Yeah, no one can win a game for us.
We'll get a penalty and somehow win the match.
Ole is a ridiculously luck manager. It dumbfounds me every match we play that some element of luck somehow allows us to win/draw.
I think the best example was against Crystal Palace (I think it was) when we were awarded a penalty after the final whistle blew. Even now, I have no idea how that penalty was allowed to stand.

I think Barkleys back so they’ll stick Grealish out on the left?

I have a horrible feeling we will drop points here. Worried about the CBs being pressed by Watkins.
Bailly will launch him into row z

The more we play, the luckier we get.

It wasn't Crystal Palace it was Charlton Athletic or was it Milwall? Anyway Denis Irwin scored and we won

It was Brighton and it's really not that complicated: an incident happened before the final whistle, VAR reviewed it and based on that, the ref awarded a penalty.

How it was allowed to stand? It was a blatant and unforgivable hand ball from the Brighton striker during the final moment of the match which the referee hadn’t seen. It may be lucky but there’s no question it was a penalty.

We also gave a penalty away with Lindelof running and it being chipped into his arm against Crystal Palace and had Martial sent off against Tottenham where both should have been sent off which we ended up getting thumped in. Leading to one of the worst starts in our history.

If anything we were unlucky in that period and it’s maybe balancing out now.

    DDG
    AWB Bailly Maguire Shaw
    McT Fred
    Greenwood Bruno Rashford
    Martial

Attack them from the first whistle, get McT on Grealish as while I feel Fred is a slightly superior player, McT is more disciplined. Aside from that, if the front 4 are on it, especially Bruno, we will win.

    Prediction: United 2-1 Villa

    Happy New Year everyone!

Doubt he starts immeidately after being out for so long, didn't even make the squad on Monday. Even though Grealish is technically central with El Ghazi on the left, Grealish still drifts out to the left a lot. That could present issues if they double up on AWB.

Grealish playing left instead of El Ghazi would actually suit us in some ways though, as he's a ball to feet winger that rarely runs in behind, which suits AWB's defensive strengths

This is just a frighteningly shit post my friend. Maybe just go back and delete it? Not only do you not get the name of the opposition right (despite this supposedly being a one off offence to football fairness) but you also present yourself as having no grasp of how the rules work whatsoever.

    A real shocker this one

I'm surprised people who post on a football forum don't know the rules of the game.

You'd think they were up against an out of form conference team judging by the smug feckers on villatalk. They're still moaning about Bruno's penalty and how VAR always is against them, completely oblivious to the fact that they'd be in the championship if VAR had done its job and called that goal vs Sheffield. Imagine having the audacity to moan about technology being against you when you're the the only club in hawkeye era to benefit from a ghost goal, and that goal in the end being the difference between survival and relegation.

Time to school these cocky bastards and bring them back to reality.

They have Matt targett at LB and play el Ghazi ar LW. Why exactly does AWB need help with that?

El Ghazi has been very good lately but he’s not Ronaldinho.

we are at home and will be on the front foot, it’ll be Greenwood or Mata.
Looks like Barkley's coming back and Grealish will move back out to the left.

You mean the Villa team of last season would have been a walk in the park opponent.

    This year's Villa won't be.
We gave as good as we got in the 2-2 at Old Trafford. Could easily have scored 4-5 goals that day but you were pretty poor around that time (lost to Bournemouth and Watford few weeks either side of this fixture without scoring a goal). Easily one of our best performances of last season.

Villa Park yeah we weren't in it after the VAR penalty but we were all but down at that stage.

So it took over a month for the FA to ban Cavani, conveniently waiting until he’s fit again.

United should demand to see the process of how this took so bloody long.

Maybe check football rules for a start. That penalty must have shocked and angried you a lot. Closing 2020 with a car crash of a post.

You don't stay as Manchester United manager for 2 years and have your team currently sat 2nd, 3 points off top with a game in hand merely through luck.

It's important your post is called out as utter nonsense.

Now there is VAR, there really isn't any mystery about why that Brighton (not Palace) pen was given after the apparent final whistle. The ref missed it - and VAR is there to correct ref mistakes.

Ole has done superbly to get us so close to the top having had the bad luck of no pre-season and us looking like a pub team for the first 3 games due to it.

He's featured in the last 4 games for us - so it's hardly like they've just landed this on us when he's fit is it really.

the offence was a month ago. We didn’t appeal it, it should have been pretty much immediate.
It's not worked out too badly as he's done well for us in the meantime, and the games he misses probably suit us with who else is available too.

The FA would no doubt say they had to "investigate" as it's a "complex" case.

Im sure there used to be guidelines about how long these things should take.

they just make it up as they go.

Look Villa have been good so far this season and it’s a huge upgrade on last season but from reading this thread you’d think we were playing prime Barca. Watkins was a championship player last season, many of these players were in a relegation battle. I’m aware lots can change in a year but I really struggle to believe these are as good as being made out. We are the form team in the league, at home, with attackers bang in form, I think this will be pretty comfortable.
