You carn't be serious. People have a very short memory on this forum.
 I'm not his biggest fan but who else? James is to rough imo and needs to be eased in and Mata doesn't have the pace or stamina for the winger position. Lings starts by default for me, not because i think his great.

I think he will go with:

    DDG
    AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    McTominay Pogba
    Lingard Mata Rashford
    Martial

What I would personally go with:
    DDG
    AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    McTominay Pogba
    Greenwood Gomes Rashford
    Martial

I'm going to stick my head on the line and say 3-2 to United. Think it will be open football and we will just shade it.

I'm pretty confident Greenwood starts the rest of the team speaks for itself, hope gomes at least makes the bench!

Hopefully Pereira doesn't start just seems to be a fouling machine doesn't bring much more to the team other then charging around like a bull kicking peoples ankles.

Does anyone know how Chelsea might line up for this one? Maybe someone among the Chelsea fans on the Caf who have watched them in the preseason can shed some light?
Possibly. Maybe Zouma could start. Kennedy and Mount have has a few games in pre season.

    Abraham

    Pulisic Barkley Pedro

    Kovacic Jorginho

    Emerson Luiz Christensen Azpi

The scenes if we lose on Sunday.

We must start with a win because Wolves love to play and beat us.

Cheers. I see similar problems to ours. A very lightweight midfield and a question mark regarding where the goals are going to come from. It should be interesting, a huge boost for whoever manages to get all three points from this one.

Our defence is a lot better, I think if we continue to press them we'll force them into mistakes. Just need to make sure we put our chances away when we get them

On paper, it is better. But i expect us to go into this one all guns blazing and press the hell out of them in the first 15-20 minutes. We can force mistakes but Pulisic-Barkley-Pedro can be devastating if they find spaces to exploit on the counter. In this case, our defence's efficiency will depend a lot on the cover they will get by the two midfielders. It's shaping up to be a very interesting game of football.

A lot of people going to be disappointed when they see Matic on the teamsheet.

Think we'll win by the odd goal.

Im going with this as I don't want Matic or Mata in the team.

    DDG
    AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    McTominay Dalot/Tuanzebe
    Pogba
    Lingard Greenwood Rashford

At least there will be speed in this set up.
I know Dalot and Tuanzebe are not midfielders but they can learn and one of them at least will surely be better than Matic.

David Luiz apparently gone on strike now to force a move. This should further disrupt their plans for this game.

Definitely this to be the 11 to start the game and most of the early parts of the season, Greenwood to edge James by the latter stages of the season:
    De Gea
    Wan Bissaka Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    McTominay Pogba
    James Lingard Rashford
    Martial
    Greenwood, Matic, Mata the subs?

I believe Lingard will start. He had a very, very long season last year with the World Cup before it, and now will be fresh and recharged. He has work-rate, and I don't see sending someone as totally unproven as James into a match of this size as anything other than irresponsible. Mata doesn't cover enough ground, so Lingard it will be.

Mata and Lingard surely? One on right, one as an attacking midfielder.

If Mata plays for United, ever, it needs to be as a number 10, and number 10 only, so if he's playing, yes that would work. I have never understood the decision to play such a talented player completely out of position for 5 1/2 years.

The time for this match couldn't get any more perfect. No work, first day of Eid el Adha, please United, you have to win.
    Oh you celebrate Eid too?

The last time I think United played on the 1st day of Eid was vs City back in 2009 when we won 4-3.

Hopefully we get a repeat of that

Who's the two Chelsea CBs going to be with Luiz leaving, Christensen and Zouma? That is area Man. United can exploit.

There was one after that too. Win vs Everton, DDG with a rare pen save and some ridiculous saves in the final minutes.

Isn't Alexis out, @TheReligion ? Either way he hasn't had a preseason with us so, even if available, I highly doubt he'd start.

I had very little hope for this until I saw how shit Chelsea looked too. We should win.
    What you mean 'too'.

We've looked good if you watch pre season games rather than crying over the transfer carnage.

He played the behind closed doors game the other night I think. Against Blackburn. I guessed he was fit again. Maybe lacking match fitness.

He'll be on the bench at least?

Really important we get a good result here. We've got a very tough fixture after this which I'd be surprised to see us win.

Given how we've let our attack and midfield weaken over this window, and only addressed the defence things could start to turn amongst the fans.

    Ah, fair enough!

I have a feeling he still won't be on the bench. We'll probably start with Martial, Rashford and one of Lingard/Mata, leaving space on the bench for James, Greenwood (who didn't play against Rotherham like Chong and Gomes so is likely to be involved) and the other from Mata/Lingard as our attacking subs.

I can see Greenwood getting game time but do expect Sanchez on the bench.

In fairness it's a mystery how we line up after the back 5 to me. Think Mctominay and Fred as a partnership with Pogba further forward would be best but have a feeling we'll see Matic.

No idea if a Rashford Martial front two will happen, if Lingard will get on or we will see anything of Dan James.
