The team that completed today’s game with Herrera is seriously good. Technically has a few more gears and with a more fit Sanchez might surprise juventus. Been advocating dropping lukaku since game 3. Shit link up play plus all United players repeatedly crossing to aid lukaku has been our undoing so far. We look so technically better without him.

Juventus is simply a better side than us and we are going to lose no doubt. Hopefully not a trashing though.

Juventus are probably going to win this, seeing as they're being widely tipped to win the CL this year, but I hope we have a go at them and look dangerous.

Just go on and attack. I don't care anymore. Have a go at them.
My thoughts, too. If we set up defensively we'll inevitably concede and have to attack anyway. Martial, Alexis & Pogba can cause them problems.

I’d bring lukaku back in for this one. Let him stake a claim for the derby but If he fails stick with what we’ve been doing.

It’s a bit of a freebie, no one really expects us to win so we might as well go out there and just go at them and see what happens.

What’s the crack with Fellaini injured?

Need to be positive. When we did that against them in the 2nd half we were the better team, and if Pogbas shot was 2 inches further to the right I'm sure people would have given us a bit more credit for the performance in that half.

Play for a win. Not like kids. That's what Jose should be doing but oh well you know..

    Juve away then City away.

    This week could be brutal.

What impressed me most about Juventus in the last game was how much purpose there was to their passing. Nobody made a pass because they'd run out of ideas. Everyone had a clear understanding of what should happen next. It was really pleasing on the eye.

I'd love to see United follow the same model. We've not played that way since 2007, despite the success in the latter Fergie years.

If I had to pick a loss and a draw over our next two matches I'd take a loss at Juve and a draw at City. Of course, two wins would be better I just don't see us managing that. We're leaking goals and will be up against two teams that score plenty. Jose will play for the draw in both and perhaps we get away with minimal damage.

Same team as previous except Rashford coming in for Mata and Herrera for Matic.

Hope Jose doesn't spend the pre-match and post-match interviews sucking off Juve. We already dont expect much from this. Why not set out to shock the world rather than getting the excuses in

They're good but not that good. It'll be another close game in the scoreline but the performance who knows?
I'd expect Juve to put us to the sword if we start the game in the manner we did against Bournemouth.

    5-0 is pushing it, though.

Mourinho's comments two weeks ago sound even more ridiculous knowing we were still going to face them again.
What's the point when the manager doesn't think you can compete?

You actually have decent chances to win this since we have a lot players either injured (Mandzukic and Costa) or that just got back from injuries and haven’t played yet (Bernardeschi, Khedira and Chiellini). Plus yesterday Pjanic, Matuidi and Bentancur are clearly fatigued as they have always played for two/three weeks in a row.

In terms of form we are in a bad situation right now, we have barely 11 fully fit starters.

We will probably get trashed. Juventus 5:0.
Juve don't do trashings. 13 wins in 14 games this season but the only win by more than 2 goals was Young Boys at home (3-0).

They'll pretty much stop attacking if they have the lead.

I think we need to go with a 'hard-working' kind of team, so Herrera, Rashford, and Lingard to replace Sanchez, Fred, and Mata for me. Still, think we'll lose this game, or at best sneak a draw, but I am almost OK with it as I can just accept we're currently not good enough. Maybe we'll get a bit of continuity and this same XI can go into the City game and do us proud:

    de Gea
    Young Smalling Lindelof Shaw
    Herrera Matic Pogba
    Lingard Rashford Martial

I dunno about us getting a result over there but I wouldn't put it past United to put in a performance. The team owes the supporters after that debacle at home so pride is on the line. I think we'll get out of the group but it would be nice to do so with a point or more in Turin.

Absolutely agree the team owes the supporters a real performance.

I am relatively new to this brilliant forum and while we will never all agree about most of the threads, the incredible fervour and passion shown by United fans is staggering.

Not just that but our attendances still dwarf our rivals.

Of course we were all spoilt by the fantastic SAF era but my admiration for our loyal supporters is such that the players really need do need to up their game and give them something to cheer about and beating Juve would be a good start.

Thought Sanchez played quite well yesterday. Hope he gets a run of games. Going for a 2-2 in this one. I think we're gonna surprise a few on Wednesday.

I know I've got zero chance of seeing it, but I'd love to see us actually go to play a pressing game and line up like this.

Few explanations I suppose. Dalot would be throwing him into the lion's den, but he can't be much worse than our other RB options.

Herrera over Matic all day and twice on Tuesday. He looks leggy and lost.

Sanchez instead of Mata to enable the front 6 to press, we'd have to carry Martial in that sense, but I think the rest of that front 6 could pose Juventus problems whilst they've got the ball.

Debatable seeing as a draw will probably put us through to knockout.

I'd just go offensive and see what happens. We're not going to win by parking the bus but then we had quite an attacking side at OT and did exactly that so perhaps it doesn't matter who plays.

I'd say you're not too far off. Only alternates I would guess is maybe Bailly instead of Rojo and if I were optimistic, Matic on the bench. I think Jose is more worried about Sunday than Wednesday.
Lukaku might even start if he's fit with Rashford as a sub.

Juve seems to love the nothing pass after going a goal up so its not as if we're out of the game if we attack and let 1 in.
Lets go for a Sunday dry run and get after them.

    ------------De Gea-------------
    Young Smalling Lindelof Shaw
    -----------Herrera-------------
    ---------Fred Pogba-----------
    ---Lingard Sanchez Martial---

with the attack frequently switching to

    -------------Lingard-------------
    -------Sanchez----Martial------

I think this team would be good (though I know it will not happen), would have intensity, movement and could cause problems. I liked Sanchez on the weekend, so I'd prefer him to continue there. Lingard provides good positioning and is the fastest player on the ball on our side, so he should start imo.

    Honestly so would i

I put us at about 25% chance of a draw, 5% win. If it wasn't Jose in charge i think more people would be content with us going for the draw under these circumstances at least that used to be the way on here from what i recall.
