Can't believe over a third of our fans didn't recognise Shaw was our best player today. He was superb, and I gave him a 9/10 which I very rarely do.
We played good today but we had to take one of the few chances we were going to get. It is disappointing but you have to be blind not to see the positives and improvement in our team. Big game next week and let's get back to winning ways.
I thought he was excellent, and was surprised that so many we giving him grief during the actual game. That said I voted for Herrera because he lasted the full 90 mins and I thought he was just as effective in the middle. Few loose balls, but every player does that.

If only we had a half decent striker. :(
I actually felt that the bigger problem was CM - without Carrick or Blind we were noticeably less comfortable on the ball there, and ended up spending too little time playing through the middle. Falcao didn't doo too badly considering the lack of chances, so unless by half decent striker you mean Lionel Messi, there isn't really much difference any better strikers would've made.

Get one of those two back and Herrera further up and it might help. The most creative player was having to play deep which didn't help Mata either. Then Zouma completely played Fellaini out of the game.

I'm only wondering why we didn't try to play Rooney as an attacker at least at the last 30 mins, keeping Herrera and Mata alongside each other while Fellaini dropped as holding CM and Subbed Falcao with Di Maria plays as number 10 I guess that might would helped.

Yep, exactly. I was really impressed by how well we coped without either of them, but they really are key to our play down the middle at the moment. Such bad timing with the injuries... :(

Exactly, we have to get more of our attempts on target. We too often don't even test the goalie.
Problem hasn't been getting attempts on target; problem is creating better chances, something we've lacked all season.

Against Newcastle, we had 11 shots and 5 on target.
Against Spurs, we had 11 shots and 3 on target.
Against Pool, we had 6 shots and 4 on target.
Against Villa, we 20 shots and 7 on target.
Against City, we had 11 shots and 7 on target.
Against Chelsea, we had 7 shots and 2 on target.

I think we're averaging around 55-60% possession in our last 6 games; yet we're averaging 11 shots per game (massively increased by the Villa game). Off the top of my head the shots we had yesterday were Rooney on his left foot, Falcao slipping, Falcao hitting the bar, Rooney header, Rooney attempted chip and two McNair shots. It's quite criminal that 4 of the 7 shots we had were rubbish from outside the box; and two from our central defender! The blame sits on the likes of Rooney, Mata and Young, who created absolutely nothing yesterday and was the reason we lost. I think people are woefully misled by the fact that we had 70% possession as we did absolutely sh*t all with it.

Another massive problem is the lack of opportunity for our forwards; whether it be Rooney or Falcao. Even throughout this dream run we've had, most our chances have fallen to our midfielders and very little for our strikers.

Anyone else jump around celebrating like feck thinking Rooney had nestled one in the top corner early on in the game? Couldn't believe it wasn't in!

Anyway it was a typical result from us at Stamford bridge going by the last few years. If only we could have kept the same team that beat City I would have thought we would have come away with at least 1 point.

Also congrats to Chelsea on the league. Next year, we'll be back in May, to take it away...
