We're in for a struggle again but I'm glad some players are rested, F.A cup is way down the priority list this season.

Looks like we'll be a very solid team, but going to be hard to score. My team selection for this has been battered. Hopefully we get a decent ref who's not a homer.
Homer refs haven't been our problem.

Scoring when we've created great opportunities has. It has been far better than last season but we still need to put teams away

    Losing to Comeback Winning!
Rational starting player selection. Lindelof playing CB is slightly worrying but I suppose he should be given chances, rather now than later games. Smalling to deal with their aerial attacks, right partner to Lindelof for this game. Plenty of defensive cover with Matic and Carrick supported by McTominay. We should be able to dominate this game with this midfield combo. Young and Shaw to overlap a lot with our two CDM covering. Our attacks may struggle to breakthrough if Huddersfield park the bus and playing rough to our attackers. Hopefully Sanchez, Mata and Lukaku are at their best.

 Bailly is back on the bench.

Hopefully Smalling takes some fecking responsibility and plays the senior CB

Oddly enough - since this is the only trophy we can win this season. We have a 0% chance of winning the league, we have a 1% chance of winning the Champions League and we are out of the League Cup already.

Hope the other teams have the same mentality, then we’ll have a chance of winning the cup. Highist priority for me, which does not automatically mean it should have any impact on our league campaign.

lot of pressure of Mata, Sanchez and Lukaku to perform and produce

think we will be solid with that side and win 2-0

A line-up that the caf collectively don't like?

    A comfortable win then.

Looks a slow but balanced side for once, with all the players except for Young playing in their best positions, though Carrick a bit further forward than normal. Really, we should be beating the likes of Huddersfield with these players. Different against the better sides.

We lost the away game in the league with a full team, so now we expect to win against them with a weaker team. Good luck to the players, hopefully Lukaku can amp up his woeful goalscoring record - and perhaps score two for a change? Hasn’t happened a lot this season for any of our players.

Young's better at leftback than rightback?

A paltry 6/11! Hope Gomes gets a good run out today. Really don't fancy that lineup but we should just nick it. 2-1 to United.

We also beat them with a less than full strength team

    I'm expecting a tight affair

Do you think we lost to them in the league because they are a better team? They are shit. It was a bad day at the office.

Happy to see Lindelof back, Smalling though? Will be a tough game considering the line up but hopefully we'll be alright.

    Glad to see Bailly back.

Hope Sergio is not shaky today as he's not looked confident the last couple times I've seen him.

    Anyway, Come on United!

With Sevilla midweek, he's playing Matic? If he runs anymore, his feet will sink into the pitch.

Guess Jose's afraid to take Huddersfield lightly since we lost against them here, 3 man midfield needed with hardly any fit midfielders.

Are you really saying that this team shouldn't beat Huddersfield, who are one of the worst sides in the Premiership. The problem is most of our players never perform to their ability, which is caused in part in the tactics & many of them constantly out of their best positions.

Not sure how this will go to be honest, hopefully a decent performance with a few goals and into the QFs without any injuries.

We are semi depleted in midfield so unfortunately Matic has to play...

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time

If you want to see Lindelof, it's almost certain that Smalling will partner him. It's been the case all season, and I don't expect it to change any time soon. He's the best able to cover for Lindelof's weaknesses. In fact, I guess you can turn that around and say that Lindelof may also be the best at covering for Smalling's weakness (lack of ability on the ball).

He had his spine removed sometime last summer.
That's what I'm trying to find out, whether it's a total lack of confidence from the manager or something less dramatic.

Looking forward to seeing McTominay, I think his best role is when he has freedom to make runs from deeper as he is good at disrupting the opposition. Could be a big game for him.
