Fred and Lingard to start for fitness, Pogba possibly too.

    2-0 United win.
Think Pogba will be a sub. Probably get about 30 minutes. Lingard and Fred will start for sure.

Mellor is a much better option - Hoogewerf doesn't even impress at U18-level, whereas Mellor has done quite well at reserves-level
Yeah I get that, just feel hoogerwerf has a higher ceiling than Mellor

Such an easy game, and with Arsenal coming up, I'm taking a chance and picking Garner to start with Fred and Gomes. Probably picking one too many Academy players, but with so many injuries our hand is forced.

    Romero
    Dalot Tuanzebe Jones Rojo
    Fred Garner
    Lingard Gomes Chong
    Greenwood

No such thing as such an easy game especially with all the doom and gloom around Old Trafford at the moment and if Rochdale turn up and play this game like their cup final it could become tricky

Colchester United are worse than Rochdale but they knocked Spurs out tonight a warning that United should heed and hopefully whatever 11 is selected to start they come into this game prepared right and with focused minds to deliver the desired result...

Next league game is against Arsenal, so it's better to play only kids and back up players if we have any.

    Would go with

Romero; Dalot Tuanzebe Jones Rojo; Garner Matic; Lingard Gomes Chong; Greenwood.
Why play Garner and Matic in the same team? They are both #6s and will get in each other's way. Play: Garner, Levitt. Why play Lingard ahead of Ramazani? Ramazani is in-form, a proper winger, and freely scoring for U-23s.

I wanted Levitt to play but thought it will be too many young players. Also Matic isn't good enough for first team, so just threw him for cup game.

Would go with Levitt for sure. Him and Garner had very good partnership this season. Also Ramazani played on monday, so doubt he will be involved.

Hadn't realized. I guess he won't be starting tonight; which means Lingard.

I just watched that clip of Rochdale's goals against Southend and noticed Southend consistently gave Rochdale time and space; which Matic sometimes does. Garner and Levitt will press them tightly. If we play our best U-23s with a senior player defense Rochdale should be pressed off the pitch.

The players i want to see the most are Dalot, Tuanzebe, Gomes, Fred and Greenwood. If fit, Garner should get minutes too.

I tell you what I've got an awful feeling about this one.

We aren't playing well and will probably play a team full of players that aren't match fit.

Our U21s played against Rotherham and played them off the park, not sure if they played their full strength team. So we should win the game easily no matter which team we play.

Of course then we are talking about ManUtd, going by last 6 seasons, we might do worse than our U21s.

 They'll probably tear us apart with some of that football. Oh dear, i was hoping for a comfortable night.
I live close to Southend, and they're pretty shit TBH.

Teams have nothing to lose by getting themselves up against PL opposition though. They're expected to lose so will go all out to play.

They play better football than us.
Without comparing the level of competition when we talk about "patterns", playing identity and coaching this is what we refer to. It's not bought with 200m it's created. Just might save this video for reference

Play only players who won't feature against Arsenal. No need to risk regular starters against Rochdale.

If this was at Rochdale, I'd stick a fiver on a 1-0 upset or something. But I can't see past a drab victory for us at OT. 2-0 is my guess, we'll look comfortable but won't look like scoring many.

I reckon if the lads turn up with the right attitude, and Ole gets the tactics spot on, we just might cause an upset.

Would love to see Williams at LB instead of Rojo.
