We look solid defensively. Already notice what Mourinho was saying about changing from the man marking Van Gaal liked from the center backs to controlling the zones more. Bailly is class as well.

Rooney had decent moments, and then plenty of moments where he can't control the ball. Standard. Ibra not too involved. Martial invisible. Lingard chanelled Messi for that goal and was solid otherwise. Valencia and Shaw class. Fellaini decent defensively but on the ball lacking as usual. Hopefully Mkhitaryan, Mata and Rashford get a decent amount of time in the second half.

That was like a breath of fresh air that 45 minutes, attacking players switching positions, Rooney looking like Rooney of old, a great individual goal from Lingard, Bailly looking a beast at the back

    Very very happy with that

Although I'm not going to go judging him on pre-season, I'm not surprised Mkihataryan is being dropped. He seems to have been very reserved and half-arsed so far, hasn't got involved in the games atall.
This. Would have thought he'd be starting but I guess that's his demeanor. Kind of like Martial, that no smile, little emotion kind of players. But lets see what he does in the second half, sure he will come on for Rooney.

Makes you look like a twat to be fair. The whole reason the boo boys on here hate the man is his size and hair and the fact he wasnt Thiago Alcantara. Because of that he gets unfairly shat on every time.
He's shite, and yes he does look like a bufoon.

I'm not going to get into a debate over the ethics of the comments, i'll say i did jump the bandwagon a bit by calling it racist, it's simply ignorant, i'll start another thread so this doesn't turn nasty.

Mickey on for Rooney, only change needed, will allow Ibra to stay further up and the wingers actually might get found with a pass or two.

Martial and Zlatan need to be more involved. No idea how they should do that, but they need to do it anyway. Midfield is offering very little going forward, so perhaps that is the issue. I'd like to see Mkhitaryan out there, ideally for Rooney who is clearly struggling.

That's in his natural game to drop deep to recieve the ball and link-up play.
I see, I thought it was different but I can't say I've seen too much of him to properly analyse his game anyway.

Nice little bit of raciscm from the commentator branding fellaini's hair ridiculous and silly because he's dyed it. If his hair was straight there would be no problem.

Maybe have a quick look to see what people said about Messi's hair.

Bit shit that half, our play is certainly not great but we are winning. Still a lot of work to do before we see something not resembling last years bore fest. Hope Mkhitaryan comes on for Wayne.
Positives have been Shaw and Bailly looking decent. Rooney and Zlatan 10/9 at present is pretty terrible both dropping way too deep. Everyone else have been meh to OK.

Our attack still needs time to gel and Carrick-Fellaini is hardly optimal CM duo, but even when it does not come off, it's visible we try to get ball forward quickly in at least 50% of the cases and in in other 50% we pass it back to retain possession.
That's already much better than last year.

What is this magical power Rooney has over every manager he plays under. Moyes, Van Gaal, Hodgson and now Mourinho he has been crap for all of them but they still play him. I just hope Mourinho doesn't stick with him as long as the others did as it will cost us.

Yeah, Zlatan is tall but we love him.

Its not silly, you ask them why they dont like him. Go on. He hasnt even been our worst player the 3 years he has been here.
He's disliked because he's an elbow throwing poor footballer who's indicative of the midtable thinking of Moyes.

    But he is not blonde
Yeah but his natural hair is naturally daft so calling it daft is racist or something. I'm bald on the top of my head so if I was to grow mine out it would look like a bird's nest, which would also be daft even before I dyed it ginger blonde. But it would be racist to say it was, I think. Maybe. I'm not quite sure what the argument is in the first place though.
