This is going to be a huge test for ETH and the team. What we saw at Newcastle was not pretty and reminded me of the Ole and RR days. Not so much in the way we played as in the attitude, especially that of the players who were actually there under Ole and RR.
Even with the likes of Casemiro and Eriksen out and Martial only on his way back, we have a strong enough team to dominate and beat Brentford and Everton at home, but if the team take this lightly, like the Fulham game, then we will struggle just to get a draw.

If Wout and McTominay start I’m seriously worried about EtH. Not sack him worried of course, I love Erik, but worried none the less. Complete shite both of them.

Sabitzer and Fred as a two with Bruno in the 10. Martial must start and if not Rashford can play through the middle with Sancho left. Anthony and AWB right side as Dalot is in terrible form. I do like the idea of Martinez being at 6 and he has played it before but I guess the boss doesn’t feel he is up to it in the premier league.

Must win, this one. I’m certainly not buying into the over confidence of many on here. We are capable of going on a run of wins but equally a run of losses, draws as shown by the majority of this squad last year. Mentality still a huge concern.

Quite frankly, I'm surprised we can put a cohesive 90min passing game together to beat teams these days. It'll be another struggle and most likely a draw!

No doubt Brentford will be like rabid dogs for this one, but we really should be beating them without too much fuss.

Spurs getting a draw makes Wednesday nights game a must win but if we manage to beat Brentford and Everton (which I doubt we will) we will be 6 points clear of them on the same games next time they play.

Brentford have lost once in the league since October, this game won't be easy and the form we're in I'm expecting points dropped

If we play with the necessary cajones we'll be ok. Alas, Wout is done, as is Sancho. Rashford needs to get laid or whatever he needs to start giving a feck again.
    It's a big 'if' though.

We need a win here. Too many sloppy performances have crept in recently - we look really unconvincing without Casemiro and Garnacho to call upon.

I hope he plays Mainoo or Iqbal in midfield. Why not play hungry young players.

Hopefully martial can get 30 mins and come through it unscathed. Him remaining fit for the rest of the season will be the difference between more success and a stuttering end to the season imho

Given our defensive record of late I'd be flooding the midfield and dominating possession as much as we can. Bruno off the right to cut down the amount of turnovers - I love Bruno but his play is inviting so much pressure of late especially with wout up top completely unable to make anything stick.

ETH won't do this though, he doesn't sacrifice attackers so I expect Fred-Sabitzer in the middle and Brentford to run all over them. We'll be relying on rashford again to make something happen. Hopefully he's on it

If he starts Weghurst again we deserve to lose and it will be 100% on ETH. He needs to get creative and earn his money. Pep playing Stones in midfield against Liverpool was widely applauded. We need to change as things are clearly not working

What are the chances come tomorrow night we’re watching a game where the opposition are looking faster, technically superior with precise, quick passing, charging into space and opening us up time after time, whilst we’re slow in our build up, inaccurate in our passing and miscontrolling the ball, looking lethargic and frustrated?

I’m ready for that, but it still doesn’t mean we won’t win. Hopefully we get some luck like we did against a good Fulham side.

Brentford will fancy a result against us after our recent showings, so I hope ETH doesn't play with a two-man midfield and instructs Bruno to play as a 8. Marcel as the 6 with Fred and Bruno playing supporting 8s should be able to get hold of the midfield and allow our attack to get the ball in threatening situations. Also, sub Rashy before Antony if the former decides to ghost in another performance. Antony at least helps out his fullback even when it's not working out for him offensively.

    DDG
    AWB Varane Martinez Shaw
    Bruno Sabitzer Fred
    Antony Martial Rashford

You can be creative if you have a squad of 23 equal standard players, not when you have a solid 14 and a chasm of second string/youth prospects.

If we can’t beat Brentford with or without Casemiro, we should rightly not be in the Champion’s League next season.

I hope MCT and Weghorst leave the club at the end of the season, especially the former who has no business playing in the premier league.

Brentford is a difficult team to play against. They look very motivated and like a real team. And with our form in the recent games, I think this can end in a draw.
Casemiro and Eriksen are both still out, and that is a big reason why we are suffering at the moment. I think that Rashford should be on the bench - he did not look fit at all against Newcastle, and I guess he is not over the injury. Weghorst has to be on the bench - he is just not good enough. I know that ETH sees something in him and he might play anyway, but I have to hope. I think that Weghorst stops the flow in out attack: He is slow, his technic is poor, he is not a great header, he reacts too slow and he is not dangerous enough. He offers too little.

Win this and beat Everton at home and all will be right with the world again, we’ll have Casemiro back and we can look forward to Sevilla with optimism. Simple, eh?

Wait, what? The game is the evening. Will you not be able to watch it becasue it was originally a 3 pm kick-off game?
Originally a 3pm game which means the blackout applied so it was never picked for TV coverage and for some stupid reason, Sky and BT can't get TV coverage on it now after it's been moved. Welcome to the PL in the UK, where logic doesn't apply.

I think Brentford are a good side and I admire how they seem to attack no matter the opposition.
As Roy said a few years ago the first thing you have to do is match then surpass the intensity of the opposition and then class should prove to be decisive....we just seem to have issues getting over the first hurdle.

Not every Utd game is on TV.

I remember the days when there was just ONE live game on a week. That’s one game live from all the games played in the country.

I think many fans nowadays would have very depressing lives if that was the case nowadays.

Surely he tweaks the midfield set-up. Sick of us being so open/easy to play through, without Casemiro...

    De Gea

    AWB Varane Shaw Malacia

    Martinez
    Sabitzer Fred

    Antony Bruno Rashford

Assuming Martial isn't quite ready to start... Can change from Bruno as a false 9, to Rashford through the middle.

I hope Martial can start and I expect the players to have the right attitude. McTominay and Bruno swap spots.

When the feck are we getting Casemiro back?

i can hardly understand reasons for which 3 PM games are not shown on TV. But this is just madness.

Weghurst's 'nusiance value' was finally blown out of the water at Newcastle for without Casemiro and/or Eriksen in behind and Garnacho out wide, then having a decoy 'to shunt about' up top as a distraction does not work. Newcastle figured it out and so will Brentford.

Would like to see Pellistri start instead, either up top, or as someone with an understanding of midfield issues, play as a 'deep-lying' CF, picking things up from midfield and arriving late in the box. Pellistri has shown his speed/agility and skill and of all the youngsters blooded this season he shows the best 'decision-making' thus far.

United will win this. Probably not pretty or convincing but they’ll win

If they don’t, they’ll be a Europa Team again next season

I don' want to experiment Martinez in midfield, just because he's good at CB doesn't means he will be better there.

We miss Casemiro and Eriksen, neither Mc Tominay nor Sabitzer can fill the gap.

Hope for a 'normal' XI from Ten Hag with better shape of the team.

Brendford are in form and difficult to beat, and will probably give us a hard time, but we have to win this game.

Please for the love of god don't play Wout.

    Huge, huge game.

    Hope to see:

    Dalot-------------------------------------Varane-------------------------------Martinez---------------------------------Shaw
    -----------------------------------------------------Mctom---------------------Fred--------------------------------------------
    Antony--------------------------------------------------------Bruno--------------------------------------Rashford
    -------------------------------------------------------------------Martial-------------------------------------------------------

The sooner we get Casemiro back and Eriksen the better.

Wouldn't be against Shaw at CB, Malacia at LB and Martinez replacing Mctominay...... Hard to say though as we haven't seen how it works in training.
