With Michael Owen commentating on Arsenal's game tonight I hope we don't get Hargreaves for our match.

They're both as bad as each other in different ways, Owen is generally dull and over used, and Hargreaves whilst more tolerable comes out with some stupid stuff.

BT really need to take a look at this, why doesn't Rio get some co commentary games, or even Mcmanaman.

Hargreaves cut & paste observations and 100 mile an hour talking grates on me much worse than Owen's bland nasally delivered points.

McManaman is getting some of City's games this season, don't want him on ours but I'd take Rio or hell even Glen Hoddle.

Not heard McManaman do reckon he'd be ok though.

BT need to mix it up a bit, I swear Owen is just packed away in a box after every game and put into storage with all the other props they have... The guy is just always on, and is so consistently dull.

Personally I like Alan Smith and Danny Murphy.

I'm not quite ready to write Rooney off yet. I may be alone on this....
you're not...although it's clearly not only down to him. We might not have Ronaldo or Messi, but we have a lot of talent in our squad and there's no way all of them can have such a low goal/assist return without it partialy/mostly being down to the way the team is set up. I'm not arguing the results, seeing as with a home win against PSV tomorrow and a win against Leicester on the weekend we can go through to the knockout stages in the CL and get the #1 spot in the league regardless of other results, and I'm of the opinion that next season (if not late on in this season) we'll start seeing the fruits of LvG's labour so to speak, but for now the team clearly isn't there yet.

I've gone with Memphis/Martial/Lingard/Mata as our front 4. Think Wayne off the bench?

Not sure which 2 out of Memphis/Martial/Rooney will play.

I'd imagine Rooney is more likely to start than Martial, one coming back from illness, the other an injury.

I can see Schweini rested for that one with Fellaini in midfield next to Schneiderlin

I'd hope for something like this:

    DDG
    Darmian Smalling Blind Rojo
    Schweinsteiger Herrera
    Lingard Mata Depay
    Martial
But I think it's unrealistic to expect to see Herrera in midfield or Rooney not starting, despite Van Gaal's comments about the latter. Also Darmian is probably still not allowed. We'll probably end up with something more like this:

    DDG
    Young Smalling Blind Rojo
    Schneiderlin Schweinsteiger
    Lingard Rooney Depay
    Martial
EDIT: Oh, just seen Herrera's ruled out. Bugger.

Think Mata will be dropped for this one. I went with

    -----------------De Gea-----------------
    Young-----Smalling---Blind----Rojo

    --------------Schneiderlin---Schweinsteiger

    Lingard------Rooney-----Martial
    ---------------Depay------------

PSV fans are planning on unveiling this banner, class!

Extreme class from PSV. I've always liked the Dutch. They're a very easy people to get along with. Having travelled the world, their sense of civility is right up there with the very best.

 We can pass it around the stadium as he moves up and down the field.

    OR

Do what those German lads did and get a bunch of arrows and point towards wherever he is.

Just get Phil Jones to spend the 90 mins running after him full pelt, no matter where the ball is, making Phil Jones faces. If the fecker goes to take a shit, I want Jones breaking through the stall door with his face.

With Martial, Rooney and Fellaini confirmed fit, I'm going with:

    ------------ De Gea
    Darmian - Smalling - Blind - Rojo
    --- Schneiderlin - Schweinsteiger
    Lingard ---- Rooney ----- Memphis
    ------------- Martial
Think the only variations of this we could see is Young at RB, and one of Lingard, Mata, or Memphis not starting on the wings. Knowing LVG he'll start Memphis up top and Martial at LW.
    Hoping for:

    De Gea
    Darmian Smalling Blind Rojo
    Schweinsteiger Schneiderlin
    Lingard Rooney Young
    Martial

Prediction: 3-0 (Young, Martial and Bastian)
    Subbing Darmian for Darmian?

It's the best way to ensure a like-for-like substitution to avoid having to change the tactics to accomodate for a different type of player.

I see the vast majority do not even expect us to concede.

Not unreasonable I suppose. But I think we will not be gung ho. Don't expect us to score more than 2 at the most.
Fair shout. We've conceded one goal, a penalty, when we switched to 3 at the back, in how many minutes? I don't expect the flood gates to open just because of that. Our defense has been playing very well. I just hope LVG doesn't start with the same formation we ended with against Watford.

    That banner is great.

There has been some turmoil about a video of a PSV training session earlier this week. Former international Stijn Schaars (not currently in the first XI) had a go at Luciano Narsingh for being dismissive of coaching. "Some lads are only out for themselves here! It's just teamcoaching!" Schaars yelled.

If it get Narsingh off his game, all the better. Quick player, good crossing, good finisher.

Say what you want about van Gaal, but it's pretty good to look at the team options and see a bunch of names that are relatively unknown. Really does give youth a chance.
