    DeGea (if fit)

    Wan Bissaka Varane Lindelof Telles

    Fred McTominay

    Bruno

    Greenwood Ronaldo Sancho

It’s getting increasingly harder to get Pogba into teams, great player but I think maybe we won’t renew…

It's either Ronaldo or Cavani. If they ever both play together, it should be if we're starting in a 4-4-2 diamond, with 4 midfielders behind them or if we're losing in the last minutes. I'd start Cavani on this, wasn't happy with Ronaldo at all against Villareal, the amount of effort he gave was so little.

    It's at home :nervous:

Result could be anything, but in no way do I expect us to put in a strong performance, where we would clearly deserve to win.

    DDG
    AWB - Varane - Lindelof - Shaw
    VDB/Fred - Matic
    Greenwood - Bruno - Sancho
    Ronaldo

Its not lack of effort it’s just conserving his energy given his age.

Conserving energy is causing us problems. A lot of times at first half, their keeper was holding the ball at his feet for like 10 seconds or more and Ronaldo wasn't even trying to run at him. I know he's old now and can't run like mad and I know he's one the best goalscorers of all time but he can't be a passenger on the field for 90% of the time.

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
Aston Villa and QPR both beat us whilst we beat Norwich at home which most teams will do this season.
No threat at all from Rondon and we're missing our top 4 scorers from last season.

We've a small squad and its even smaller and we're down to the bare bones when we get a couple of injuries.
Allan, Doucoure, Gray and Townsend are our shining lights in midfield, defence can let us down sometimes. As soon as we make a mistake in defence our head goes as what happened v Villa.

I expect we'll play on the counter and look to use Gray's pace and hope for the best.
I think we'll score but cant see us getting a result.
    Thanks for that.

It does sound like we should get the win here  We've been bad but you need the goalscorers to put us away, as Villarreal found out last night. If you had Richarlison and DCL at least then I think you could have given us issues with our defence and injuries there.

I can't get to the game as I'm at a wedding exactly as the game kicks off, but at least I don't need to worry too much.

With how we’re playing currently it kind of feels like every game is a bad match-up.
Under Ole we've often done better when teams come to take the game to us because counter attacking suits our players. Our general issue is breaking down compact teams. I'm a more confident about us taking on Atalanta than Villarreal for example.

Wouldn’t switching ronaldo to be the impact sub to give cavani his minutes make more sense. Last 20 for ronaldo if needed….
No it wouldnt. You want Cavani's energy and movement off the bench. Ronaldo is still world class, he should start.

This would be a good game to rebalance the momentum ahead of our tough schedule. Everton aren't great at all right now so should be able to put together a convincing win.

Obviously want to get the win but more importantly I want to see us actually put in a solid, dominant team performance as well because it’s really been lacking so far this season.

Rafa is a very conservative manager and I think we're fine these days against teams that are passive in midfield. They might try and stick 10 men in the box but we'll find a way through. Occasionally Benitez can still find a bit of the old tactical nous that he showed at Liverpool, so he might come up with a formation or approach that causes us struggles. Fundamentally though I don't think so, I think we'll walk this one. I'd much rather than a 1-0 than 3-2 though, our defence needs to settle down.

Some players are deserving of a start.

Lingard the first on that list.

Also, some players are badly in need of matches.
Cavani, VDB and Sancho first on that list.

Fit them all in however you can.

    DDG
AWB Lindelof Varane Shaw (or Telles if Luke isn't ready)
    Fred VDB
    Bruno
    Lingard Cavani Sancho.

If we're not winning comfortably by the 65' , enter Ronaldo, Greenwood, Pogba.

Thing is I'm not worried about attack, we should be able to score but it seems we concede at least one goal every game and it may be even bigger struggle if Telles is to start as he's not great in defence.

I would definitely rotate a bit for this game.

    -----------------------------------------De Gea------------------------------------------
    Wan Bissaka---------Lindelof--------Varane-------------------------Telles
    ------------------------Mc Tominay--------Fred-------------------------------------
    Lingard------------------------------Bruno----------------------------------Sancho
    -----------------------------------------Cavani---------------------------------------------

With Ronaldo, Pogba and Greenwood coming in.

I’m more worried about Cavani than anyone else. Our defence gets rattled by players who hound them like he does. I can see us scoring but after a last minute winner midweek and needing a result after last weeks dismal defeat to Villa, you’ll be well up for this.

    Benitez will use kindergarten tactics to outfox Utd coaching staff and Ole will once again freeze with indecision;

Inside Oles head: " rafa isnt using 352 or 442 or 433, what is he doing? The diablo tactic always worked when I played Football Manager"...

"I know I will bring Matic on at 80min and a forward around 85mins then complain about VAR as to why we lost the game."

There is no way Ronaldo will be bench sitting for this or any match. Ole wouldn’t dare. He will start against Everton. The rest you can throw up in the air and see who lands first because if we play like we did in the first half last night, we will get battered. Does anyone know when Rashford is available? Then Ole will have to find a space for him somewhere.

Rashford not back until after the international break. We won't go with the 4-1-5 again this weekend so you would expect McFred to play although Scott has started the last couple of games so maybe Fred with Matic or Donny if he actually does exist and is not a figment of our imaginations. Presumbaly that puts Pogba on the left which I am not a fan of, yes he got a few assists there to start the season but it fecks with our shape and particularly when playing with Bruno, Greenwood and Ronaldo we get horribly narrow in attack and are easy to defend.

They’ll play more on the counter having watched our woeful midfield play over the last 3 matches. Gray and Townsend will have to be watched
