You joking? What game of ours has been boring?
I’d say your games have been entertaining for the wrong reasons - schadenfreude at some of your hapless displays. Your style of football is boring, slow and ponderous. Now if you’re interested in watching good football, it’s hard not to like City and Liverpool who both play at the highest standard and are attractive to watch. Even my team Arsenal recently are playing more stylishly than Utd.

Ronaldo will be rested. Coming in for last 30 mins. He’ll still score a hattrick.

    I wish.
i doubt it. The team don't create chances for him. Surviving off scraps. Graveyard shift we call it.

Cavani got the only decent chance of the game against Newcastle which he scored with, which Ronaldo would've scored the same chance had he been fortunate to have that sort of chance created for him by his team-mates.. Unfortunately for Ronaldo he never got a chance created for him like that during the whole match... He can't do anything when his team-mates don't pass to him or create chances for him. He relies on service. It's nothing to do with his age as Cavani is only a year younger and had more injuries. It's the supporting cast not making the right decisions or passes.. a few times in the first half against Newcastle Ronaldo was in good positions for a chance against the goal-keeper but the pass from his team-mates (Fred, Greenwood, Rashford etc) was too underhit or overhit in terms of power. He's getting in the positions which is most important. When the Newcastle goal-keeper messed up in the 2nd half when it was 1-1 and Sancho didn't pass to him for a tap in.. that was unforgivable he was all alone 6 yards out.. that was winning the match right there..

Rangnick will hopefully fix things with video analysts etc to show certain players like Rashford, Fred, Greenwood and Sancho to improve sloppy passing and to make better smarter decisions in the final third. Maybe that's due to not playing for 16 days lacking that match sharpness and rhythm.. they might get a free pass and benefit of the doubt against Newcastle due to not playing for 16 days and having Covid but no excuses against Burnley.

Will Ralf stick with the 4-2-2-2? I think he will

    De Gea

    Dalot
    Varane
    Maguire
    Shaw

    Matic
    Fred

    Sancho
    Van de Beek

    Cavani
    Ronaldo
This. I think more midfielder orientated 10s will give better balance to the 4222

I go the other way, we aren’t slow at all. If anything we play the ball forward too quickly. Everything is at pace and it hurts us but makes for fantastic games.

Only three pages yet but must be the first ever match day thread that doesn't have a United poster claiming it will be a easy win, we'll smash them, no excuse not to win this match etc..

    Realism overtakes optimism.

Think it's fair to say this is a must win. If we don't top 4 is all but over.

However I don't think we will get top 4 now anyway. The team is all over the place. It's going to take another 6 weeks minimum to get up to speed with new way of playing.

Thursday nights again? Oh the joys.

I'd drop Ronaldo for Cavani, and go back to a 4-2-3-1.

In the last couple of seasons, Bruno has been the difference between finishing 6th or finishing top 3. We need to get back to getting the most out of him. Maybe in time, he'll adapt to the 4-2-2-2. But I think we're seeing that it was too big a change too quickly for this squad.

    Get IN!

We're playing at home against a team that averages 0.73pts. per game - 0.5pts. per away game, and who've only won one in fifteen league games.

Don't see this ending in a debilitatingly awful draw at all.

Some of you are really a diabolical lot here. If you want to win without struggle all the time, go load up Football manager or Fifa and use those insane game engine breaking tactics to swipe everyone 5-0 - I hope that's good for your mental health. Currently I am rather worried about some of you.
We are diabolical. We have supped with the dark one, supped from the Hyper Bowl. Your concern for our mental health is welcome, and we know how genuine you are. But spare a thought for the machines, too.

    • Telles is a nothing player. Start bedding in Shaw.
    • Fred and Dalot are irreplaceable because of how shit their competition is.
    • Matic must start when fit, even if its just for 60mins (when his legs give out)
    • Varane, Ronnie and Bruno have some credit in the bank.
    XI picks itself.

