We just cannot afford to not take all 3 points or else we are getting dragged into a top 4 scrap, maybe if we didn't drop all those stupid points again Sheff, West Brom, Everton etc a draw or even at its worst losing this game we could of managed but now it's win or nothing,

Win, then i genuinely feel we have 1 leg over the top 4 finish line, Lose then it's into a messy messy scrap.

Come on United, just this once don't do it the hard way !

I would predict a 0-0 borefest looking at both teams at the moment, which would be an okay result for us.
Aside the Liverpool match in the FA cup and the PSG away in the CL group stage, we haven't won any game against a top team this year, I really don't see us winning against this Chelsea side.

I'm guessing McTominay and Cavani will be back for this, if not then I hope Ole has a good think about midfield as the Fred/Matic combination looks really awkward, and up top I imagine it'll be Martial if Cavani is still out. Surely Bailly starts.......

Great line up, Cavani & McT are injured, but great none the less.

Win and top 4 looks very likely. Lose and we may be out the top 4 in 2 weeks.

    AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    Fred Matic
    Greenwood Bruno Rashford
    Cavani
yep - reckon this will be it

glad they don’t have Drogba to make Ddg and Linda shit themselves

bit if a diff from Schmikes, Brucie, Vida etc but we need to play out from the back

It'll be De Gea starting of course, but should be Henderson.
    Henderson
    Wan Bissaka Bailly Maguire Shaw
    McTominay Fred
    James Bruno Rashford
    Greenwood
If Cavani is fit then he's definitely starting up top. If McTominay not fit then it's Matic in midfield. Prefer Henderson and Bailly to Lindelof and De Gea, but it'll likely be the latter 2.
    Agree with everything here.

    Provided Cavani is healthy...

    DeGea
    AWB - Bailly - Maguire - Shaw
    Tuanzebe - Fred
    Greenwood - Bruno - Rashford
    Cavani

Subs: James - Martial - Diallo

    Chelsea 0-1 MUFC

I'd rather see Henderson and Bailly. I think the Tuanzebe sub was a successful experiment against Real Sociedad, and Matic played the whole game.

Right, we're not going to have much of the ball in this game at all. We're going to need three fast guys because we'll be swamped under a high press for large parts of the match. This is one game where James will suit the opponent perfectly.

Think we might even match their 3-4-3/3-5-2

Not a surprise he played both Lindelof and Bailly and rested Maguire, I think that was a clue personally.

DDG, Lindelof, maguire, Bailly, Shaw, AWB, Fred, Mctominay, Fernandes,Rashford, Cavani

Suspect the key matchup will be our counter-press against your ability to play under pressure to create transition chances. We were really really excellent at quickly closing down Atleti after possession losses - they were able to create very little on the break and they're an elite counterattacking team much like United. That said, Atleti were missing Carrasco and he along with Felix are their best two players in transition. United will almost certainly pose a bigger threat as you have more speedy players up top, but at the same time your midfield is far less technical and able to play when pressed. If Matic plays I suspect he may struggle; he's never been particularly press resistant and that has only gotten worse with age. Fred may have issues as well.

We'll see! Could be a case of a stoppable force meeting a moveable object when Chelsea have the ball? I don't think your defense is particularly well organised around your penalty area but at the same time our attack has hardly lit the world afire. At the other end your attack has been brilliant but so has our defending. I'd say both sides match up well and it's a hard one to call. Draw might seem the most likely outcome, or barring that I'd suspect it may come down to whichever side makes fewer mistakes at either end.

Seems like there is a lot of fear / respect for this Chelsea side, but I personally don't see much about them that is to be worried about. Giroud is decent as is Mount, but the rest of their attack has been a bit blunt. Their midfield isn't much to be worried about either. We need a strong team out, no doubt, but I think us at 90% beat these. Rashford to score both in a 0-2 win for us.

Well I for one would be very pleased to see that lineup given a very conspicuous absence...

I'd take a draw, I can see us losing a tight game though leaving us at risk of dropping out of the top 4.

How many goals has Giroud scored against us?

I feel like its about 10, but in reality its probably like 2.

A defeat must be avoided. We’re not catching City so it’s all about all securing top four and among those knocking on our door Chelsea is to be feared most. Defend and hit on the break.

What I’d actually like to see, but it ain’t gonna happen, is an all out blitz in the first 15 minutes, going for the second after we score the first. We’re all sitting at home out of our minds because of this fukking pandemic and desperate for a thumping win over a big club in the PL and we’re due for such a win. But Ole understandably doesn’t have a lot of confidence in the ability of our forwards to finish their chances and I doubt we’ll see the kind of sustained pressure we’re desperate for. A bore draw would keep Chelsea at bay.

You'd better not park the bus and try to do us on the break. That would be most ungentlemanly.
I'm hoping both sides do the opposite to what they did last time, when both had managers under quite a lot of pressure to pick up a point.

Would like to see us really go for it. I don't think your defense is all that and those keepers (whoever plays) need to be tested - but you'd say the same about us...!

We will have 450 passes in the first half and only three will be to someone who might have a chance to score. Too Kill Ball.

I'd kill for a shit 0-0 draw to be honest. If we get that, we'll still be at least three points ahead of them after the defeat at City.

So far in games against teams that are supposed to be elite, we've shown too much deference in how we approach the game. Need to take the game to them and not show too much respect. Just be confident in our own quality than than theirs.

Funnily enough I think Lampards tactic of just giving it to Reece and pray Giroud gets on the end of it would cause us more problems than Tuchel trying to keep the ball. We are strong at defending the quick give and go passes, its crosses we struggle with and we have seen Tuchel struggle to combat our speed up front twice this season already.
We have a great recent record at the Bridge and these players in general so we shouldn't be worried about playing them. Its Chelsea who really has to win this game with the game v Liverpool up next (i think?)

You say this now, but the Caf goes largely toxic following 0-0 draws against top clubs. Will you come back and praise the result if we get it?

I promise I'll call 0-0 a decent result if we get it.

I can't guarantee I won't whine about the quality of the performance though.

So only Rashford Greenwood and Amad are for sure fit out of our attackers.

James maybe and Martial Mata and Cavani out.

VDB still a maybe too. Scott and Pogba out.

Our options looking real thin for Sunday.

Amad might be thrown in the deep end this weekend

Martial isn't injured. Just bad form.

We are extremely likely to drop points against them. A draw would be a decent outcome, but I am expecting a loss.

"Happy birthday to you Ole, but remember it's on Sunday." - Hudson Odoi comment on United Facebook post wishing Ole Happy Birthday.

Nice of him but, need to make sure we get the 3 points and wish him well afterwards ;)
