I used to dread this game before .. even when we were on the top .. but now, I am certain we will be hammered .. so have no emotions for this game ..

Wondering if it would be worth playing 1 or 2 of the youngsters with the hope that they can produce the element of surprise for the opposition and would at least know they will give it there all.

In the past when we were at our best under fergie, even a depleted liverpool side would still be challenging derby matches because they would lay it all on the line and be aggressive, unfortunately I don't see that happening with our lot, the only players that may show that derby match spirit is Jones , bailly, telles and elanga

Really struggling to think what kind of line up we'll go with, but I wouldn't be surprised to see three at the back!

    de Gea
    Bailly Maguire Lindelof
    Dalot Pogba Matic Telles
    Bruno
    Sancho Rashford

I don't really think Rashford deserves to start, but he's still probably the most likely to score for us. He's due a performance and now would be the perfect time for him to step up and give is a reason to believe he can still have successful career here.

That said, Liverpool are so much better than us. I don't remember the last time we put more than 60 minutes of a good performance in. We need a full 90 of better than we've been all season to get anything tonight. I can't see that suddenly happening.

Liverpool comfortably, by 2 or 3.
I like this setup, but I'd have Dalot and Telles more as traditional fullbacks instead of wingbacks. Dalot would struggle positionally in the WB role even more than he does as a standard fullback, Telles should be fine. AWB would be a far safer option but he isn't fit.

Either way, I hope Rangnick tries something out of the ordinary tonight. I think lining us up in standard 4231 will end badly for us as even the weaker teams see us as predictable these days.

Just saw the sky sports as voted by viewers combined liverpool united team. Not one united player. Damning.

then they did a stats based one and Fernandes and Fred got in. That’s it out of 11 players. We are so poor.

75% of predictions expecting to lose, with 5-0 loss the most picked.

    Damn.

Well, I'm surprisingly confident we're gonna get something tonight. Reckon we'll get a draw or a sneaky win.

    I put a tenner on 1-1.

At the moment, they are the team, along with City, who are flying high, so of course it's going to look like that. I'd say the same for the other teams, too. You could probably argue a few.

This fecking game, I feel like I'm in the dentists waiting room to have a tooth pulled without anaesthetic.
Strangely enough i'm not nervous at all. I'm expecting the worst already, so if we grab anything out of it will feel great.

This is the footballing equivalent of dreading going to the doctors all week for a prostate exam, and when it's all over you think "oh that wasn't too bad, all that worrying for nothing"

I can't relax/focus and just want it over with. I'm fully expecting the worst until Liverpool decide to conserve energy for the weekend and play with us for the remaining hour of the match.

You’ll always have that little bit of optimism that a unexpected result might occur, but they just smashed City in the cup and I’m trying hard but just don’t see how we get anything.

Yeah, my first thought was actually something like Dalot playing in front of Wan-Bissaka and Lingard as a false 9. I agree though, I can't see us simply playing the same system we usually do with inferior players giving us any chance.

I don't want to see the Pogba/Bruno as forwards / 10's again. Hopeful Ralf doesn't try it as we'd probably have to play Lindelof or Jones in midfield anyway.

I think it will be 2-0 or 3-0 rather than a total hammering. Liverpool will have an eye on keeping players fresh for big games ahead.

Hopefully the feeling of impending doom doesn't match reality.

But if we look vulnerable from the outset and/or they score early, we could be in a world of trouble...

Rather than an out and out hammering, I think the most likely outcome is a 2 or 3 nil win without them ever getting out of second or third gear.

They'll put us to the sword in the first 45 minutes then take it easy. They won't want to go full throttle for the whole match, not with so many games coming thick and fast.

These pricks have been gash 90% of the time these past 3-4 months so on the basis of that alone, I’m quietly confident we can create enough to cause them trouble. Let’s hope we don’t shit the bed when we get these great chances as most seem to do against Liverpool every single week.

Absolutely must keep it tighter than a duck's arse for the first 20-25 minutes.
An early goal against us and another tonking will be on the cards and probably will happen.

Agree with people saying to have some speed on the pitch. Rashford + Elanga must be starters even if Rashford has been gash for months now. He can still run a bit and a few balls over the top of TAA might mean TAA stays back a little more.

I voted for 4-0 though as I have no confidence at all we'll set up properly for this and we'll concede some sort of shitty goal after about 8 minutes.

Wow just found a mental stat , apparently Ralf leads klopp in the h2h with 6 wins to klopp's 2.
Hoping that he bumps it to the holy number.

Reckon we should pull a sickie with this one.

"Our players are not up to it ref." *cough cough* *splutter*

Who am I kidding? We'll probably win now. Nobody excepts it. We'll do them 2-0.

I wish I could let the players read the first few pages of the RAWK site on the preview of this match. Oh how I wish would get get the miracle of miracles tonight, would outshine the Leicester PL win if we can come with a trashing result from Anfield.

That's epic foreshadowing for our 6-2 victory/loss tonight.

Apparently Liverpool doing a minutes clapping at 7 mins to show their respect to Ronaldo, if true it’s a fantastic thought by their fans /club.
