I fear this will be Jose's final game. He probably knows that too, hence the long goodbye to Old Trafford on Monday night.

If we lose at Burnley the board will pull the trigger. The players know that too. All they have to do is go through the motions, let themselves get beat and that'll be the end of Mourinho.

I don't want this to be the end of Jose, I'm still Jose In, but the players are calling the shots now. Mou's no longer in charge.

Really feels like this is a landmark moment for Man Utd. We've never really had to deal with player power on this level. Even under Van Gaal. We used to look down at other clubs where the players took down managers. Look at us now. The saddest thing is I don't see this resulting in a league title either. Not sure the Man Utd manager will ever have the aura Sir Alex had ever again.

I also don't want his tenure to end like this, but the football style is a turn off for many of our fans(including me). Like you said, on the pitch, our players seem like they are just going through the motions. This is either due to bad coaching, or our players don't seem to buy into what Jose is saying. And add to that his press conferences and the english media's tendency to debate and blow up every little thing he says, and you have got a toxic vibe around the club.

I don't think any future manager is going to have the aura of Sir Alex. He is an outlier. This is also the age of the superstar athletes. And when we have players on huge wages like pogba and sanchez, the club can't afford to sit around when they realise that the players are not playing for the manager and are unhappy. And I don't know if the problem can be solved by firing Jose either. There were posts about Mckenna being a caretaker manager if Jose is fired this season. If a manager of Jose's caliber can't make these players listen to him, I don't know how anybody thinks that they will listen to a greenhorn. If we are going to have a caretaker manager, I would much rather have a Zidane or a Giggs.

Any new manager taking the reins at Manchester United is always going to have an albatross around his neck. He is always going to get compared to Sir Alex. I thought Jose would be up to the task, but sadly that has not happened. It's going to be tough to find a manager that can handle the 'unique' pressure at our club.

I don't care if Jose is in or out, we need to win this damn game. Get the 3 points anyway we can.
Will go for a 2 nil win for us.

Shame that there seems to be a reliance on that!

It's Burnley who are in poor form too, ffs!
And Burnley would be thinking the same about United. They'll probably see this as the best possible time to play this game. "Go out there and give the fans their money's worth" :p

How could the players possibly know that the next manager would treat them better than Jose? If they don't want him, there must be a good reason. Why would players of the other top 6 teams want to play for their manager but only United players wouldn't? Makes no sense. Unless his bahaviour has been uninspiring, to put it mildly.

In short, it's naive to blame only the players.

    Drop Pogba.
Pogba can go to Real with Sterling, job done. Buy two young lads with heart, temperament and who can play week in week out with the money gained from Pogba. I thought he also played crap in the world cup but was made to look good by a lot of exceptional players around him. Sell him before he loses us more money.
This may sound cynical but I would like to see another loss to end this malaise that supporters have had to put up with. The CEO is crap, we know but I just can't tolerate Mourino's negative attitude on and off the pitch. I hope we also see Pogba dropped permanently, no player is bigger than the club and his attitude is contaminating.

Honestly, we've been that bad I could pick players names out of a hat for the starting eleven.

    1. De Gea
    2. Valencia
    3. Shaw
    4. Smalling
    5. God only knows, they are awful!
    6. Matic
    7. Fellaini (As much as it pains me we need a bit of steel in our team during this period)
    8. Pogba
    9. Lingard
    10. Lukaku
    11. Rashford

Don't start Sanchez, we may as well be starting with ten men as all he does is lose the ball and put our midfield under pressure. I'd also give Fred a rest for this one, Burnley will be physical and he's not settled due to the team around him being a complete shambles, Fellaini starts for me.

Let's also give Rashford a bit of faith for once.

    i would pick

    de gea
    valencia
    smalling
    bailly
    shaw

    fellaini
    pogba
    herrera

    lingard
    sanchez
    lukaku

subs- martial, lindelof, rashford, chong, young, matic, grant

However Mourinho loves change and has his favoruties, so we will see something fellaini pogba matic midfield. With Mata, sanchez and lukaku up field.Dont be surprised if he plays a back 3.

Fred not even making the squad for you?

I’d have that team but with Fred in for Herrera, who’ll play alongside Matic in a midfield 2 and Pogba playing a more attacking role. Fellaini will be effective coming on later.

    We will beat them.

It won't be pretty, but we will do it. Our lot aren't so spineless to lose 3 in a row this early into the season.