    Ronaldo
    Bruno VDB Cavani
    Fred Matic
    Shaw Bailly Varane Dalot
    De Gea

I don't care in what position Cavani plays.

What has Dalot done in the past few games to warrant being less shit than AWB?

    Put in one useful cross?

Imagine playing 15 games or however many with Ronaldo and not being able to put in one good cross (not even speaking about an assist here). That's how useless AWB is with the ball at his feet.

Don't get me wrong. Dalot is shite. I'd prioritize a RB as well as a DM in January. Wouldn't mind recalling the Swansea kid and getting rid of both our RBs.

I've not seen a single Dalot cross that's any better than what we saw from AWB this season.

But I have also not seen so many wasted attacks from AWB as I've seen from Dalot.

Cavani has to start the game, looks more dangerous than Ronaldo around the box and seems to get into the better positions. Varane needs another few training sessions and games under his belt to get match fit, well they all do after a 16 day hiatus.

Which AWB cross this season was as good as Dalot's from yesterday?

I don't know what to tell you on the 2nd bit. AWB has botched most of his basic passes this season.

Don't get me wrong I don't rate Dalot. He's bang average (still better than AWB) going forward and a defensive calamity. Might as well toss a coin for Burnley and get rid of both in January.

Is another of our easy fixtures? Still can’t believe our last performance but no doubt I’ll be buzzing for this on Thursday.

I wanna see Donny, Jadon and Edi. Don’t care who he drops to get them in. I’d quite like to see Victor if he is fit and his baby is well. Shaw instead of Telles. I’d love to see a 433 too. This 4222 is shite.

Wolves and Burnley. Win those 2 and we will be in a decent position for top 4 at the halfway point, following a shambolic first half to the season. We need to focus on 6 points in our next 2 at any cost.

We need to start winning the midfield and that won’t happen with McFred as we see every single game

    Anybody but McFred for me.

Hes more than capable of what Dalot did yesterday. Hes actually capable of better.

Its worth noting Dalot operates in a systwm making him look much better than if he operated in Oles system. The full back remit to get forward and put crosses in is more prevent under Rangnick and we haven't seen AWB in this.

Dalot though, feck me, his forward passing is rash, crossing always overhit, first touch often laughable.

You're massively overrating AWB if you think he's better at any of those things.
Are you forgetting AWB operated as a wingback plenty? (and still looked shite)

On the ball AWB is just shocking. If Dalot could defend like him one on one he'd be twice the player. I'm pretty sure AWB could play the rest of the season and still not finish it with one single useful cross for Ronnie.

Would hope to see Rashford and Bruno benched. Cavani should be nailed on assuming he’s fit.

We need width. The best chances we conjured up yesterday was from getting the ball out wide, more notably to Sancho or Dalot in the second half.

If RR wants to persist with 4222, then the full backs need to push really high, meaning the first pass for our centre backs or centre midfielders will be the diagonal to the full backs.

    If it's a 4222

    De Gea
    Dalot Varane Maguire Shaw
    Fred Matic
    Sancho Lingard
    Cavani Elanga

Or RR could start with how we finished against Newcastle and start with a 4132. We have really struggled to create chances, and against Norwich and Newcastle, we looked like we could concede against most attacks. Therefore, we may as well just try to outscore teams and attack.

    4132

    De Gea
    Dalot Varane Maguire Shaw
    Matic
    Sancho Van de Beek Lingard
    Cavani Elanga

My least favorite non-rival EPL team. I wish Dyche and his ankle kicking tactics would get relegated and stay down forever.

That said, I don't see us playing well vs them. It will be slog and Dyche will spitting his spittle all over the sideline.

I feel in this 4222 one of McFred should be in the middle 2 and not at the base. The attackers are all lightweight and can’t stamp any authority on the matches.

Formations are not everything but so far the balance has been way off.

They’ve drawn 4 of last 5. Not expecting much from us either.

I can see it now, 100 crosses against a team of burnley giants. Hammering against a solid brick wall of 10 men behind the ball.

    A dredge 0-0.
