FFS the state of this thread already, play the B team :houllier: if they beat us 6-0 let them .
Reading this, why bother even turning up.
It's Liverpool, if you can't get excited for home FA Cup tie with Liverpool! Why are you here ?
He’s clearly a WUM , don’t even bother with him

I agree with the sentiment with @Isotope but I would still play largely first team players. We have a big squad with quality players and we should rightly use it.

    I would play something like:

    Henderson
    Wan-Bissaka Lindelof Maguire Telles
    Matic Pogba
    James Van de Beek Rashford
    Cavani

It’s still the FA cup though! I want to win to go through to the next round as well as screwing over Liverpool. It’s a great cup that I hope we can win!

Let’s smash them, play almost a full team and beat them to ruin their season even more.
We have league games on next Wednesday, Saturday, then Tuesday. Fair enough if we have good enough players to play those tight games being 100% fit.

I think it's stupid to assume we could get our players giving all out 100%, playing 4 games in 10 days. Problem is, our bench isn't that good.

That’s football, you play lots of games, besides we play the worst team in the league Wednesday.

I’m not saying make no changes by the way, I’d like to see VDB, Telles, and maybe one or two others come in.

    Hendo in goal.
Bailly and Axel can play this. We need Lindelof and Maguire fresh and fit for the league games.
    Telles for Shaw

Matric is ready for game time and maybe De Beek?

Cavani and Rashford is fine to start as well

It’s also important for momentum we win today. Does anyone remember in 08 when we smashed Arsenal 4-0 out the cup, that day effectively knocked them out the league title race as it killed their morale (If I remember rightly).

Be a huge confidence booster to knock out one of the best sides in the league.

Totally wrong, what's the point if being in a competition, if you don't go out and try to win it.
Your approach is one I have never understood and never will.
Maybe Ole would win a trophy or two last season, if he could be a bit smarter by prioritizing which Semis he needed to sacrifice. Instead of went full blaze in every SF, while chasing that 4th place also. Instead, he had a team that run out of gas and went out limping in all 3 SFs.

It's easy to understand when using the prioritize strategy.

Feeling relaxed about this game. Expect a few star names to be rested for both sides, which could actually turn this into a more open tie.

Surely you understand the concept of jack of all trades, master of none? It's all very well getting to the deeper stages of competitions but it means feck all if we fall short every single time. You have to pick your battles, even if it is against our bitter arch rivals. And at the stage of the 4th round, it's not like we've invested a lot of energy into the cup. With games coming every 3 days for the next 4 months, there is no way we are going to be able to cope on 3 fronts without injuries and defeats. One thing that is for sure, there won't be a lot of crying (for long) from either set of fans if they lose this one.

Be careful. You might be labeled on wumming by some here.

Forget other thing. Beating Liverpool is more important.

Eh? We finished 3rd so we accomplished that goal and our three semi finals were in very different parts of the season so I’m not sure what point you’re making?

Are you suggesting he should have rested players for those semis?

The Chelsea and Sevilla semis we’re about 4 weeks apart, City was back in January.

Is it time for another Klopp's sacrifice? if so we should take an advantage of it.

I have a feeling Liverpool will play a weakened side, and we’ll play a reasonably strong side (based on Bruno’s interview).
A bit tangential- but does anyone know the rules with regard to naming and sticking to your starting XI team sheet?

for example if we see them field a certain XI, can we change ours (and vice versa)?

Think you can only change due to illness or injury in warm up.

Also, how come did we get City in Carabao and then Pool in FA cup? City got Cheltenham ffs. Who is Cheltenham anyway, Chelsea + Tottenham? feck off.

Agree. If anything United should rotate some players on wednesday against SU as they are significantly weaker.

Are people prioritizing United or personal hatred on Liverpool? The later is just stupid.

They can beat us 6-0 on this 4th round FA Cup. Let them have the win over United trophy that used to be their proudest trophies under Fergie. As long as we win the League, it's more important to the Club.
    Unbelievable.

It’s Sheff Utd we play mid week not peak Barcelona, hope that answers your question.

    Happy game day reds!

Do we still have half the caff wanting 11 changes today?

I want 3-4 changes and a strong team capable of making a statement

    Oh dear.

If we beat Liverpool, we're 4 wins away from lifting our first major trophy in the Solskjaer era.

Absolutely NO need to change the entire team, risking a good chance to win a major trophy, all so that we're slightly more fresh v's rock bottom of the league Sheff United. We can rest 3-4 today and 3-4 on Wednesday.

Plus it goes without saying, this is the most fragile Liverpool have been in years, we can significantly damage their season and strengthen ours. A win today will propel our confidence no-end.

Its a lot easier to win than the league thats for sure. We should go for it. Imagine we played a weakened side today, got tonked, lost confidence, then slip up in the league and finish 5th. Everyone would point to today as the catalyst and why didnt Ole go for it etc etc

I fully expect our strongest spine starting (Maguire, Fred, Pogba, Bruno, Cavani) and for us to go for this full-blooded

I know we're in a title race, but we win this today, and we're 4 wins from lifting our first major trophy in the Ole era.

As long as Bruno is rested then whatever chunk of the rest of the team is rotated doesn't bother me.

Some strange over confidence on here. We failed to beat them just a week ago.

As for being happy to lose, ridiculous.

They'll no doubt go full strength for this one. Ole has to respond in kind.

Our next 3 games: Liverpool, Sheffield United, Arsenal.

Hopefully, Ole will go with our best starting 11 today, make changes for bottom of the table SU, then back to a well-rested first 11 for the trip to Arsenal.

The fact if we lose this it will be another stick for some in the media to beat Ole with. Can't beat the big boys. Beat Liverpool, then they have difficult games coming up. It could seriously wreck their season.
Yup. I’d feel exactly the same if it were any of the “big boys” we were facing, not just the Dippers; even Leicester, towards whom I feel no animosity whatever.

If we give it our best shot, and get narrowly and unluckily beaten by a brilliantly resurgent Liverpool, I will be disappointed but will get over it. If we flop out in a half-arsed and timid way I won’t be thinking Ole’s been brilliant at playing the long game. It’ll renew my doubts as to whether he’s really the person to be building a winning team, regardless of the massive improvement he’s brought about so far.

I wonder if our players are feeling more confident after playing Liverpool last week and discovering they aren't quite as formidable as they were 12 months ago, allowing them to play with a little more freedom and attacking intent for this one.

Plus it's the FA Cup, no one parks the bus for a cup tie, right?

The bookies have made United favourites today, whereas at Anfield we were strong outsiders. I also think the Burnley game has shattered their season, and our Fulham win has strengthened ours.

There's no doubting we've come out of the draw at Anfield as the winners, and it will help our chances today.