I can't help but think we will thump them, and then lose/draw to Watford

I admire your confidence but I wouldnt be so sure, the defence is still up for grabs but it seems none of the defenders actually want to play at the minute, apart from Shaw. Pogba looks like he doesnt want to be there either and is putting in sub-par performances, Lukaku is missing chances he should be scoring and Sanchez hasnt got going yet after 8 months.

    Fully expecting another loss.

Don't see us winning any of our next six games and if we do it'll be a struggle and won't life the mood of the club.

I mean it’s Burnley, we should on paper smash them but then...

We should win but I can just as easily see us losing, worst thing for Jose would to be go back to his normal style of play after earning some respect for what he tried to do Monday and lose or draw.

    Champions League draw

The draw for the Champions League has just concluded and this is United's group:

    Group H
    Juventus
    Manchester United
    Valencia
    Young Boys

Read how the draw went down here.

    Carabao Cup draw

The draw for the third round of the Carabao Cup has just concluded. Manchester United were drawn at home to Derby County which sees a return to Old Trafford for Tom Lawrence and Jacob Butterfield, however the draw of the round is Liverpool v Chelsea.

    Discuss the draw here.

I have no idea what to expect from our team at this point. I only hope we play with the same attacking intent we showed against Spurs, although I wouldn't be surprised to see us revert back to a defensive style given both our defensive frailties and the manager situation. A third straight loss will see the curtains drawn on Jose.

    Watching Burnley now.
They have thrown the kitchen sink and more into this game but haven't found a breakthrough. Hopefully this tires them/demoralises them enough to give us a bit more of an edge come Sunday.

Jose to come out fighting and Utd to batter Burnley. 3 points and a 3-0 win for Utd.

Got no idea what team, formation will be so go a bit different ... as much chance as anything.

I don't think Jose has an idea of best CH pairing so may as well choose three and hope quantity makes up for lack of quality.

You’d like to see one of our best players sold, for us to lose the game because our CEO is crap and you see no irony in calling Mourinho negative?

How about as fans we get behind the team instead of moaning that everything is crap because the culture is so negative?

The positive I’m taking is the surprising amount of cautious optimism after losing 3-0 at home to bloody spurs, that it hasn’t been utter doom and gloom is encouraging. I’m hoping the players were enjoying playing a little more on front foot and learned that individual responsibility is so important for 90 minutes. Cut out the rubbish mistakes, keep improving and who knows maybe the defeat will be a turning point rather than if we won 1-0 with a drab display.

I’m clutching but what the club needs is one of those days where it all clicks. Haven’t had one in years, but I’m talking the 4-0days, score early, stay on top and just hammer a team. Keep in touch an and kick on after international

We haven't lost to them in 10 years or something, so looks like we're gonna break another record!

Play Pogba behind Lukaku in a 'wherever you wanna go' type role with some penetration on the flanks and we should be good.

    Anyone but Rashford
    De Gea

    Valencia Bailly Smalling Shaw

    Fred Matic Pogba

    Lingard Lukaku Sanchez
Wouldn’t be shocked if Pogba is dropped. Fellaini and Herrera are Mourinho’s boys and I can see him turning to them in what may be the death throes of his reign.

Expect us to come out fast again like we did vs Spurs. Press high and get efforts on goal. If Lukaku gets out of potato mode I think we’ll win by a couple of goals. I doubt he will.

I think we dominate from the first minute. Pepper their goal, Hart has a worldie and we finally score in the 80th minute. Barnes to equalise with Burnley’s first effort on goal with the last touch of the game. Write it down.

    Its a funny old game
I'm not even confident enough to predict a 1-0 win to United. United couldn't score in a brothel at the moment. I haven't felt so depressed since the late 80's.

Their Europa commitments would make this a walkover for any other top side. We'll probably squeak a 0-1.

I'd like to see Jose continue with the formation he used in the last game with Sanchez or Pereira brought in, and Jones replaced obviously. Pointless loss if we just switched to it for 1 game. Curious as to why he used Herrera in defense though. Does he see something good in him to be used that way it is it just to give him game time. Either way I like the set up, I think we could improve by using it so playing burnley is the perfect game to go with it again

Didnt he play him there in the FA Cup last season? Cant remember if it was the final or semi. The fact that he is playing a CM on the right side of a back three tells you everything you need to know about how Jose feels about the defenders
