I genuinely don’t understand this logic. We haven’t won a trophy in years and the FA Cup is a great opportunity for Ten Hag to make his mark on the club with some silverware. He isn’t going to rest players against Premier League opposition.
Is it that great a mark though? Van Gaal was fired a day after winning it. Wenger's last years are seen as disappointing despite winning it what, three times?

I do agree that he won't rest players though. I'd just prefer it if he did, the fixture congestion will be bad enough as it is.

You can never please everyone and no doubt when we hear about tonight’s lineup, some will not be happy.

We should rotate and even more heavily so vs Charlton. That being said, I'll not be surprised if most of the first 11 starts this.

Charlton game I fully agree, you could rotate the whole first XI for that game. Tonight’s game, I wouldn’t mind 2 or max 3 changes but not wholesome. That lot will have a point to prove tonight after the Brighton embarrassment a few days ago. Plus Lampard always loves to get one over on us. Can’t rule them out and become complacent or it will cost us dearly and I’m sure that’s what ETH will be telling the players tonight.

Especially when our next match is up against a League One side next week. If we're determined to rest some players, we can do it there.

    Some people deserved Pochettino.

Absolutely loving the frequency of games when the team is playing well.

I hope they can tune themselves up with a mountain of goals against Everton and Charlton ahead of games against the top two.

Yeah that's a bizarre comment considering United haven't won a thing since Mourinho was the manager.

Top 4 and either the league cup or the FA cup would be a very successful first season for Ten Hag, especially as we can see a proper identity in the team for the first time in a decade

If Everton do win tonight, I hope United take a stronger XI to Charlton than they're probably currently planning to

Given that we're pretty much assured a place in the LC semi final, bar a huge upset, I wouldn't be opposed to rotating heavily this evening.

Antony trained so expect him back in now:

    De Gea
    Dalot Varane Martinez Shaw
    Casemiro Fred
    Antony Bruno Rashford
    Martial

Use Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Malacia, McTominay, Eriksen, Fred, Elanga, Garnacho against Charlton. Probably still need to start Martial or Rashford though.

Only reason I'd rest Eriksen here and play him against Charlton is because they'll definitely park the bus and we'll need a midfield player who can create. Bruno is suspended and Donny is injured, but we should use this opportunity to rest him for one game if possible.

Hope he does rest some players - already we are seeing other clubs starting to get injuries. Chelsea have so many out right now it would be a catastrophe if we started mounting them up too!

In an ideal world, Rashford, Bruno, Eriksen, Casemiro and Varane wouldn't even be on the bench for the two cup games, with City and Arsenal coming up. I know that won't happen but I wish we fully rotated for these. I'm always scared of the domestic cups potentially derailing our season.
I really despair at this mentality. It just doesn't make any sense. Just imagine Chelsea resting Sterling and Pulisic in their last game only to see them hobbling off against City within 20 minutes anyway.

I'm so glad we have ten Hag. He has to be the best that's happened to United since Fergie left and he has the right approach. I love how he faces every game as if it's his last and puts the best team out to win the game. Fine, if he wants to rest players he can do so after 60 minutes but for feck's sake, let's get the game wrapped up first.

I'm so happy he doesn't have that backward mentality. The likes of Poch would have been all over that and fielding an U18 team. We do have to rotate but this dumb wholesale change approach is just shite.

Feck, didn't realise this game was today! My team would be :

    De Gea
    Dalot Varane Martinez Malacia
    Casemiro Bruno Fred
    Antony Martial Rashford

Give some minutes to Dalot and Martinez so they can get their match fitness up. Shaw needs to be rested as he has played in every game since the re-start. Same with Eriksen and Casemiro but can't drop both of our best midfielders in the same game when the options are McT and Fred so one of them drops out and I went with Eriksen.

Are Antony and Martial both fit to play again? I seem to remember Martial went straight down the tunnel when he was substituted last game. If both are out, I think we will see Elanga and Garnacho out on the wings with Rashford as the striker. It's not like we have much else in the way of options anyways.

With DVB out as well, we really really need to get some cover for both Bruno and Martial. Can understand why ETH is desperate to have Sancho back.

We can rotate everyone and still have a strong team out, but no Sancho and back up striker is already a problem. I expect a few of the kids to be on the bench for Charlton.

    De Gea
    Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Malacia
    Casemiro, Fred
    Antony, Bruno, Rashford
    Martial

    Against Charlton

    De Gea
    AWB, Lindelof, Maguire, Malacia
    Fred, McTominay
    Elanga, Eriksen (45 mins), Garnacho
    Rashford (60 mins)

Anyone else really starting to look forward to games again now? It definitely feels like something is building, rather just going through the same of cycle of semi decent performances at times, without looking like we’re ever going to win anything major.

Full strength tonight. Rotate for Charlton.
Mostly agree here. There will be a little tweaking due to upcoming suspensions, but the Bournemouth rotation and that upcoming Charlton game, this should pretty much be a full-strength squad. Really don't want players getting rusty.

Since ETH took over I've been excited about games again.

Last year there was plenty of times Id have the game on but I be scrolling on my phone not paying attention.

Absolutely. Really looking forward to watching tonight’s game. Mainly down to the impact ETH has made in a short space of time.

I hope we don't ride out the game, but rather crush them early. Don’t want to be sucker-punched here.

    Yes, I remember Paul.

100%. ETH has made watching us enjoyable as we are competitive and entertaining. There is a danger it results in too high expectations (i.e.talk of us winning the league). A top 4 finish, good signing, some entertainment and reversing the infighting was all we could wish for before season started.
