Wish I could fast forward to this game. Dumb loss at Spurs, followed by the current news cycle and everyone wanting to take a pop at United - just want to see the team play well and score a couple, hopefully

Yes, because this is how football works.

We could've had 4 in the last game
Could have had 4 many times last year in the League. We did it once. Our finishing is shite and that is nothing to do with "how football works"

Go back to basics, Start Eriksen over Mount to Partner Casemiro, Put Bruno in the no.10 role, Get Rashford out wide, Put Martial up top, Sancho on the right wing, Get Dalot in there too.

Mount out injured, So it's Eriksen back in with Casimero and hopefully a 4-2-3-1 .. not 4-3-3...
And maybe Martial up front Rashford left and Sancho right. Antony needs dropping . Maybe Mctom comes on but who knows seems he surplus.

-1 in goal difference in the second game already. Only United of all the big clubs can be in this position year in year out. Never going to challenge for the title this season as usual. It will be a top 4 chase.

Forest will give us a good game. Hopefully we are up for it.

Comfortable/convincing win say a few here, a hope more than expectation?

Logic suggest if United win it will more likely be 1-0 that winning 3 or 4-0. Hopes springs eternal and maybe Saturday is one of those rare days that this group of United players are clinical with the chances created.

Casemiro and McTominay have NEVER played alongside each other under Ten Hag. The latter was only ever cover for the former, and never anything else. I don't think we'll pick both.

If I had to guess, it'd be this:

    ———— Onana ————
    AWB Varane Martinez Shaw
    —-Casemiro Eriksen—-
    —————-Bruno—————
    Antony——————Sancho

Now is probably the time to do that. Maybe it what we have needed all this time.

Exactly. Short memories. Just like since Fred left suddenly everyone is missing him.
Yeah, but if we turned down decent money gor him then we may as well play him at some point. What's the point in turning down £30m we could have used on a decent midfielder only to let him rot on the bench.

At this point there's a better chance of McTominay and Casemiro functioning in midfield together than Rashford being good in the centre forward role. It's fine seeing managers make mistakes, but not the same mistakes repeatedly by either picking their favourites or playing players out of position. Ten Hag lost a lot of trust with his terrible in game management and away record last season and needs to do something to regain it. Admitting that something isn't working would be a good start.

More than anything I just really wish the guy would give more chances to our academy products. Our squad make up is seriously concerning in terms of age and if we don't use the young players at the club, this season will be a real slog as we have no depth at all. How a player like Hannibal would perform at first team level is unknown, but after Eriksen's cameo against Spurs, surely it's worth a shot. It's much more palatable losing games when you can see there's something to potentially look forward to in the future.

Pretty sure ETH is not the one who turned down the bid. If we dont buy Amrabat(or another CM), it would be the worst decision we made in this transfer window, and heads need to roll I'm afraid.

But he did know roughly what our budget would be and decided that Mount was a priority over a true CM. I'm not blaming Ten Hag for all of our woes, but he needs to take some responsibility and use the whole squad he has at his disposal to figure out solutions. If he doesn't want to use McTominay that's fine, but if he persists with Eriksen instead then I'll have no sympathy when he's under enormous pressure in the coning months.

It's clear we need an upgrade on Scott, but he's still a better option than Eriksen at this point. At least he offers an aerial threat, which we severely lack, and he throws himself into blocks and challenges occasionally. Our team is far too weak physically and this, along with never adapting the tactics regardless of personnel or opposition, is a big part of the reason why we managed just one point away from home against the top 9 teams in the league last season.

Expecting a painstaking 1:0 win, where we are outworked and spend the last 10 minutes holding on to dear life against Nottingham Forest at home.

People hate Bruno on the wing, but i wouldn’t mind seeing a Casemiro, McTominay and Eriksen midfield. I’m getting tired of us getting overrun in midfield and not being able to pass the ball around…

I’d take that - progress for us from last year and pretty much a similar scenario at Arsenal a couple of weeks ago. I do want Awoniyi to score to make it 7 games in a row and 9 goals in those 7

I’d play McTominay but keep the 433 rather than back to a 4231.

    Onana
    Dalot - Varane - Martinez - Shaw
    Casemiro
    McSauce - Bruno
    Sancho - Hojlund - Rashford

Jesus, he's two games in and we seem to have given up on him already. He's just cost us 60 million pounds but unfortunately I totally agree with you, it's a blessing in disguise.

Such an ill thought out transfer, he's going to be a really expensive squad player by Christmas. That money could have been spent so much better.

For me changes are needed for Saturday, Rashford back on the left, Sancho on the right and Martial through the middle to hold the ball up. Mctominey and Casemiro in the middle, Mctominey seems to have been totally written off but reality is he's going to put in more of a defensive shift than any other player aside from Casemiro.

Dalot at right back as well, we need that attacking push against a poor side.

Pretty sure they did for a short time recently when McTom came on. Was either pre-season or against Wolves. I remember thinking here's his chance to show if he can elevate his game playing with a true number 6...

    He was the same

Arsenal barely scraped a win against this lot.

We need to press them high, get a goal and not let up until we score two more or the game is over.

Mount can be replaced with McTominay to do the pressing, or we might see Eriksen.

Casemiro and Eriksen are both far to pedestrian to make it work. They would look like prime Pirlo and Xavi in there if it was a veterans game or something where the pace was much lower than the PL.

Scott and Hannibal should both be considered for the starting 11 on saturday because they have the legs that is needed in midfield.

It worked for a large part of last season.

Mount injury might actually help tbh. Eriksen will help us keep possession in midfield. Doesn't offer enough in terms of pressing and we'll still be vulnerable to counters through the centre but at least Eriksen can help us progress the ball. Still fully expect Awoniyi to score at least 1 goal. Not sure I really believe we can score 2 or more goals in our current state. Hopefully Martial starts and can play well while we're waiting for Hojlund

Any sort of win will do. Arsenal away is next and I'd be lying if I said I'd any confidence in getting anything there.

I imagine it won't help, and that if we start with Casemiro and Eriksen then Forrest will run through our midfield just as much as Wolves did.

Na, we’ll reset to our old formation that is less alien to everyone
