Bournemouth seem to get an ACL injury every season.

You also have to remember that Bournemouth are using very few players - and now when they get a few injuries and a lot of fatigue, the players that come in have practically not played all season.

L.Cook, Gosling, Francis and Adam Smith are all out - and realistically Eddie Howe need to freshen up the team, but realistically there aren't many to freshen up the team with. Against Spurs the bench was Defoe, Mousset, King, Ibe, Rico and Mings. 3 of those players have played less than 150 minutes this season (Mousset, Mings and Defoe) and 2 more have played less than 350 minutes (Rico and Ibe) so they basically had one player on the bench who played regular football this season in King.

Bournemouth in total have only used 19 outfield players this season (in reality only 16 - because 3 of them have played next to nothing) - and 4 of these are now injured. Compare that to United who realistically could use the following players who did not start against Huddersfield: Fellaini, Perreira, Sanchez, Lukaku, Martial, Young, Herrera and Bailly. Not to mention that Bournemouth realistically have a more important game 3 days later - Watford at home (important as in much bigger chance of winning)

So - I think this could be a tough game for Bournemouth

Sanchez and Lukaku would be eager to get into this team. They have a great opportunity to get the fans back on their side after a horrible first six months. Ole couldn't have been more clear. It's upto them now to step up and show their true level.

Went for 5-1, we're like a teenage boy going through puberty, no clean sheets.

I'd like to see Martial back in from the start, we lacked a sparkle without him on Boxing Day. Hope to see Victor Beckenbauer keep up the good form.

I guess we could thank Mourinho for resting Pogba in time for the busy Christmas/New Year programme. He should be fine for the next couple of games, then I'd rest him for Reading. I like the way Ole has managed the rotations so far, not too many at a time. We'll do just enough to win this game, but don't expect us to obliterate them. We'll need to preserve as much energy as we can, and therefore I can see us taking the foot off the gas should we have a two goal lead around the hour mark.

I'm still thinking Sanchez won't be quite ready yet, probably just a few days away from being on the bench. I think it'll be Martial to come into the side, with Mata dropping to the bench and being joined by Lukaku. Sanchez would hopefully make the bench against Newcastle and then start against Reading, back on the bench for Spurs. Smalling potentially not being back until after Spurs is a disappointment, as I was hoping he could start against Reading as well. Jones is doing OK for now, but I wouldn't want to be going into the Tottenham game with him starting really.

Even though spurs walloped them, Bournemouth created some very good clear cut chances. On a different day they could have scored 3 or 4 themselves

Our defence will need to be spot on. Wilson, Fraser, Brooks are all very good players.

However with united gaining confidence I expect us to keep the momentum if not a clean sheet

I'd say 3-4 goals is a slight exaggeration, but you're right that they really weren't as bad as the scoreline suggested. I was at the game and they played some nice football at times, the problem was that they were often suicidal with their passing and sat off us far too much. Way too much space allowed for KWP to get the ball in, and then just allowing the likes of Son and Eriksen to pick out shots from outside the box. They're a team who can look classy on the ball with some nice one touch stuff, but didn't look up for battling at all on boxing day. Almost felt like they wrote off the game as unwinnable and decided to save their energy for easier fixtures.

We were also very clinical, pretty much any decent opportunity we created ended up in a goal, so again the scoreline was harsh. Still expect you to win very comfortably though, I really don't think they're up to par against the top sides.

The bench for this one is going to be interesting, with Lukaku and Sanchez back that's 2 spots taken, I think Mata will stay in the squad so that's another, Bailly and Dalot will get the defensive spots as Smalling, Rojo and Valencia apparently aren't quite ready, so that leaves one midfield spot for Fred, Fellaini or Pereira.

I think one of Mata, Sanchez and Lingard will miss out on the 18.

It'll be Lingard-Rashford-Martial with Sanchez and Lukaku coming as subs. If we were comfortably winning maybe Periera will get some game time.

I can't see the latter two not making the 18, especially Jesse, obviously with Sanchez it will depend on his fitness. Mata could I suppose but in order to include which 2 of the 3 CM's?

Got a feeling this will be the game we rest Matic, maybe for Fellaini. Fred didn't really secure a first team place with his performance even though he did ok. Dalot will probably get games sparingly to start with so Young will start again. Hopefully Martial will be back.

    De Gea
    Young - Lindelof - Jones - Shaw
    -Herrera - Fellaini - Pogba
    -Lingard - Rashford - Martial

Can possibly see Greenwood taking the place of Gomes on the bench and getting some mins. Very much doubt both will in the squad, be nice to see though.

Yes, Sanchez' fitness will play a big part. I don't expect him to start even if fit though. I think Martial and Rashford will occupy two of the three forward spots, the other spot will likely go to Lingard or Mata - Lingard might need some rest. With Lukaku back, I reckon he'd start on the bench alongside a GK, CB and a FB. That leaves three spots for midfield options and a forward. Assuming we go with the midfield we fielded against Cardiff, two of Pereira, Fred and Fellaini will likely fill two spots, with the other spot going to Sanchez(if ready) or Lingard/Mata if Sanchez is not ready.
I think the team will be this:
    De gea
    Young - Lindelof - Jones - Shaw
    Herrera - Matic - Pogba
    Mata/Lingard - Rashford - Martial
    Subs:
    Romero
    CB
    FB
    MF
    MF
    Mata/Lingard/Sanchez
    Lukaku
Obviously, Ole might decide to rotate the defence and midfield, but I think that is how the Attack and bench will look like provided Martial is fit.

DJ Buffonge in and around the first team as well. Any chance he can make the bench?
I doubt he will be involved but he is definitely an alternative to play on the right wing, so maybe. I love his style and I don't think there is a lot between him and Gomes. Either one has as big of a chance to make it here as the other one does, imo. Would love to see him get his debut after being mismanaged a bit in the U21's this season.

OGS has stated on more than one occasion that getting 3 points is top priority. I don't see him taking too many chances unless we're comfortably winning.

Well if you're right I've filled in your post where I hope Ole makes the calls. :)

Anyone know what is up with Bailly? Or probably Ole trying to keep the CB pairing consistent to try to get a clean sheet?
He has been on the bench in the last two games. Probably because he is third best among the available CBs and he is not very good on the air either. There is no point in rotating CBs too.

just his presence will inspire the players.
Pogba will have flashbacks of that Park-Rafael midfield and state that "he's not the manager" whereas Raiola will state that he wants his client out of Manchester. This will distrupt the dressing room, force Ole to bench Pogba, and he will inevitably get sacked from his caretaker position because he did not care for Pogba's emotions.

    Or something :p

Just joking you cnuts lighten up.

Don’t worry. Jones 3rd start means he’s due an injury anytime now. Bailly will be in to replace him if Smalling is still unfit.
