complying with other leagues.

    Thanks for stating the obvious.

    Ole has several problems.
The month of October is difficult for United with several matches against top clubs, with each rival club enjoying a better transfer-window than ours. Ole cannot afford to drop points in these early winnable fixtures using (lack of) fitness issues as a pretext.

Hearing rumours that Bailly will replace Lindelof... which might prove my suspicions that Maguire is the problem

I could see us losing this in all honestly.

They’ve been very good lately, and Lampety has been excellent down the right. Rashford doesn’t exactly always track back with the full back, I can see Lamptey getting forward and we are poor at defending crosses from the oppositions right.

Hope I’m wrong but I’d imagine that’ll be one of Potters tactics, long ball forward by White for Lamptey to cross.

Got to win today. No excuses. We've got a tough run of games in October coming up so if we don't win today you can easily see Ole coming under real pressure before Christmas.

Lindelof being replaced because Maguire is the problem. Such a weird logic.:houllier:
Think he is hinting at us being no better with Lindelof out, that he thinks Maguire will be caught out numerous times. There are a few who think Lindelof spends a lot of the game getting Maguire out of the mire and neglecting his own position.

Must be hell to follow football for you. God, I love days like this. Long breakfast, coffee with no stress, reading a book, then it's United and a couple of beers. Hopefully, I'll wake up to good news too :D

Bailly deserves a chance after Lindelofs recent form (counting last season as well). Ole talks how he wants players to compete for places. Let's see is if that's true.

Yeah. Shaw can be easily caught out. Hope our attacking prowess outclasses them.

Can he? I think that’s a tad harsh. Last week he was but everybody was off the pace.

On the whole I think he’s quite reliable defensively and often see him filling in and getting back to cover when Maguire is jogging back or has lost the flight of the ball.

Can't wait for this - on at 9:30 pm in Aus so can actually watch it live with a few beers for once without having to get up stupidly early.

Where exactly did I say we’d lose? You are getting your pants in a twist without understanding the post.
We have better players and will most likely win. But, and I’m happy to come on here later and say I was wrong, I think Brighton will look like a better ‘team’ later when we play. Graham Potter is a manager that has presented a style of play already in Brighton with players I feel would be struggling relegation under other managers.
I think Brighton will surprise many this season and Potter will be a wanted man at bigger clubs.
It’s a game we should win as we have the better squad.

Maguire is not exactly the most reliable (still the best CB at the club though), which can make Shaw look better due to the high volume of defending he has to do sometimes. However, how many times have we seen Shaw dreaming or leaving someone unmarked at the back post? He’s overall a decent left back but could be easily and cheaply upgraded by simply buying Telles for £20m.

Excited about the match but genuinely worried about this match. Im normally positive about games but I can see Brighton winning this and another meltdown ensuing after the match on here.

Brighton were unlucky against Chelsea. They look very sharp at the moment. Lamptey could tear us apart down the Shaw/Maguire side. Hope not, but very tricky game with us still off the pace.
