Last night wasn't great, but I think Southampton deserve great credit for that. Their energy levels mixed with our tired looking midfield made for a very tough match up. CP is a completely different type of opponent, one which we should be able to control the ball with ease.

Just hope we can break them down and get a few goals cushion. Last night was on a knife edge for way too long, and it seemed everything conspired against us in the end. The equaliser felt inevitable.

    Still confident.

Southampton are a significantly better side than Palace and I would expect them to be pushing for Europe next season. Ings is a constant threat with his movement and finishing ability, Redmond takes players on and scores goals, Armstrong is a quality midfielder that supports the attack and scores goals, they've got good overlapping fullbacks, strong set-pieces from JWP and quick impact players like Obafemi that they can bring off the bench to make a difference. Just a really good upper mid-table side at the moment with a very good manager.

Now Palace. Excellent goalkeeper but beyond that I am struggling. Very old back 4 with one full back that can attack but not defend and another one who can defend but not attack. Pedestrian, old midfield with absolutely no creativity or technical quality, no centre forward whatsoever, one winger who doesn't want to be there and another who does his best work on Talksport these days and is no threat whatsoever. Add in no pressing, useless set-pieces (1 goal from 165 corners), a pathetic subs bench that the manager refuses to use anyway and a general park the bus mentality and I think we may have a bloodbath on our hands.
They're three points ahead despite Palace losing their last five games. There was nothing between these teams before COVID-19. With Palace's current form, sure, you seem to be in freefall (could be a lack of motivation?). But I'm sure you will raise your game and it won't be a bloodbath. In fact, I expect a plucky home win, 2-1.

Yeah, I think you’ll play into our hands a bit — assuming we show up with the form we’ve been in pre-Saints.

They had a terrible start, don't let that fool you. They came to Selhurst in January and ran absolute rings around us on the night, scored two cracking goals and completely outclassed us. If you fancy a Palace 2-1 then you're a mad man :D

If its the same startingn11 again. Ole needs a slap in the head. The damn players need a bit more rest.

It's what we do in this post-Fergie era: we provide lifts for teams who are absolutely down and out.

I think you can make a case for resting one of the front three, in favour of Ighalo.

Pogba and Fernandes also look pretty knackered, but I'm more nervous about dropping one of them.
I expect us to have about 65% of the ball and not have to run as much. Pogba & Bruno should control the game, but if we need someone else to come into the middle of the pitch if Palace defend well enough, we can replace one of them for Mata I guess.

The only way we lose this game is if all of our forwards are not clinical and Palace score at least 2 goals on the counter IMO.

Don't see many changes tbh except maybe McSauce for Matic, and in LB too.

Get them early goals and make subs. Expecting a proper reaction!

Zaha always seems to up the ante vs us, but it has worked in our favour usually as he tends to overdo it and gets greedy. Hopefully the same Zaha turns up.

Not confident though. We looked absolutely gassed last night, and have looked leggy in the final 30 minutes in other games since the restart.

Everything rides on the league now. No point making changes unless they are forced. We should go full throttle, go a couple of goals up and then make changes. Otherwise what are we making changes for?

That team in terms of quality would be closer to Crystal Palace's team than the one we fielded against Southampton.

Really disappointed with last night, though after half time it looked like it was almost inevitable they'd equalise. I guess we need to see how Shaw and Williams are after both coming off, perhaps Dalot will come in at LB. I'd like to be able to give one of Matic or Bruno a rest, but it would be a risk to rest both as we need the points. Greenwood could maybe drop out for James, so we can liven the game up if we need it.

No chance should Greenwood be dropped. He had a quiet game against Southampton but he’s still our best RW by a mile. Palace will sit deeper than Southampton so we will really need that quality in the final third which Greenwood provides. James is also a liability at the moment!

    2-0 to United

United are creating so many chances. Just need to put them away
2-0 is not enough. We have worse GD than Leicester, and we need to have better by the time we play them (so that a draw is in our favour).
As such (and assuming Leicester also wins his games) we must win against Palace and West Ham by 3 or 4, in both.

They (our opponents) don't just turn up to fly kites you know? They're actually professional football players too! :D

The fitness isn't looking great, and the extra gruelling 120 mins in the FA cup has surely been a factor.

While it may sound counter intuitive, if I were Ole, I may just give the boys a day off, or an easy recovery session.

It's a hard choice between working on systems specifically against Palace vs The players getting a full day of rest.

FFS, 3 points is what we need. Stop talking about scoring 3 and 4

Leicester will not beat Tottenham away. If we get 3 points against Palace and West Ham, we'll only need to avoid defeat in the final game.

Priority should be winning games and maintaining fitness levels. Not stressing over how many goals we win by.

I'm not relying on a Spurs team managed by Jose to do us a favour...

Don't think we can afford to rest many players. We need our best 11 and these 3 PL games are too important to be resting players IMO. Maybe the odd one who is exhausted.

Not necessary, if we're level on points by the end of the season (assuming we don't lose our game against them) we get CL because of head-to-head.

League has new rules for separating teams who finish on the same number of points in relegation/European qualification spots.

No ... Hence the "if", do you ask that question of everyone that posts the choices they'd like to see in a game?

Edit: Actually, this game. There have been plenty of suggestions regarding how we deal with the fatigue, why does this one pique your interest?

Especially considering Ole has specifically said he's done that in the past between close games

They won't be doing us a favour, they'll be playing for their own fans and for getting into the EL spots. And have you seen Leicester recently? They're gash.

Score first and we will be fine but we can’t be fecking about early on like we have recently. Need Bruno to be hot on it like he started at Brighton.

    So are Spurs
I think we have more chance of Sheffield United taking points off Liecester

yeah. I’m puzzled with the ‘top 4 gone’ mentality. Leicester dropped 12 points since the restart. Even if they and us win both games, we get to play them final day. As far as i am concerned, if we cant beat them then we dont deserve the CL, why do Some of our fans talk like shithouses, thinking our only chance is for smaller teams to do us favours so we can creep into the top 4?

Not even comparable form. Spurs have 11/18 points since the restart despite having harder fixtures and Leicester have 6/18. Spurs also have the home advantage, however small that is. They played 4 games at home and have 3 wins against Arsenal, Everton and West Ham with only one draw... against us.

Leicester ain't winning there on their restart form. They couldn't beat Bournemouth, Brighton and Watford ffs.

We're awful at the moment, average age of our first team is 31 and we've been found out big time with games coming at this intensity. Not to mention Roy's fixation on playing the same underperforming players game in, game out rather than bringing in fresh legs.

We've also lost Benteke for the season now so we don't have a recognised (and I use the term loosely in his case) centre-forward. All doom and gloom down at Selhurst at the moment and I expect if you come out of the blocks quickly (as I expect you to) it'll be the most comfortable evening you have all season.
good to hear, I’d be more worried about Ayew /zaha than benteke plus our defence is in a bad way at the moment, Mcguire and lindaloff are both massively out of form and even Wan-Bissaka has looked really lethargic lately, shaw and Williams possibly missing out with Dalot coming in and our defence is pretty shambolic.

hopefully you’re right though and we basically just out attack you and get a couple early goals like you said and we should be ok.
