Herrera is still injured. And LVG will go with 3 at the back, so Rafa-Evans (hope he gets his mojo back)-Blackett.

Personally a switch to a back 4 would be the wisest choice for this match.

When the team is back to full strength then LVG can play his favoured system again, but until them i'd play a back four and keep Young/Valencia away from any defensive duties.

Totally agree with the 352. Not actually convinced we will stick with it. I think we will play with a back four.

I think this Rooney, RvP combination is not working. We need to replace one of them with either Welbeck or Janzaj to be a potent force going forward.
I completely agree. Welbeck tends to make the other striker look more dangerous wheras RVP and Rooney make the other look crap. Welbeck alone though would be a problem as he doesn't score enough goals, but partnered with one of those two that wouldn't be as much of a problem.

VG was very authoritative and impressive in today's presser. No panic reaction there; basically the players being measured by their degree of adaptability to his philosophy ... No indication of a blink there.

Well it will be a tough decision for LvG to make, but he has made such decisions before.

Who else plays central midfield now? Cleverley is gone, Herrera, Fellaini, and Carrick are injured... Does Di Maria start his first game as a midfield three with Mata and Fletcher? Does Phil Jones move into midfield? Or will Powell or Anderson really start?

Evans had an absolute mare against the Dons, but he might have to start if Jones is used as a CM. Blackett will play, with Smalling (if fit) or Keane...

Rooney, Fletcher and Mata seems to be the most balanced midfield we can put out, with Rooney as the #8, Fletcher as the #6 and Mata as the #10. Di Maria can play in the Robben role (with RvP up top) if we play 3-5-2 or as a wide attacker (with RvP and Welbeck) if we play the 4-3-3.

I think we'll end up seeing something along the lines of this. Not sure about that defence, we really need some more cover at LB

Can you add Andreas Pereira to lineup prediction? I think the lad will make the bench at least as he was stand out player against Dons. I think Anderson didn't have a terrible game like some other players. I would put him alongside Fletcher. Jones to midfield is a good shout as well but his performances as CB are looking the best ever and is getting better. We should not change one of the thing which is working but yeah if celverley is heading away and manager is dissapointed with fletcher we may consider him as DMC and Anderson should be his partner. He is creative enough. Pereira in the second half for Ando. Mata could be used as CM as well but I dont believe van Gaal would want to play with him as he thought Kagawa was not suited to that role either(even Mata is a better player)But I can see Giggs coming with this up.. All in all I believe we will use our new no 44. he is exciting prospect

I'd love to be able to watch them that late. Waking up early on the weekend is grueling.
It is more depressing to wake up early to watch the game, to see the team not even turning up. Just ruins the entire day.

Dare we hope to see Perreira in midfileld?
Has LvG given as many league debuts to academy products than Moyes and Fergie did in the last 4 years?

Moyes gave Januzaj his league debut, and Fergie gave Pogba and Cleverley his. I do not recall Fergie giving any other academy player his league debut over this period of time. LvG has already handed league debuts to Keane, Lingard, and Blackett.

need more men in the mid-filed to cover the back 3 or 4, Fletcher alone will make this happen. and rooney, RVP, mata sitll can't produce chemistry..

Tunnicliffe got his under Fergie, I only remember because it won his dad a huge bet.

Gave a debut to Larnell Cole, ditto Will Keane.

Josh King had a game in there somewhere.

Gibson, of course. Amos too I think.

Not that you should remember any of them, though, Gibson aside. Or had that been 5+ now?

I do not think Cole, Tunnicliffe or Josh King got league debuts though. They must have played in the league cup.

    Jones - Evans - Blackett
Valencia - Fletcher - Di Maria - Young
    Mata
    RvP - Rooney

Think that's how we'll line up. Zero chance of us changing formation yet imo.

For some odd reason, 3-5-2 makes me cringe anytime, but LVG's constant talk of "philosophy" means this formation is gonna be around for sometime.

Are you serious? Pogba and Cleverley. Cant be right. Im thinking Welbeck, Gibson, Blackett, de Laet?
Also, these players getting time has been down to three first team defenders leaving and only one coming in (and immediately injured), not really due to a different mindset. He was forced into it. Although, Fergie would probably have played Fletcher and JS Park in defence...

Anyway, still hoping to see Perreira

League debut.Blackett only played in pre-season under Fergie and Michael Keane on the league cup.Fergie did have Tunnicliffe on the bench for one league match but he didn't came on as far as I remember.
