I think he'll start Rashford again after he made himself available yesterday, it'll be Pogba, Herrera, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Rashford, Zlatan.

Absolutely crucial game now. I wasn't impressed with them in Russia, and that was on 'their turf' where they get most of their wins. On a quality pitch at OT, I expect us to comfortably beat them. Part of my thinks we're gonna fire back hard after last night and smash 3-4 past them but then I think it's United in 2016/17 and there's no chance of that. Plus some tired legs.

    ---------------DDG--------------
    Valencia----Bailly----Smalling----Blind
    --------------Carrick--------------
    ------Herrera---------Pogba------
    Mkhitaryan-----------------Lingard
    --------------Zlatan---------------

SUBS - Fellaini (Carrick), Young (Lingard), Mata (Mkhi)

    Man United 2 - 0 FC Rostov
    Mkhitaryan, Zlatan

Those sources are at it again.
Wayne Rooney missed last night’s game with a leg injury after he was taken out by Phil Jones in training.

But ESPN are reporting that their ‘sources’ have found out that he will be in contention to return for the Europa League clash against FC Rostov on Thursday.

OMG! You mean a player can pick up a knock that keeps him out of one game, but be ready for a different game 3 days later? WOW!

I think it will be a typical United game of this season as far as how we play. We will miss some early chances, finally get one in the net, let our foot of the gas, Rostov hits us with a goal out of nowhere. 2nd half, fluke goal from Rostov seals our elimination.

Considering we've lost like 5 matches all season I wouldn't say that's a "Typical United game this season". Im expecting a comfortable win.

Id rest Pogba for this one since Herrera will miss the next two games.
Same formation as last night, Carrick in for Pogba and Ibra in for Rashford. Mata for Young

Fancy a big win. Zlatan, Mkhitaryan and Herrera should all be fresh having played no/little part against Chelsea. Pogba should be fresh too, seeing as he was strolling around for much of the match last night.

We shouldn't play 3 in midfield, go attacking and finish the game off. Is Martial available? Haven't seen anything on his injury with regards to this game.

4-4-2 with Rashford next to Zlatan. Go right at them. I don't think midfield will be a factor as they look to down the outside or over the top every time, though maybe that was because their pitch was godawful. I still think we'll be comfortable anyway.

Rashford was impressive last night despite feeding off scraps. His pace alone causes problems, though he's not as effective out wide. It was good to see him through the middle.

Serge in goal, Valencia and Shaw full back, Bailly and Rojo in the middle, Martial left, if he's fit, Mkhi right, Herrera and Pogba in the centre, Rashford and Zlatan up top. PACE.

None of the above will happen. But I'd like to see it.

We'll batter them, they'll come hoping to sneak to a 1-1 and parking the bus for penalties. 4231 with MMM behind Ibra should do them. And hope to God he comes off for once when we're comfortably ahead to give Rashford another go at 9.

This game can't come soon enough. Getting fed up of the over-analysis of the Chelsea game.

    On to the next one.

Torpedo Moscow and Rotor Volgograd written all over this!

Seriously though should be a decent win in this and hopefully some of the other favourites get dumped out the same night.

    Then onto Boro.

I want Mkhi playing like a man possessed. He looked gutted to be replaced last night, I want that to light a fire under his arse. Him&Zlatan will be 100% rested and fit, Zlatan should also be fired up and ready to empty his tank tomorrow night knowing he won't be playing on sunday.

We have typically won at Old Trafford this season in Europa. In fact, so typical that we have won every Europa game at home so far.

I was extremely pessimistic for the CFC game.
Some people did not approve of my pessimism, however, the final result was a loss, as predicted.
However, for this game I am extremely optimistic. I honestly can't see anything other than a big win here. I have predicted 4-1.

Need to go all out in the Europa league now, go with a full strength team. If we're ahead at 60 minutes or so sub off Ibra for Rashford etc.

Is there a psychologist in the house who can explain these Mourinho's comments on Pogba's performance last night? :houllier:

"I have to say that Paul Pogba was by far the best player on the pitch, he was a giant on the pitch and after him all my other players were fantastic."

Uh, only thing I can think of is that Jose is taking the soft approach with him and thinking he needs more self-belief.

Sub Ibra off for what? He hasn't played the last game and can't play the next one, so...

Feeling inspired, huh? No way we're keeping with the formation experiments, though. I think we're just going back to the preferred 4-2-3-1.

    What makes you say that?

We played 3 at the back because Rostov play it.

We played 3 at the back because Chelsea play it.

Therefore, I can only imagine we'll do the same, especially as we go through if we don't concede.

If Mourinho's compliment was a way of saying he's going to drop Pogba, United can present an almost totally rested team, except for the center-backs and the right-back position, where both Valencia and Young must be exhausted (unless Bailly, who doesn't seem an option for center-back now, starts as right-back).

    Valencia doesn't need rest. He's a machine.

    Oh, you're serious!?

No, I don't think the formation change in the last two games was something for the future. I think we played 3 at the back because Mourinho felt we were physically at a disadvantage in both games, away games. In the first in a terrible pitch and trying to protect players for the Chelsea game.

It would be a psychological disaster to face this Rostov home game playing for the result, trying to go just for a draw. Mourinho's not going to do it… I hope.

Full strenght. I hope a victory and a convincing one.

Hope that some of the boys will be back for this game too.

Need to think about Boro on Sunday too (rest De Gea, Jones, Smalling, Carrick and Rashford)

I would only keep one of Jones or Smalling, then Rojo, Valencia (or Bailly), Herrera (of course), and Rashford if he's in top shape. But would drop Pogba for Carrick and play Shaw at left-back.

Don't think it's something Mourinho would go for in the future, I just think he will match Rostov with three at the back like he did in the first leg and against Chelsea.

Alright, but why would he do that in a home game?
