We have no build up plan. FBs and Wingers interchanging passes? Nope. Midfielders resisting press to move the ball up? Nope. CBs driving forward? Nope. Striker dropping deep to make the extra man? Nope. Nothing. Again.

If we are to employ this insane 3-6-1 formation with a plan to win the ball high up the pitch, at least play Mount who is actually good at pressing instead of McT. At this point we have no clue what to do to with or without the ball. It's driving me mad seeing the same thing for weeks. It's not going to magically work with the same players. It's so tiring.

I cannot understand why there is no automation in our play. City, Liverpool, Arsenal, even Spurs, have third-man runs, wing rotations, players running inverted in-between full-backs for pull-backs. None of that is present with us. We don't even attempt passes in between lines; it's just horizontal rotation. Left to right, right to left, back to CB, reset. Even when we do get to wide areas we're isolated, and even when we're not isolated no one ever crosses. How is Hojlund expected to score when no one but Dalot will put a ball in? Why is Rashford reticent to just curl a ball in? Why does it always have to be a back pass or a dribble inside looking for a blatant shot?

There's no, "If this, then that", in our play. No phase dependent moves.

I don't think there is a manager out there who could get this lot playing decent football, who would you put in the hot seat?
Nobody can answer it. In truth, nothing changes until glazers feck off. Genuine fans just need to accept that.

This obsession with width at all times is leaving us stretched, with players too far apart all over the pitch, apart from at the back.
Players have nobody within comfortable range to pass to and we’re left with risky long passes, the hoof ball, or playing safe across the back.
How are you going to get flowing and penetrating moves, like that?
Even when we can play through the lines, to get something going, the receiving player is just whacking it straight back through the same lines to the CB’s.

We’re totally sleep walking through this season, my ability to understand and forgive is running out at an alarming rate. This football is far from good enough. It’s pathetic stuff.

We have no midfield when we're on the ball. Copenhagen are closing off space well, and players like Amrabat and McTominay are not able to take the ball in confined spaces on the half turn.

Need to see Eriksen and/or Mount come on, maybe even Martial too, but not for Hojlund but to play up top with him and drop into those pockets in behind and between the CB and the FB to create some space.

We've no midfield, yet Hojlund is still isolated and we've no options out wide..where are they?

Disagree. This midfield shape is what we want - Amrabat can play the base - but the two 8s (or 10 in Bruno’s case) need to play their roles. McT is limited but kind of trying, he’s really not amazing in possession. Bruno appears to be playing his own game where he decides to play everywhere.
The 2 8's are absurdly advanced, McT basically goes alongside Hojlund with Bruno fairly close as well, there are so few early forward passing options, easy to cover.

Have seen it with different players even in Ten Hags first pre season, the DM totally isolated.

Not that anyone was good but Antony had a few positive runs. Dalot put in a good cross. That's about it for any positives

This is what frustrates me. A telling off isn't going to suddenly make them create more chances. Our football is so slow and predictable.
We were talking about Spurs yesterday. Yes they keep the ball but they can pass the ball to each other. They also know when to up the pace and I said they are terriers when they lose the ball. They want to win it back straight away before any damage is caused. We lose the ball and just let the other team run at us.

Not watching this as I'm working out of the office today. Reckon its not hunky dory in here seeing the halftime score. Glad I didn't put myself through it. Even when we win* it's such a chore.

*In saying that I hope we actually do win. I don't want to see us in that terrible Europa league. And I'd much rather we qualify and get beat by the first semi-decent team we face next round.

Hannibal gave us some energy and grit in the middle if nothing else, shame he didn't get a chance to build on his minutes.

This is some of the worst football I've seen since post fergie. If he doesn't make changes at half time then theres no hope.
Amount of time I have seen this being written about United post Sir Alex's retirement makes a depressing reading .

We just keep sinking to new lows every time We take field .

He seems to have aborted the Mount experiment 10 games into the season - doesn’t look good. Worse than that, how did our coaching team come up with a system that further exacerbates our issues. Bruno playing deep, not being involved. McT playing in a strange role where he needs to playmake. Arambat covering a lot of ground by himself. Inverted wingers with very few overlaps from full backs. This is a real bad look for EtH.
Most embarrassing thing is having to listen to Utd fans acting like Mount has been good for us and wasn't a bad signing. I cringe when I hear the likes of McKola or other Utd fans defending him when other fans say he's not been good. Arsenal levels of delusion

Rangnick was suppose to be a pressing monster… you can’t make lazy players press. Impossible. That’s like trying to make a dog talk. I think Rashford is a main reason behind a lot of things. He’s the one player that’s played under all the managers since LVG.
So what is the point of Ten Hag. Right now we would be better with an Ole who could get the players at least be happy. ..and we might still have Cristiano. Ten Hag was supposed to be the great coach and Ole the dunce. Right now I don't see it. His talks lack any clarity or vision. God knows what the players think of him. I rarely miss manager press conferences but his are so mind-numbing I just couldn't care.
