Taking the next corner instead of Jones!
Gary Neville not happy with Pogba's attitude and his blue hair, saying he knows he loves football, but doesn't take it seriously enough or works hard enough.

    16:04KEY EVENT
Neville tears into Pogba ahead of kick-off
Paul Pogba’s decision to sport a blue hairstyle for today’s game has not gone down well with the former United defender...

“The problem with Pogba is he doesn’t help himself.

“I always think if you’re wise you don’t attract attention when things aren’t going your way.

    “Pogba doesn’t work like that.

“He’s got a big job to do, he’s got to be serious about football.

“Coming out here with blue hair today, win and it’s fine, lose and it will be talked about forever more by City and United fans.

    “It’s ridiculous.”
    He's not wrong IMO

However, no Mata … Jose is!

We need to start like we did against Liverpool, get at them and if we can score early hopefully they'll react like they did last week.

"tears into pogba" is incredibly hyperbolic and predictably sensationalist. I watched that interview and Jeff from Sky Sports asked him rather cheekily, and with his tongue in his cheek slightly, about the hair colour.

Gary was speaking more generally about his attitude sometimes on the pitch. The sort of attitude that many in this very forum have questioned. Of course the comments about his hair is ridiculous, but it was more of a general comment.

    The United XI makes sense
It is difficult to argue with the United XI, and not just because that’s the side I selected in the panel.

Herrera has big game pedigree and is more positive than the risk aversive McTominay.

Bailly had to come back in because he is United’s best centre half.

The front three were undroppable after last week.

What?? I’m usually ALL for Ander but isn’t he rather short of game minutes in general?
Remember Fellaini getting into the starting lineup for Sevilla after being out injured for a few weeks? Jose has no problem putting returning players in the team. Jose trusts Herrera with certain roles in games like this as well (like marking Hazard against Chelsea)

    Neville's got a point.

The hair will be pointed at by fans of both sides if Pogba is shit.

A bit like in the nineties when crappy players would wear gold coloured boots. Doing so has no upside unless you're certain you're going to perform. Pogba's not quite there yet.
Except Pogba's hair has been like that for weeks (since the games for France). He could have changed his hair now and still have people complain about how he's changing to frequently or trying to make this game about himself etc.

Not like a newspaper to sensationalise things.

    Man marking job on Silva.

Jose clearly doesn't trust Mctominay to do it, and Fellini was shit at it the last time out. Ander's his best option.

had he changed it, Neville would say "he should have focused and prepared for the derby instead of going to the hairdresser".

Pogbas hair wasn't brought up until, literally, 20 minutes ago.
Nobody gives a shit but now its a talking point.
Its like a dive in the box. A defender grazes you and nothing is made of it.
Dive and theres 20 replays slowed down looking for the slightest contact.
    Fecking hair colour!!

Don't agree, we haven't seen Herrera for a while so who say's what he'll be like. Happy to have him back if Jose's seen something though!
The one omission that bothers me is Mata …

If Moyes, LVG or Mou picked that City team in a derby away from home, they would be fecking eviscerated.
If we were 16 points ahead and the game were sandwiched between two CL quarter-final games they wouldn't be.

Jose won't want to lose to Pep. He'll shut up shop, as he always does against the big sides away.

City have a 10% chance of winning their CL tie. If they run themselves into the ground today, it'll only be 5%. They'll play their normal game, but with far less intensity.

Couple Mourinho's desire not to get beaten and Pep's desire to keep his top players fresh... and I think it'll be 0-0.
A lot of words to say “shit 0-0”

They'll bring it up if he's shit and then give him pelters. Which is the whole point and what Neville wants to protect him from.

I worry if Herrera is lacking game fitness. He is going to have to work really hard. Mata is not great coming off the bench.

After seeing City lineup, we really should have a shot at this. Will be really bad now if we lose.

How is Herrera more positive? His passing is far more limited and less expansive than McTominay. He’s in today to do a job off the ball. Hussle and harry.

Why the feck does it matter if Pogba has blue hair? All that matters is his performance on the pitch. Neville can be stupid sometimes.
    Just sometimes?

Loves a soundbite. Funnily enough, Carragher is far more reasonable

If a City player had red in their hair for the derby, would we not all be mocking him?

Irrespective of when it was done.
He did it to represent blue super saiyan from dragonball z. Never watched it in my life and even I know this, quit the whining.

Edit: so much crying over a hair to represent a dam anime, lmao.

It'll be talked about if he's shit. It always fecking is.

It's an extra rod to beat him with when he's in poor form. That's all Neville is advising him about. Read the quotes without expecting to be outraged beforehand.
