According to Samuel, Mourinho confirms Young, Lingard and Rashford will start vs Liverpool. #mufc

They’ll not hammer us, they never do.

They’ll outlplay us and win but I suspect it will be a close score. Probably 2-1 loss, might sneak a draw.
What I believe aswell. We'll get outplayed but the result can go either way.

    Dalot Smalling Jones Young
    Herrera Matic fellaini
    Lingard Rashford Martial

If 4 atb, if 5atb then add Rojo or Bailly and get rid of Fellaini.

This is just a prediction mind, not my preferred, though my preferred wouldnt have Pogba or Lukaku anywhere near the lineup either.

We either lose 1 or 2-0 or its a draw, dont see us getting a win unless Martial or Rashford get lucky or do something special. Maybe if lindelof wasnt inured, but our defence is literally donkey shite

Not looking forward to this at all. Our defence is shocking at the moment. Can see us shipping 3-4 goals. Hopefully De Gea plays a blinder and the good version of Martial turns up. I don't think Pogba will start and until recently he was our one creative spark in midfield that could do something to win a game.

Sit in deep, pack the midfield, punt it up to Lukaku and take the points. We can do it.

Matić is well rested for this one.
    Matić, Fellaini, Ander midfield probably.
I just hope Martial will be fit.

This will probably be our worst ever result at Anfield in the modern era. It’ll be an absolute pasting. I reckon 5-0.

It’s the first time I won’t have any nerves going into this game. I’m not bothered, I'm clearly expecting to be whooped, f*ck it... this is what it has come to.

I bet it won't be like that, despite the fact we're crap. Every time people expect a pasting it never actually happens.

I think this team picks itself

    -----------------------DDG---------------------
    Dalot-------Smalling--Bailly----young
    ---------Herrera--Matic--Fellaini---------
    Lingard-------Rashford------------martial

worried about Dalot's positioning - hope Herrera covers him but he can get good ball in

    Pogba/Mata later in the game

I loathe to play Lukaku at the minute but he will play if Martial isn't fit and will have to fight to get onto some of those Dalot crosses

we've played plenty of games with 6 or so 6 foot plus players - when was the last time we did anything at set pieces

Very hard to pick a preferred starting 11 due to awful performances, players being put out of position and injuries.

This is my preferred line-up, but depends on whether Martial is back.

    De Gea

    Dalot, Smalling, Bailley, Young*

    Fred**, Pogba***, Herrera

    Lingard, Rashford, Martial****

    *assumed Shaw is injured

** Not great against Valencia, but he was set-up to fail in that bizarre formation

*** Not been great recently, but he is our best midfielder by far and can hopefully raise it against Liverpool

**** if he is injured still, then I'm scratching my head as we've no one to provide width. Solution is either Lukkaku at RW or throw Greenwood in at the deep end

It is a game I would be delighted if we win, but then would be angry if we won as I would want to know why we cannot do that in other games. Mixed emotions.

Pathetic performance where we can barely string 2 passes together . 4-1 Liverpool.

So it’s a team that always concedes and struggles to score travelling to another that doesn’t concede and has goals coming out of every orifice.

A perfect match to stick £20 against Man Utd to dampen the inevitable depression.

Been too long since we won against United. All I ask, with Respect, towards the end of the match, is for our fans to be able to sing to Mourinho 'You'll be sacked in the morning'

Haven't felt this confident before a United game in a long time (probably the 0-3 at Old Trafford back in '14), but I still think it's gonna be a nail-biter no matter how for apart our two clubs seem to be at the moment.

An early goal would obviously be ideal. I think we'll just be too much for you in the end, but you never know with Liverpool-United, especially with Mourinho still at the helm. At least I'm looking forward to the game instead of dreading it like I usually do.

This could be ugly. Maybe we can be game raising bastards for one week and hold them to a draw or even fluke a win Juventus style & dent their title challenge.

Jose is saying most of the players named in the line ups are injured. So he could be fibbing or it could be a thrashing.

Bit weird for Liverpool to be clear favorites, can't remember the last time that happened. That said, even if things aren't exactly rosy for you, Mourinho is a master at these kind of games and I expect this game to be as tight as they come.

If Martial isn't fit i'd play Rashford up top with Jesse just behind him, De Gea obviously and then the best 8 fit outfield players we've got who if nothing else are good at just bloody getting in the way, be it by luck or good judgment.

    0-1 to United
In your coldest, most sober, and rational moments you don't see Liverpool scoring against what is -and let's be fair about this- the most messed up Utd side since relegation in the early 70s?

Christ the grey on that pie chart is enormous; it looms over the thread like the bloody UFO in Independence Day. I've gone with an optimistic 1 apiece, as we shouldn't underestimate our ability to a. comeback in games and b. make any game, big or small, a grinding battle of attrition.

First time in my life I’m not excited for this match. I’d usually be buzzing all week looking forward to this game, the one you look for first when the fixtures are released...gutted.
To be completely honest, I'm never excited for Anfield. I usually dread it as most of the time it's a terrible game of football, scrappy and often nasty. And that fecking roar when they score is unbearable.

This time I'm quite apathetic though. I'm resigned to a loss or at best an unwatchable 0-0 draw. Anything better than that would be a bonus. But really, the result is only important for Liverpool. Our league season is done.

I looked it up and was actually quite surprised that we've failed to scored in 5 home games since the start of last season - City, Stoke, West Brom, Porto and United.

Quite more than I expected it to be, so it's certainly possible to shut us out.

Although when arsenal came to OT with their reserves, everyone expected a thrashing and it was worse than expected. 8-2

Think we will lose 3 or 4-1.

Think we will get a thrashing as I dont think their forwards will be off form and I can definitely see us being shite bar 5 mins each half where they actually give a crap.

If this happens Jose surely must be teetering on the brink with losing 1/3 of our games this season before Christmas.

On current form the Dippers should win by 3 at least. Its quite possible that they will win by 3 or 4.
Most likely result is 1 or 2 nil to them .
Being the optimist that I am I predict a jammy 1 nil to us.
