I'll be happy to avoid a hammering. Don't think we will get anywhere near them and just hope we can keep the score down to two goals or less.

    Depressing times!

0-0 draw or an absolute hammering. If you told me we could lose 8-0 and Mourinho would get sacked the next day I would stomach the 90 minute slaughtering

If Lukaku starts I may just tear up. He is too pathetic to play for this club. Should never start again while he plays like he currently does.

It will be horrendous. 10 men behind the ball the entire game playing for a 0-0. We have managed to get that result the last two season, can't see us getting it again.

Maybe this club needs a hammering from our biggest rival... change is needed.

I'm just sick of going into these games as underdogs 10 men behind the ball and parking the bus . All the talk in the build up will be their attack and how we've got to nullify them. Nothing about us the other way and what we could do to hurt their defence even though they'll be missing two men.
I'm not saying we've got to open ourselves up and play gung football - nobody can do that at Anfield but just shows how far we've regressed that people actually want to keep the score down instead of having any optimisim we can go there and get a result.

Yep the pre-match analysis (of the squads/tactics) will be no different than if it were West Ham going to Anfield.

I fully believe most of this squad don't want to be picked for this game. They're terrified of what's going to happen to them.

This is all set up for the most humiliating result since the 6-1.

    De Gea
    Dalot Bailly Smalling Rojo Young
    Herrera Matic Lingard
    Rashford Martial

That will surely be the team.
I certainly hope not. 5 defenders means the ball will be in our end for almost the entire game. Plus Smalling is injured. I think we will line up with most of those players but in a different formation

    --------------------De Gea------------------
    Dalot-----Bailley----------Rojo-------Young
    --------------------Matic--------------------
    ---------Herrara----------Fellaini-----------
    Lingard----------Rashford---------Martial

I want to put Pogba in the starting XI and I won't be surprised if he is in Fellaini's place, but I just don't think he did anything yesterday that says he should be. We'll see...

The crazy thing is Fellaini DEFINITELY didn't do enough to earn a spot. Seeing who Jose goes with will say it all.

Did a combined XI on BBC's website and ended up with this.

Alisson; TAA, Gomez, VVD, Robertson; Hererra, Keita, Pogba; Salah, Firmino, Martial.

Not sure I'm happy with it though.

Strange as it sounds, these are the last 7 results of Liverpool vs. United matches at Anfield in the league:

    11/12: 1-1
    12/13: 1-2
    13/14: 1-0
    14/15: 1-2
    15/16: 0-1
    16/17: 0-0
    17/18: 0-0

Since October 25, 2009 ... only Kuyt, Gerrard and Sturridge have scored at Anfield against United (in the league).

Mental when you think about it.

If it was up to me I'd probably do something like:
    De Gea
    Valencia Bailly Smalling Shaw
    Fred Herrera Pogba
    Mata
    Rashford Martial

Too soon for Dalot in a game like this, young has a decent history against Salah though tbf to him. Not a chance a few of these play though.

my head is saying this is going to be embarrassing - we've an expensively assembled bunch of players who don't play as a team and we are up against a vastly superior side

my heart tells me we will be defiant, we will show great spirit, we will compete from front to back and players like Rashford, Herrera and Lingard who 'get it' will be the difference

    come on United!!!!

Jose said yesterday that Smalling, Darmian, Dalot, Martial and Rojo are all injured, Sanchez too and Shaw still a doubt I guess. Going to see another odd line-up.

Think it’ll be a comfortable 2-0 or 1-0 win for Liverpool. Ultra defensive setup will prevent the score differential from being higher. By the same token, at no point in the game will we threaten of actually winning.

I think it will be a comfortable 4-0 win for Liverpool. Especially if we have to field Jones and Bailly as CB's. All indications are that we will have a back 4 of Valencia - Bailly - Jones - Young.

I was amazed and disappointed you beat us last season. Rashford made a twat out of TAA. Now that you somehow fluked Lovren back into our defence I can see Mourinho exploiting that side again. TAA doesn't like the ball coming over his shoulder and Lovren is just shit. VvD won't be able to save us all on his own. Maybe Alisson will chip in with a worldie or two.

I'm going for Utd's favourite scoreline of 2-2.

    11/12: 1-1 SAF
    12/13: 1-2 SAF
    13/14: 1-0 Moyes
    14/15: 1-2 LVG
    15/16: 0-1 LVG
    16/17: 0-0 Jose
    17/18: 0-0 Jose
Those two Jose results were with a much better performing defense. Granted, the players should be up for a match like this and perform above our expectations but we're in terrible form and a terrible mindset. We're also playing a much more tuned Liverpool side at the worst possible moment. If we come out of there with anything other than a drubbing, I'll concede that Jose should survive until next week at least.

Dont think i said that !! , he is the manager nothing we can do about it , does not look like the board is in any hurry to sack him, I have said before on here , he should be gone, but what do you want while he is still here ! to boo the team boo the manager ? We are where we are because of him and right now it is up to him to get us out of it.

Looking forward to this one with some trepidation; maybe even more than the visit to City. A goodly number of players injured, Liverpool on a roll, and discontent amongst our supporters. The players we field will have to sweat blood to get anything but if they can't do that for Liverpool away, then we really are in deep shit.

Rashford is getting into form is encoring. Liverpool aren't as attacking as they were last season. I think it'll be a 1-1 draw.

For any United fan, this will make grim reading, so I apologise in advance.

Liverpool's strongest starting lineup when everyone is fit and available is probably this:

Alisson, Trent, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Keita, Milner/Wijnaldum (nothing between those 2), Salah, Firmino, Mane

All of these players were bought by Klopp or joined in the window shortly before Klopp arrived.

On top of this XI, there's Matip, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Shaquiri and Solanke that were Klopp signings

Total transfer outlay since start of Klopp's first season is £451.50m, net spend is £159.5m

Since Mourinho joined United in the season after Klopp started, 11 first team payers have been signed, 9 of which are still at the club and only 4 are part of the most regular players this season. The net spend is £268m.

For nearly £100m lower net spend, Liverpool have built almost a completely new title challenging squad.

This is purely down to their transfer team, something United are in desperate need of.

Woodward is probably happy to see the Mourinho/Pogba battle play out in the press, as it shifts the attention away from his terrible failings in his role.

I don't think we'll get battered by them. Jose will park the bus, and we'll have 10 men behind the ball probably for the full 90 minutes.

This match will be a tight affair, and I can see them winning or it being a draw. If Lukaku starts, rest assured that we won't win.

No. How how many times were we mid table while you coasted league titles yet we were able to bring ourselves up for our only cup final of the season? That's what bitter rivalry is. And always should be.

John O Shea it at the end and I'm happy. Used to be our sentiment on Liverpool away.

Now they're actually a decent team and we are monumentally worse. Yet so many have their panties in a bunch at the prospect of us playing 10 men behind the ball? Get a grip lads.

Should be tight - might even sneak a point if Rashford continues his form. We'll definitely lose if Pogba, Jones and/or Rojo start.
