Obligatory 'must win game now that others have dropped points' and 'we never ever take advantage when others drop points' post.

I wish Everton put the same amount of effort and quality into their games with Liverpool as they do with us every bloody year

And now Chelski as I started typing.

I'll settle for a draw tomorrow because lets face it, Everton aren't exactly a pushover since Christmas.

And Ancelotti v OGS is probably a mismatch when it comes to tactics and game management.

Having said all that, they're probably more likely to score than us so I'll take 0-0 as a decent result under the circumstances.
    Why is it a mis-match?

    Aye.

They are the biggest derby bottlers in world football, bar none. They turn into Brazil 1970 regens when United roll into town, however. fecking disgraceful and an embarrassment to their club.

Great opportunity to go within 1 point of 4th spot so let's hope we can get a win at Goodison.
Just for a bit today I thought we might just have the opportunity to go 4th on goal difference tomorrow but credit Chelsea they penned them in and Bournemouth did well to hold on for a point

Utd games matter more these then Liverpool. Having not beaten Liv this century at Anfield...yes let that sink in, given the awful liv teams over the last 2 decades. It just shows how they approach these respective games.

Watching them agaisnt Arsenal last week Ancelotti went for it and what was on show was two poor defenses and basically they lost the shootout, I doubt with his experience he will approach us the same way, I expect them to play deep and defensive and try to utilize the counter.

Hopefully Martial is fit to start and while I'd like to keep Mata in given his link-up with Bruno I feel we need to switch system to deal with ourleft side issue and I can't see Ole playing Bruno deeper with Mata in the 10 as it'll be either McTominay or Matic with Fred.

Lindelof and Matic will probably start but this is what I'd go with.

I like this line-up. If Martial is injured, Ighalo for him but the rest - the same. I am afraid Ole may play Mata or Ighalo instead of starting Greenwood.

You've got the wrong scousers mate. We're playing Everton, not Liverpool.

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"
Have you seen Chelsea's run in? We've probably got one of the easiest of the top 7/8 teams. You're making the bold assumption that regardless what United do, Chelsea are going to win all of their remaining games. That's never going to happen, so yes, we could still possibly overturn a 6 point deficit.

As I was typing this, Bournemouth have just equalised.
They've got Everton, City, Villa, West ham, Watford, Palace, Sheffield United, Norwich, Liverpool and Wolves. They've got Sheffield United and Liverpool away... Liverpool who could well be resting players (9th May) if title won/still in Europe.

We've got Everton, City, Spurs, Sheffield United, Brighton, Bournemouth, Villa, Southampton, Palace, West Ham and Leicester. Everton, Spurs and Leicester are away

6 opponents the same. I think there's not much in it, but they've (currently) got the points on the board. If we beat Everton, game on.

Got a feeling our good run of form might come to an end against Everton, They are one of the teams i hate playing against the most, always a tough place to go but hoping we come away with a good result just to pile the pressure on the rent boys

    Hmmmm.....

and has won domestic titles in Italy, England, France, Spain, and Germany.

None whatsoever....He hasn't won one in Norway, has he....
What's that got to do with winning a game of football??? He's already beaten Guardiola, Mourinho and Tuchel amongst others so I don't get your point.

Are you saying that just because Ancelotti has all those titles, Solskjaer will not beat him tomorrow? I seriously hope that's not what you're getting at.

Liverpool lost, Chelsea dropped points... a great weekend so far.

I am hoping that Manchester United wont ruin it by dropping points but dropping points at these moments seems to have become a thing ever since Fergie retired. :(

Also Tottenham are playing Wolves tomorrow. One or both teams will drop points in that game.

Just hope to God we don’t drop points as well.

I'm going 2-3. Our tails are up and Bruno is pulling the strings. Think they will cause us problems too though.

How often are both Martial and Rashford available? Must be less than 30% of our games this season.

Martial is quite injury prone and not replacing Lukaku led to too much pressure on Rashford and in the end a serious long term stress injury.

Gutted Martial is out for this. Just when we were beginning to get players back from injuries, we suffer yet another one in a position we are already short on. Lucky we did sign Ighalo otherwise could you imagine if we didn’t and ended up with Martial joining Rashford on the sidelines? :nervous:

Yeah much as he was a last minute buy he could prove a real asset with Martial out injured yet again, who do people think will start tomorrow out of him and Mason.

This has got to be one of the hardest fixtures going right now. Everton are in decent form and offer quite the goal threat. It’s a real shame Martial is out, he was already starting to build a rapport with Bruno and we could definitely use that in a game like this.

Midfield battle is going to be key on their small and narrow pitch. Last season’s match at Goodison, they absolutely battered and overrun us in that area. Feeling a little more confident this time though that we won’t let that happen again in this game. Matic has shown his best run of form since he joined. Fred is by far the most improved player in the country & is just getting better and better. Fernandes has been a revelation and gives us that creative spark in the final 3rd which is something we have missed all season. It will be a close game but one that I think we will nick.

    Starting XI

    De Gea

    Wan-Bissaka
    Bailly
    Maguire
    Shaw
    Williams

    Fred
    Matic

    Fernandes

    Ighalo
    James

    subs:
    Romero
    Dalot
    Lindelof
    McTominay
    Mata
    Lingard
    Greenwood

    Score Prediction:
    Everton 1-2 Manchester United

Bit off topic but if we won the EL and came 5th and Everton came 6th would they get a CL place?

No. EL win doesn't add a spot for CL in the league if the winner is already in the CL position.

Agree with that apart from would swap Lingard for Chong on the bench, presumably Gomes isn't getting a look in as he is unwilling to sign that contract we have offered him.

Agreed, hope it isn't too long an injury but it might not be as huge a loss as people make out. If we look at how we have played in the last couple of games, in essence, we look at what Bruno has brought to the pitch. We now have a midfielder who will have a pop from outside the box and will invariably offer an attack from a slightly deeper position, making the defenders more cautious and leave little spaces for the forwards to run into creating more space for us.

Considering how static Martial is and how mobile James, Greenwood and Ighalo are surely thr stat's are more in favour of a utd win without Martial. Just my thoughts.

I don't want James to start but I expect Ole to start him.

    My team would be:
    De Gea
    AWB--Bailly--Maguire--Shaw
    Matic--Fred
    Greenwood--Bruno--James
    Ighalo

Mobility isn't great if you're not actually good at football (this is directed at James)

Martial missing is a huge loss

If we lose the midfield we will be in big trouble. Carlo is the Sacchi style manager and does not lose the centre and if we do not be careful in midfield Everton will win. They also play two up front, so Bailly needs to play and also he needs to be aware of what is going on.
I would go with Bailly instead of Lindelof as they play two up front and both of them have pace. It is better for us to play with only two strikers and play Scott, Fred, Matic and play Bruno in midfield and Ighalo up front with James. Let James run riot for the first half and then bring on Mason later on.

I think Greenwood has to start for goals. Unless we play very conservative. I hope Baily starts too but doubt he plays after Thursday. Sure course use him be their athleticism.
