Not afraid one bit. Previously i used to worry if our bubble would burst if we lose a big game. But now it's different. Even if we lose i'm sure this won't ruin our season and we will be up and running in no time.

If we manage to win this game, I can see pep saying we had an extra days rest.

I would be tempted to change the formation a bit, play Rashford upfront, with Bruno left and Antony right (to find space for Rashford, and have two workers on thw wing) and have Fred in the midfield. But I suppose that Ten Hag will keep his formation and his starting XI.

We can t compete with the ball, so I d say the best way to play to get a result would be to have a low block and hoping for Rashford to create a miracle. Other than that, I don t see us causing them much trouble.

Just hope the cyborg will not shine too much....

If anyone is going to win via counter attacks it's us

If we try and force it they'll run rings around us, we need to be patient and stop the service to Haaland as much as possible
Yeah, I think we'll start the usual lineup but compensate for Eriksen's lack of strength at the #8 spot by sitting deeper since Haaland is terrifying on the break anyways, and just bring on Fred for the last half hour plus.

Still worries me when we play against City. They seem to raise their game against us and just turn into clinical monsters. If we can weather the first half an hour I think we could be fine.

First really good team we faced for some time. Not looking forward to it, still traumatized since they cut through our defence like a hot knife through butter last time around. We need the players to really put out a performance and maybe we can come through this with some pride left. Fred is in good form and i think we need his energy in there. Hopefully he starts.

We’ve been in better form than City for a long time now and there’s enough video of City struggling to break down teams for long periods of games that ETH can analyse.
    I’m stupidly confident about this
I don't watch City so tbh no idea about form. But tbf imo they're still stronger than us, well oiled than us. And they have that insane lad. But we have an insane Rashford too. Plus we'll be at home which is a huge advantage imo. It'd be a very tough match imo and I'd say 60-40 of course they're 60.

Anyway I'm confident we won't look too bad even if we lose.

Always worry about the midfield in these big games. We can look so open at times. Bruno will need to play a bit deeper and help out more often. Alternatively it may be worth playing Fred and Bruno either on the right or a false 9.

fecking Everton kept these at bay and got a score draw. And they dont even have a decent front line. I cant see why we cant win convincingly.

Guardiola is dropping Haaland vs Us and playing Alvarez.

That’s all that’s entered his head.

In the previous match we looked much better when Casemiro and Fred came on and made it a midfield 3. Won the second half 3-2 and lost the first half 4-0.

I don’t think that’s true this year. They’ve become a lot more one dimensional with Haaland up top and are struggling to create a fluid attack around him. Haaland not being able To involve himself in the build up if really hindering their play in and around the box and the ball is coming back quicker at their defence.
I really hope this is a Ten Hag mastercalsss because the holes in Citys game is there.

No Haaland. I think he knows Sir Marcus is the more complete player and doesn’t want to embarrass the goalhanger.
Peps always been hugely complimentary to Marcus, I think he fears united front 3 pace so when he says left field, it’s in defence Laporte and Diaz are quite slow expect Stones, Akanji, Walker and Ake to start with cancello playing in midfield at CDM rather than Rodri he wants pure mobility and will think that Gundogan might be a weak link in this game ! I’m only guessing but I can see United maybe counteracting by playing a 4312 with Shaw,AWB, Varane, Martinez in defence with Casemeiro, Fred, Eriksen as 3 and Bruno behind Marcus and Martial, Bruno will try and pull one of their CB out of position and our two strikers will make out to in runs looking for the ball over the top and In to out runs when city’s FB go inverted in midfield.

City have dropped points a lot this year. I wonder if it’s them lacking something or other teams finding something. I hope ETH is all over it in his analysis (I’m sure he is)

I’m very excited about this game but my only cause of concern is that we haven’t really played our best back 4 with any consistency since before the World Cup. I would’ve felt better if they had at least a couple of games together before this but I fully trust ETH and I think we’ll finally give city a proper game. Feels like it has been ages

I don't mind losing games if we play with the right attitude, and this is certainly no exception, Ole's tactics in these games of holding on for dear life and hopefully snatching something has to be a thing of the past at this stage.
We certainly aren't at a level where we can abandon discipline and structure but we also absolutely need to show there's a bit more to us than overloading the defence and hoping to hit a lucky goal or two on the break.

    Piss off then?
Yeah, 3 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw in 5 PL meetings is definitely not a very good record vs Pep's superteams whilst OGS had a weak as hell squad throughout his United tenure. Even 4 in 9 isn't that bad if you count all competitions.

You're so invested in football that you have 25,000 messages on an online forum but at the same time believe that "Under Ole, Pep didn't even bother prepping his team"

When Dortmund studied our win vs them at the Etihad for their upcoming CL quarter final vs City, I'm sure all they found is that we had "no tactics, just vibes". I reckon you're one of those people

Would like to see us try to control the game, granted easier said than done against City even if their form is iffy.

Casemiro going to be the key difference this time round I think. My only concern is whether we take our chances, I don't trust Martial tbh. But I'm torn as to whether we start Rashford upfront flanked by Garnacho and Antony, or to play Rashford in his preferred wide forward position and pray Martial doesn't scuff everything given to him, or at least not managing to injure himself.

If KDB wasn't playing I would really fancy our chances but that guy is their 'Roy of the Rovers'. He makes everything single handedly good about them.
