Manchester City Football Club (nicknamed City, The Citizens, and The Sky Blues), are a professional football club based in Manchester, England. City were founded in 1880 as St. Mark's (West Gorton), before being renamed as Ardwick Association Football Club in 1887, and finally Manchester City in 1894 - and the origins can be traced back to members of St. Mark's Church of England, West Gorton — who founded the football club that would become known as Manchester City, for largely humanitarian purposes. Two church wardens sought to curb local gang violence and alcoholism by instituting new activities for local men, whilst high unemployment plagued East Manchester, specifically Gorton. All men were welcome to join, regardless of religion.

The team's first recorded match occurred on 13 November 1880, and City gained their first honors by winning the Second Division in 1899 — with it came promotion to the highest level in English football, the First Division. In the seasons following the FA Cup triumph of 1904, the club was dogged by allegations of financial irregularities, culminating in the suspension of seventeen players in 1904, including captain Billy Meredith, who subsequently moved across town to Manchester United. Almost half a century later later, a City team inspired by a tactical system known as the Revie Plan reached consecutive FA Cup finals again, in 1955 and 1956; just as in the 1930s, they lost the first one, to Newcastle United, and won the second. The club continued to challenge for honors throughout the 1970s, finishing one point behind the league champions on two occasions and reaching the final of the 1974 League Cup.

Prior to the takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008, the club had enjoyed moderate levels of success through their history — however, since the start of the current decade, City have been buoyed by the signings of Sergio Agüero, Yaya Touré, David Silva, Vincent Kompany — and have emerged as perpetual title contenders Vincent Kompany winning the league four times and repeatedly finishing in the Top 3. City play their homes games at the Etihad Stadium, and their biggest rivals are neighbors and opponents for the game, Manchester United.

If there is a briefing that Ole is getting sacked

    Man Utd 2-1 City

If Ole is under no pressure

    Man Utd 1-4 City

    We'll get destroyed.

I know my spirits are down, i can only assume they are also on the low.

Can't see us recovering mentally this soon.

Maybe if we don't concede in the first half, we might snatch something out of this.

Possession in that game will be interesting. Maybe we will brake a record in home games

We've found City quite beatable lately, but our poor defending and low confidence is gonna hurt.

On top of that, City are starting to really kick into that gear again where they bulldoze teams so this can go very badly.

Ooor we'll thrash them and be the first club to lose to Sheffield this season the following week.

Well we can`t defend to save our lives so just go in from the start with the feeling we`re chasing the game with 20 minutes to go.

    Getting ready for a thrashing.

At least I will be able to relax about this game.

    Relax, not enjoy.

Lose this and we'll be starting to slip away from top 4, after a week where we crashed out of the CL and Pogba all but announced he's off.

Bad week so far and it's not even Wednesday.

I honestly don't know what we'll do, probably back to 4-2-3-1 with McFred. Mata back on the right? Maybe throw a curveball and play Pellestri.

Cafe thinks we're getting thrashed, so 2-0 United like last season.

Probably the 3-5-2 again. Expect a counter attacking goal or two from United (although if Martial is still injured that's a big blow), less than 40% possession, and City will score as well.

    2-2

We must not play a defensive game, that would favour City, they have a weak defence when quickley attacked since they depend on attacking full backs. So we attack and exploite the gaps they leave when coming forward, unfortunately I think our manager and coaching staff will decide on a defensive game and quick counter attacks. However, given our recent results where we give away early goals I do not see this as an attractive tactic. There is no doubt that City will attack us from the start hoping to catch our defence cold and that for me is a serious worry.

Would go for this, assuming one of Martial/Cavani won't be ready but the other will be. Would be tempted to start VdB though, as he is actually good on the ball under pressure. But if we go for this front 3, than definitely Rashford on the right for balance and Greenwood in the middle for the movement and striker instinct.

    Losing to Comeback Winning!
 Like always we're going to win this and then everyone will use that as a beating stick = proof that everything is right, shut up, don't criticize the manager, coaches and players, there's nothing wrong and changes are not needed.

I really want United to win this one. I want United to challenge for the league title. Really can't be bothered about CL and Europe leagues. Come on United!

Well lose by 2. I think 3-1 and still we'll get the same bullshit comments like "there's no time for regrets we must focus on our next game".

Lost hope on this team for the season already, we threw away the season the moment we decided Ole deserved to waste another one just because he managed to get top 4. We get what we deserve, stay with average coached we'll keep getting average results.

City not near as good as they were in seasons 2018/19 and 2017/18 but they don't need to be to win this game as proved with a mediocre Arsenal, Palace winning in OT this season.

Citys main players rested for the week while united with just 4 days to recover from a very disappointing champions league exit is a recipe for disaster.

If United want to rid Ole (and I don't at the moment based on league form), United should do it before a break. So that the new manager gets an opportunity to communicate the new approach and tactics. Hopefully the players are intelligent enough to adapt quickly. If there is a sacking, I would like to see a contsructive and not destructive sacking.

Needs to be a decent defensive effort if choosing to play that way, void of lapses in concentration and individual errors as was seen tonight.

A few weeks ago Jose Spurs played and beat City 2-0. 34% possession and 2 shots on target is what they had in that match.

Couldn't care less, sick of false dawns now, will probably be a shitty 0-0 and keep Ole in the job

If you are Ole, how would you motivate your players after that shambolic and gutless performance in Germany?

I mean, at this stage, we would be better off if Bruno leads the team out as player-manager against City.

I am hoping, true to our inconsistent form, we nick an unexpected freak win. Something to cheer about at least in what has been a painfully dismal year as a United fan.

This game doesn’t bare thinking about.

Ole will once again be under enormous pressure, so with that in mind 2-1 United :houllier:

    Henderson
    AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    Fred
    McT VdB
    Bruno
    Cavani Rashford

    Manager: Mauricio Pochettino

Unfortunately though, the manager is Ole, so the ridiculously overrated and genuinely useless at moment in time trio of De Gea, Martial and Telles (said so since WBA, he is poor and this is why no one picked him up from Porto and he is a sub for Brazil behind the inexperienced Lodi) will all start.

Prediction: 0-2 City if Ole is still the manager.

With the Rollercoaster of results at United, not sure what to make of things if we win this game. Without any unusual circumstances like strange penalty, offside calls, var interference, etc., I expect us to loose. But, it won't be like city is playing fulham. City is playing the third most expensive team in the world. So, it should be a competitive match.
