Burton Albion Football Club (nicknamed Brewers, stemming from the town's Brewing heritage dating back hundreds of years) is a professional football club based in the town of Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire. The team play in the Championship, the second tier of English football. Burton Albion were formed in 1950, and joined the Birmingham & District League. They finished the 1953–54 season as runners-up, and in 1958–59 joined the Southern League North Western zone. In October 1998, Nigel Clough was appointed as player-manager and he led the club to two successive runners-up spots, in 1999–2000 and 2000–01. Burton were again moved to the Northern Premier League Premier Division in 2001–02, which they won by a margin of 15 points, scoring 106 goals in the process. The club were promoted to the Football Conference for the first time. In their non-League days the Brewers' local rivals were Gresley Rovers, Nuneaton Borough, Stafford Rangers and Tamworth. However, since the club's rise to the Football League these rivalries have become less intense, replaced by local rivalries with Port Vale, Crewe Alexandra, Notts County, Chesterfield and Walsall. The club's home ground is the Pirelli Stadium, having moved from Eton Park in 2005.

Pretty excited to watch this one, a bloke I used to play football with in the school team signed for Burton this summer and is a big united fan. Will be surreal watching him line up at Old Trafford

Please rest micky and lukaku, the former looks like he really needs it based on today's performance..

Looking forward to this game. Love those early games in domestic cups when you rest your main team and watch the match without much tension.

    Romero
    Darmian - Smalling - Lindelof - Shaw
    Carrick - Herrera
    Lingard - Mata - Martial
    Rashford

This would've been the game for Andreas Pereira. I know he played the other night but if he's fresh enough I wouldn't mind seeing Angel Gomes get a place on the bench.

I'm torn on this. I'd like Martial to get a start up top, but I think he should be starting ahead of Rashford in the league for the time being, so I wouldn't mind him being rested.

Apart from him, I hope Matic and Lukaku are rested.

Lukaku, Mata, Fellaini and Mkhitaryan on the bench. Rashford, Lingard and Martial to start up front. Carrick and Herrera in midfield. Like to see Tuanzebe getting a game as well.

Jose likes his cups, I don't think he'll go quite as weak as some are suggesting.

Shaw will hopefully get 25 minutes in the second half.

Then why did we give him a contract. He would have been better going or retiring and us keeping Pereira.
Carrick is sort of a "dressing room lieutenant" at this stage. I'd prefer see how McTominay does against Championship level opposition.

, he can still do a job against poor opposition.
I've always liked Carrick, but I've also always liked playing youngsters in this.

Would love to see Shaw make a return and play a blinder. Would be great to have him back and offer some pace on the overlap down the left on a consistent basis.

Martial or Rashford as a centre forward would be good to see as well.

Lukaku looked a bit gassed today so a rest for him, Rashford as well after the mare today. Martial to play CF.

Something like this would probably get the job done:

    De Gea
    Darmian Smalling Lindelof Blind
    Herrera McTominay Carrick
    Young Martial Lingard.

I'd switch it up a bit, here:

    ------------------Romero----------------------
    ---Tuanzebe----Smalling------Lindelof------
    Darmian---------------------------------Shaw
    --------------Carrick------Herrera------------
    Lingard-----------Rashford-------------Martial

SUBS - McTominay (Carrick), Mata (Martial), Mitchell (Shaw)

    Man United 5 - 0 Burton Albion
Rashford x 2; Lingard; Martial; Mata

Honestly I'd just Play the youth and rest all the first 11. Give them a week off.

The players who have played most minutes will be rested. I think matic, valencia, mata, mkhi, lukaku, Jones, bailly, de gea will be rested at the very least.
I hope shaw plays, maybe 30-35 mins as a sub, but its a good game to get him going. Hope to see this line up but i dont think it will be this-

    --------------Romero-------------
    Darmian---smalling---Lindelof-blind
    ---------Carrick----Mctominay-----------
    Martial------herrera--------Lingard
    -------------Rashford----------------

With Tuanzebe, shaw and angel gomez coming on.

Take Martial off after 60 minutes and bring on McTominay.

I have a feeling Mourinho would use this game to try the back 3 system

I imagine Romero, Darmian, Lindelof, Smalling, Shaw, Carrick, Herrera, Lingard and Martial are all nailed-on to start this. Tuanzebe too perhaps?

How do you do a 3-5-2 with those players? Lingard in central midfield?

Players definitely having a rest: Matić, Mkhitaryan, Lukaku. All of them had 9 games in 5 weeks, it's time to stop and smell the roses.

Very much doubt Shaw or McTominay will have a chance to start, unfortunately.
