Jose said he won't make many changes, which means Lukaku might start. Good chance to score and bring some confidence back.

I like Lukaku's work off the ball and he does a lot for the team, but hypothetically, how many games does he have to draw a blank before he is dropped? Can't see a fully fit Zlatan happy on the bench for long.

Five at the back vs CSKA at home? :houllier:
What's the problem ?! Having 5 in the back doesn't mean we won't be able to attack. That's a very simplistic view of football and doesn't happen on the pitch.

This side can easily win 2-0 at least.

Also, I prefer to call it three at the back! :D

    At Lowry:

    Romero, Joel Pereira, O'Hara
    Darmian, Shaw, Young, Valencia
    Lindelof, Smalling, Tuanzebe
    Herrera, Pogba, McTominay
    Mata, Lingard
    Lukaku, Rashford, Martial

Live locally and sometimes turn up later, so might still be in match day 18: Blind, Mkhitaryan (at least one will be due to the maths, as 18 above includes 3 keepers)

Missing: De Gea (announced), Rojo (was in training video), Zlatan (announced but in training pics), Jones (announced but in training pics), Matic (announced), Fellaini (still out), Carrick (still out), Bailly (still out)

Valencia and Young on the squad, I really don't get it. Is Blind injured and no one knows? Or, like Mkhitaryan, he's turned into the sacrificial lamb before transfer season?

Are we starting Martial or Lingard? It's not so much the fatigue, City's game is in 5 days. But those guys forced to run like crazy against Arsenal must be closer to muscular injuries if they start tonight.

    Then I’d go with

    Romero
    Darmian, Lindelof, Tuanzebe, Shaw
    McTominay, Pogba
    Mhkitariyan, Mata, Martial
    Rashford

Don’t see any point risking players who will start in City match!

You don't see Martial starting against City?

The question is what does Rom need more: a rest or a goal?

If Mkhi doesn't play this one the he must be off surely!
I think there could be something to it. He had problems with Mou earlier and every time he messed something on a pitch Lukaku is waving his arms, rolling eyes and stuff like that. Maybe he is also not on the best terms with some star players in the squad? And confidence player that he is when he gets low he can stay low for a while. Or leave.

Rom has played a part for goals in the last 3 games. The goals will come, it's more calming for me knowing he contributes even when not scoring. We all know he can score.

I've gone for 3-0 on the predictor. Definitely an opportunity to give some fringe players a game: I'd like to see Shaw start; let's see what he can do, as he's in the last chance saloon at United. Get Mata and Miki in there, allowing them an opportunity to find some form. I'd go Smalling/Rojo at centre back; don't risk Bailly, even if he's ready.

    -------------Romero-----

    Darmian---Smalling---Rojo----Shaw

    Miki-----Herrera---Pogba----McTominay

    -----------Mata--------

    ----------Zlatan------

Rojo needs a rest. Zlatan is out. Herrera should be a last 20' sub since he'll be required Sunday.
I think Valencia will start on the right and Darmian on the left. Shaw as a sub if we're cruising.
Jose still wants to win this match. I expect Rom and Rashford will start.

Cheers for the info. I would start Rashford up front then for Zlatan. Could put Blind in for Rojo, but mustn't weaken the side too much. If Rojo will be needed Sunday, then a rest would be a good move. My back three for the derby if all available would be Bailly, Jones, Lindelof, but it might be a stretch, given injuries.

Just remember guys we still need a draw to qualify and with Jose saying its only obe game at a time I expect a very string starting 11.

    Romero

    Valenica
    Smalling
    Lindelof
    Shaw/Blind

    Mata
    Pogba
    Herrera
    Rashford

    Lingard
    Lukaku

Its better to get some goals and rest players with 20-30mins to go than start with a weak or rusty starting 11 and need to score with 10-20 mins to go.

Qualify first then worry about the derby!

If Jose wants to move Miki in January, there is no point to include him in the team.

We need to avoid losing with 4 goals to secure 1st spot and avoid losing with 7 to qualify

Pointless permutations. Baseless fears. United will qualify easily, topping the table.

There's a slight threat to top spot, but seeing as we only need a point are at home, I would say it's fairly diminished. No chance that we don't qualify whatsoever though.

In the pretty unlikely scenario, I wouldn't actually be upset with a 2nd place finish. There are some absolute juggernauts sitting 2nd in their respective groups.

Rojo needs a rest? This is what, his third or fourth game coming back.

Nah, we are going to finish top and are likely nailed on to get Real Madrid. Warm balls, conspiracy and all that.
