I'm not dreading this match nor do I feel any sort of nervousness regarding our display.
In some ways I'm sort of emotionally disconnected with United these past few seasons and yet,YET,here I am commenting (moaning) about them.
Its a weird place to be in.
You are not on your own there.
In a perverse way I am slightly more optimistic than pessimistic.
We definitely need a confidence boost so what better way.
But if Liverpool score first and dominate the play then things could get ugly.

Take a look at the analyses of Liverpool against Salzburg. Salzburg changed the formation in 30th minute and found the way back into the match. A 4-4-2 diamond formation could work for United too.

    Rashford---Martial
    Pogba
    Pereira--------- Fred

    --------McT----------

Pogba as a 10, because we need workers at the 8, Pogbas defensive workrate is too low, but he is our best passer and our only force in the air. McTominay at the 6, because Matic is too slow. Martial in the box. Rashford drifting our wide or making his runs.
Pogba could be the left 8 too and Lingard as a 10 (Mata is too slow) or Gomes as an alternative, but we would lose Pogbas headers and passing in the final 3rd.
If Martial is not fit enough, Rashford could be in the box and James or Greenwood as 2nd striker.

    Any truth in this?
    "Glazers Out! Glazers Out!"
    *Looks down at wrist watch*
"Sh*t,the game starts in a few minutes.Get into your seats boys!"
    *Glazers $*

I dont want to be too critical of them, though. They clearly love the club and want it to be competitive and they're certainly doing more than me,as I'm sat here on my butt typing away.
But you have to hit the Glazers hard and that's financially.
They simply have to practice what they preach.

Alisson & Matip back in full training for us. Sounds like everyone is fit to play on our end.

Salzburg did a pretty good job of unsettling us. We had to bring Milner on to regain control of the game and get the winner. You have to try and prevent us from getting into a rhythm and controlling the flow of the game.

Arsenal tried to play a 4-4-2 diamond and ended up giving TAA & Robertson free reign on the flanks, which is always risky. They did get some joy from counter attacking through Aubameyang & Pepe in a front two.

Sheffield United were pretty well organized but Mane missed two sitters so they kind of got away with it.

Hard to believe that we finished two places and six points ahead of this lot in the league just 16 months ago.

Since then, appalling decision making around transfer windows and managerial appointments have absolutely ruined us.

Everyone casually forgetting that the Manchester United defense is statistically the best performing defensive side this season.

Will we lose? Not unlikely, but this won't be a slaughter unless Mané is in godmode

Liverpool's defence has looked a lot more dodgy than last season too. We should be able to create some chances and put them under pressure, especially if City do the business on Saturday night - ahead of our game.

It'll be interesting to see how they handle this match. Everything points to a Liverpool win I suppose, but these are the kind of games that quite often produce an upset.

It could be cagey for awhile, but ultimately I think Liverpool will need to take risks to win it. So we need to keep the score at 0-0 for as long as possible, and then try and hit them on the counter attack.

This is a game where Ole will get to use his only tactic of counter attacking. I expect Liverpool to win but we’ll probably be better set up in this game than Norwich away.

    How'd that happen?
Cramp after playing the ball I could read from a commentary. Weird injury. I really, really hope this isn't a Allison situation.

But with our luck this means De Gea is out of the picture for Liverpool, along with Pogba who is still not ready. Along with AWB, Shaw, Martial.......................................................time to open a new bottle of whisky.

Just reading that he felt it as soon as he took the goal kick. Might be similar to Alisson who had the same thing happen.

It's always a bit of a shock when goalkeepers do that. You never expect them to pick up injuries like that.

Bugger, I hope he's Ok. Don't want to face Romero. I think he's the better keeper in recent times and will want to prove his loyalty in a massive cup final.

All we need now is for Maguire, Mcsauce and James to pick their injuries and then the plan will finally come together.

    4-0 United.

James will not score all of them.

Poor Brandon Williams, in the form of his life and you select 5 injured defenders over him, guess you don't rate him?
    Subs would be:
    1. Grant
    2. Bailly with his casts on
    3. Timo Fosu
    4. Dishon Bernard
    5. Max Taylor
    6. Laird
    7. Ercolani
    8. Brandon Williams

FA won't notice, nobody cares anyway. I don't trust our attack!! Let's park the bus!
