You'd think their confidence is shot, but trust us to give them all the confidence in the world come Sunday. Although my heart wants to see a repeat of what we did to them when them came to us, only this time at their home ground. They can be their for the taking, but history tells a different tale.

I expect the usual Stamford Bridge loss but I think we'll play quite well and I don't think Mourinho will "park the bus". But yeah 1-0 Chelsea.

Surely they watch the tape from previous performances and learn from it?
Chelsea? We used the exact same tactics at Old Trafford that gave them problems in the FA cup and they still couldn't live with us. It wasn't even a secret that we would try to replicate it, it's all everybody was talking about.
Even if they do get the tapes out, it's hard to see how they could counteract it with the form they're in.
Its clear as day what well do. 3 at the back to nullify Morata going either side, Herrera on Hazard with Young and Valencia pushing up on their fullbacks.
Can we perform is a different question but it doesn't make sense to play any other way. We need to press them so their fatigue kicks in.

Bakayoko+Rudiger have proven to be quite a downgrade over Matic+ Zouma. Couple that with Courtois' regression and Kante's absence and you can understand why they're struggling. As long as Kante does not play during the weekend, we should be alright.

We played 4-4-2 (away, in the FA Cup) against them, with Young and Valencia as wingers and Jones and Darmian as fullbacks! And then 3-5-2 (home), with Lingard and Rashford upfront. We don't even have enough midfielders to play 3-5-2, really.

Hope we're not going again like it, because Chelsea will also feature a very defensive counterattacking team, probably in 3-5-1-1 (adding Kanté) or 3-4-3 like today.

One things for sure, chances will be few and far between here and Rom will need to find his shooting boots if we are to take all three points. Would be tremendous if we could though, back to back wins against this lot and Spurs would give us a huge lift going into the International break.

It was a back 3 of Rojo, Jones and Smalling with Valencia and Damian as wingbacks.
Hard for Jones to be a fullback when he was the one stepping forward into midfield to constantly foul Hazard!.
Anyway if there was a formation change it would be very minor. We pressed them high all with a half fit Rashford up front, Rashford was fully fit for the OT game and as a result we played a lot better.

With Mkhi completely out of form, and Lingard perhaps injured I'd play Martial, Lukaku and Rashford. 3-4-3.

Match Chelsea player for player. Can see us going for the extra man in midfield though, 3-5-2 is more likely.

    Carrick to return perhaps?

God, if Pogba came back for this game it would be a huge.

We will definitly play 352. José said last year that the best way to counter Chelsea formation 352, is to play the same formation.

    De gea
    Bailly Jones Smalling
    Valencia Young
    Matic Mkhi/Pogba Herrera
    Rashford Lukaku

Where do you fit Young in there, that also played the FA Cup game, as a wide forward in a 3-4-3? It's bollocks.

Carrick to return to start at Stanford Bridge? That's crazy…

He said “three at the back”, he never mentioned 3-5-2.

Roma played in the 2 matches like Chelsea were a normal team, no special respect given. No buses parked. We don't need to give Chelsea more respect than they deserve.
Well you know how Jose will play. I really hope to see a brave football.

We seem to be playing very cautiously so it will be a binary score.

Curious to see if Conte comes up with something new. Also, looking forward to no one considering him a defensive coach when he benches Pedro and Willain for this and starts just two attacking players at home.

This has been true of 90% of matches featuring Mourinho teams against serious opponents since he came back to Chelsea and he's never changed his tune. Don't get your hopes up. If we didn't have a proper go against bloody Liverpool, there's no way we will against Chelsea.

We're without Pogba and Fellaini, overplaying the only two midfielders available… Getting results, I think that's brave enough!

Filling in the shape when Herrera followed Hazard around. Unless you think we left Pogba alone in midfield with Herrera marking Hazard?
Jose literally said this himself after our win, if anything he bleated on about it for too long aftetwards.
When we had the ball Jones stepped forward, when we didn't he dropped back to a 5.
No need to get hung up on formations as if they're rigid rules of thumb. Players movement rarely equates to what we think they are.
Heat maps alone shows us this

Matic and Lukaku will be looking forward to prove a point against Chelsea and Mourinho desperately needs points. I think it could get ugly for Chelsea, take Hazard out and they‘re nothing. We‘ll win against them, Mourinho masterclass.

Morata seems to be lacking presence and strength compared to Costa. He isn‘n a lone striker and never will be, Conte made a huge mistake, because of this, Chelsea will struggle big time. Moreover Bakayoko isn‘t fit to lace Matic‘s boots.

Alone in midfield, what about Fellaini? (Or are you talking about the FA Cup game?) What you say could make sense, but I was just checking the said heatmap and Young didn't have one defensive touch in central midfield.

Tough game. Hoping for 3-4-3/3-5-2. Maybe even with both Rashford and Martial starting.

It would be nice if they defend like this on Sunday...
:lol::lol: what did I just watch?? The funniest part is when all three have the simultaneously change direction.

Shocking that professional footballers make such fundamental errors.

Probably the stadium I'm least confident of us getting anything at in the league. I assume the stats back this up. Conte will have them chomping at the bit for this one after their result tonight and the recent flair up between him and Jose.

If City put the pressure on us by beating Arsenal in the earlier fixture, we could end up seeing an even more grumpy Mourinho than in recent times.

Yeah but Young would drop a little deep that allowed Darmian to get closer infield and its a chain reaction.
Fellaini only came on after the red card.
Its all much of a muchness anyway. The Chelsea game clearly has tactical wiggle room to work with and it's up to Jose to put it together.

We still don't have Pogba and we never do well at Stamford Bridge. I'd happily take a 1-0.
