Seems it will be the same lineup we played with against Stoke. Will be an easy 11/11 for most ones. :D

No Bailly, Ibrahimovic, Blind, Mkhitaryan, or Sanchez.

I don't see much reason to change anything from the Stoke game. The only worry is that with Lingard and Pogba pushing forward so much, there was often a gap between those two and Matic which left us far too exposed a few times on the counter attack. I'm not sure if Burnley away is a fixture where we'd slot in Herrera or Fellaini instead of Mata. Maybe it was five or six weeks ago, but I think Burnley will turn it around again soon and average more than a point a game to make sure they stay up. Again though, we've slipped up in too many 'easy' games, even if that term is a bit disrespectful. Leicester and the previous Burnley game are two where I think if we were just a bit more clinical, we win. Southampton less-so, especially with the Lukaku injury, but if we'd have won the previous two we'd have likely stayed on track. Could be too little, too late now, but we need the wins to stay 2nd/3rd now, rather than challenge City.

We need width and pace. Starting Mata or Herrera will only play it into Burnley's hands. In the reverse fixture we were at our most dangerous when we stretched the game with the wide players (Young at RB was our only real threat going forward).

Same as vs Stoke with the possible exception of Herrera taking Mata's place for a 4-3-3.

City will slip up again soon so I just don't understand why people are so resigned to the title race. Yes City are heavy, heavy favourites and it's beyond crazy to think they'll completely bottle it - but even if our motivation is to cut the gap down to the minimum for the rest of the league season, then so be it.

Need a win tomorrow to half make up for the slip up against them last month. Keep the momentum train ticking.
Love the faith, and we of course never give up, but with 15 games left, we need to be near on perfect, while they lose 4 games (1 loss in 23, and you're asking for at least 4 in 15). That's a big big ask

If we can get through a tough double header of aways next, and have trimmed that 15 down, maybe there could be some growing momentum.
We'd have to beat City away for certain though

Let's say that hypothetically Sanchez helps us win all our remaining games, and that...

City beat Newcastle and West Brom at home. Then 0-0 away to Burnley, 2-2 at home to Leicester(great pressing team), lose at the Emirates and another draw with Chelsea.

    9 games to go..
    City 71 points
    United 68 points

2 games later City play Everton and Tottenham away, with our derby in-between. We can still dream as long as we keep picking up 3 points. If we are still 9 points+ behind when we play them with 6 games to go is when I'll give up on the title.

We've left ourselves needing to match what City did in their incredible run. That's the real issue.

We could well have seen the 12 point lead go UP after the next 2 games.

We better win this. A loss is not acceptable.
Can just imagine the media gleefully pointing out to Sanchez .. see you are going to a shite team:rolleyes:

The media said that the 'old' United would have won 6-0, when we beat stoke 3-0.

So it doesnt matter if we win, lose or draw, the media in general will spin it into a negative.

Yeah, if the gap extends against Burnley and Tottenham, we're already out of the equation. Two must wins. If we get it down to 9-10 points by the time they play Arsenal and Chelsea it's game on!

Sanchez is a fantastic player. But just like the OT game, if we cannot beat a team like Burnley comfortably, without him, it speaks volumes as to how much work the team as a whole needs. I don't care where they are in the table, they've been stinking lately. Other 'big' teams have put them to the sword. if we can't do that without a player who isn't even our player yet, it's a scary issue.

1-3 I'm saying. Lukaku, Lingard, Martial.

We need to keep up the wins, but I also want us to play some nice football again too. I want us to finish the season strong, and push city right to sword. It's not over until it's mathematically over. Feck logic, push till it's out of sight.

Are people aware that Burnley are in 7th conceding the 4th fewest goals so far? They can’t score for toffee but they can dig in and make it hard to beat them.

    First goal will be crucial.

Need to be quick out of the blocks and score early.

This will be a tough game. An early goal would be great for us otherwise I can see Burnley really digging in to try and hold out for a result.

This is a banana skin, Burnley are no mugs.

Hope we go with a 3 man midfield.

Anyone know a good stream to watch the game from on my phone? I don't want to be scrambling around at kick off looking for streams.

    Magical Manchester United.
Burnley are in terrible form, haven't won in ages. We should've comfortably beat them at Old Trafford as they barely offered anything attacking wise. Score early and this will be easy IMHO, if we take our time this will go like the Everton game I think with us raising our game in the 2nd half. Can see Mou going 4-3-3 for this one and bring Herrera in for Mata to give Pogba more freedom going forward.
Lingard and Martial to score, 2-0 win.

This could be a proper slip up today.
team has been disrupted, weather is shit , cold wet/sleet windy, Burnley at home are no mugs.
We should beat these and beat them well, but we said the same when they played at OT :nervous:

Wonder if the attackers will be a little more motivated than usual knowing Sanchez is coming in and will be taking a spot.

    Expect a masterclass.. or not..

    I'm expecting this.

Would be a bit harsh on Herrera though. If Mourinho values him at all he needs to give him the 3rd midfield spot.

Then there's Fellaini's contract to consider....

A very tough game, there won't be much room for counter-attacks as they are very solid at the back and defend with numbers. The good thing is that they're on the bad run 0-3-3 in EPL (best result being that draw they had at OT)

Also, they have 8-8 GD at home after 11 games. So, most likely not many goals in this one. We're going to Spurs after, so win would be massive.

We've had a good week, sedate, muppet-loving Alexander the great Sanchez's and all that.

But Burnley are ready for an ambush. Hope we can avert it - and steal the points, but I reckon this is going to be ugly.

    Nice, short trip though.

We need to start on the front foot with good tempo. I hope that Lingaard plays instead of Mata.
