"Happy birthday to you Ole, but remember it's on Sunday." - Hudson Odoi comment on United Facebook post wishing Ole Happy Birthday.

Nice of him but, need to make sure we get the 3 points and wish him well afterwards ;)
I would take him at Utd because think there is something there but just needs to be playing regular games, god my hate for this lot & City grows when I think how they both get funded

True and all the establishment media accepting it and hardly ever raising it is pretty sickening too.
Oh well let’s see moving forward how it works out.

Yeah the media know deep down it should be raised more but that would mean writing something negative about them wouldn't it

Wouldn’t want to incur the wrath of from the foreign office for criticising a Middle Eastern autocracy.
They can get away with murdering journos and imprisoning a princess without much fuss so spending their wealth to dominate a sport isn’t going to cause a ripple

The worst thing is it would be like committing a cardinal sin if we had ever received that kind of money but because it's not Utd they decide lets just turn a blind eye to it instead

Nervous about this one. It’s a 6 pointer. I think both teams would take a draw if you offered it to them now so I doubt it’s going to be high scoring. Hopefully not a nervy 1-1 slog but it wouldn’t surprise me at all.
It's a huge game for Chelsea considering they go to Liverpool on Thursday and are in the chasing pack. They need 4 points from the two games.

A draw is a cracking result for us top 4 wise but we should still have our eyes on City (however unlikely) so in that context we need the win.

Setup perfectly for a tense 0-0....

Unfortunately the fans of these clubs, and media are guilty of brushing the financial cheating and the gruesome deeds of the owners under the carpet, but most supporters of other clubs don’t see any thing that they have ‘achieved ‘ post 2003/2008 as legitimate or impressive.

This will be very tough. They’ve swapped the worst manager in the league for a very very good manager & are reaping the rewards.

Hoping for a win, fearing a loss, would happily take a draw.

I just can't see past this team below,

    DDG
    AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    Matic Fred
    Bruno
    James Cavani Rashford
While it's not terrible, it's incredibly predictable especially the backline and every single club in the league know how weak we are at the back and will target us with set pieces, corners and long balls.

I really hope Ole tries something a bit different tomorrow especially with a weak midfield, I would love to see a team like below, perhaps James instead of Cavani at the start and bring Cavani on a bit later if needs be.

    Henderson
    Lindelof Bailly Maguire
    AWB Fred Donny Shaw
    Bruno
    Cavani Rashford

Is Cavani fit? Thought he was still injured

Assuming none of the injured players are fit or, at most, only on the bench (VdB?), then I suspect we might go in with a 5-2-3 / 3-4-3. Defence is the only area we haven't got injuries so we may revert to that formation and it leaves us an attacking option on the bench (Martial, maybe Greenwood?) to bring on.

    De Gea

    Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw (or Bailly)

AWB, Fred, Matic, Telles (or Shaw)

    Greenwood, Rashford, Fernandes

We could go with Shaw either left sided of 3, or at wing back. And either with Martial on the bench and Greenwood right, with Rashford through the middle. Or Greenwood on the bench with Rashford right and Martial through the middle?

It's not a great line up, due to key injuries, and, TBH, I'm expecting a pretty unambitious performance and a 1-0 / 2-0 defeat - same with the upcoming City game.

We go and attacking like anything and confuse the hell out of them. If I was Ole I would play Maguire, Lindelof and Bailly and they will think we are playing a back 3 but push Maguire up forward and bombard with high balls and pick up the second ball and by the time they realise we may have scored a couple of goals.

No idea why there is so much pessimism in here. It's a very evenly matched game.

Got to say I'm feeling very pessimistic about this one. Under Tuchel Chelsea have been good at pressing from the front, and if there's one thing United are awful at it's playing out of the press. Wouldn't mind going a bit more route one in this game.

I stay out of your game day threads. I hope for a well played match and players walking away healthy. Of course I want a Chelsea win. Enjoy the match!

Injuries coming at the worse time. I think Ole might change to a back three but missing potentially Pogba, McTominay and Cavani for this I think might be a bit too big. Not expecting a classic. One goal probably wins it.

It's because we're missing a lot of key players and you have the new manager bounce, as well as that you're coming off a very good victory in Europe.

Also we've been very conservative in big games this season, which I'm worried will invite pressure onto us.

It’s the same before every game these days! Who’d have thought we were in second place in the league, still in the FA Cup and Europa League.

Massive game today- a win and we are pretty much guaranteed top four; lose and we’re back in with a scrap on out hands. Chelsea have improved but still have some major flaws that we can capitalise on!

McTominay will be a big miss for this game. Need his energy, ability to drive with the ball something both Matic and Fred lacks (for Fred, he lacks ability to drive with the ball).

Not sure if this has already been asked in the thread, but have any teams played a counter attacking style against them yet?

It seems Tuchel wants them to pass the ball as much as possible, but has it left them open to many counters?

If it did then I’d say let them have the ball and we can do what we did to the top teams last season and nick a goal here or there. With our current midfield options I don’t think us monopolising possession is gonna happen anyway.
