Next league game is against Arsenal, so it's better to play only kids and back up players if we have any.

    Would go with

Romero; Dalot Tuanzebe Jones Rojo; Garner Matic; Lingard Gomes Chong; Greenwood.

Looks like Pogba is going to get some minutes so should be fine for Arsenal.

No Martial though so it's looking bleak for Monday with Rashford out too no doubt.

I want the season to end already. Fecking shambles FC.

Tight 2-0 win I think. Not a lot of creativity will be on offer but we'll get through based on better quality.

Is there a presser for this? Love to hear the optimism, " I have belief in these players," etc

I’m looking forward to seeing Gomes and Chong again, hopefully Greenwood will be back or Garner get a shot. If we can build on the first 30 mins of the Astana game, it will help the kids develop their play.

I'd want to see Tuanzebe and Fred again at least. I expect Lingard is starting this game as well after making substitute appearances in the last two games. Has their been any word on Dalot, Pogba or Greenwood yet? I assume Martial and Rashford are still out as their injuries were the more innocuous ones which always seem to end up worse than the hefty challenge ones.

    Romero
    Dalot Tuanzebe Jones Rojo
    Fred Matic
    Lingard Gomes Chong
    Greenwood
    ---
Grant; Young, Maguire; McTominay, Pogba, Mata, James

Not fully sure about this as I can see Matic being 'rested' after playing a fair few games in a row, but I'd rather he play here so McTominay is fresher for Arsenal as we can't afford to lose him to injury as well. We really just need some comfortable wins to get some confidence back into the side, especially the away game coming up in the Europa League to get that away win monkey off our back.

So are we going to beat the 17th team in league one at the theatre of dreams?
Could you imagine we get knocked out?
It's a scary thought but I'm not 100% confident it wont happen.

We should win though. Yes. Somebody...

Could potentially be without Rashford, Martial and Greenwood against Rochdale and probably only have Greenwood available for Arsenal.

How fecking soul destroying has this season got already. We've only played 6 league games and 1 EL game too. :(

Absolutely sheet. I don't even look forward to games anymore because it is just so stressful watching us struggling or refreshing commentary with little to no attack.

Mctominay for Pogba once he's got Enough minutes.
Chong for James and Martial for Greenwood if he's fit enough for the bench.

Everyone with the ability to think critically for themselves knew this was coming albeit probably not this quickly. Joke of a club, top to bottom

For tomorrow night I would go with:

    Romero
    Dalot Jones Tuanzebe Rojo
    Fred Garner
    Lingard Gomes Chong
    Greenwood

I'd like to see us try a 4141 tomorrow, simply because the 4231 we've used so far this season, doesn't seem to be working from an attacking point of view. We're creating very few chances, and becoming very predictable. That said, it will most likely be the same with whatever system we go with, but I'd go with:

    Greenwood
    James Gomes Pogba Dalot
    Fred
    Rojo Jones Tuanzebe Wan-Bissaka
    Romero

Can anyone recall the last time a Utd domestic cup game was not on TV? (in UK/Ireland)

Maybe I am forgetting an obvious one but I think it is many, many years

Our league cup third round games haven't been on TV in the UK for what feels like forever

    feck it.

The banter of seeing Jones as United captain would at least be funny.

    0-1 to them

Could Hoogerwerf be added to the squad since we're light on forwards?

1-0 to us with a late penalty. Rochdale will bring the bus and we won’t have the nous to break them down. It’s tight looking games like this where we miss Fellaini, he was always a good bet for a late goal after a frustrating night.

    ----------------romero
    ----Dalot-jones--rojo-laird
    ---------------tuanzebe
    --------pereira----------fred
    ----Chong-------------gomes
    -----------------lingard

Time to give Tuanzebe a try as defensive midfielder with matic past it and fred not a good fit there either, tuanzebe at least has a decent amount of 1st team football under his belt compared to garner if we to use either in that position against arsenal on Sunday and we just need him to protect the back 4 and play it simple, give young a rest at left back as he's no spring chicken and he will probably be needed for the arsenal game. no point risking any forwards even Greenwood against a league 2 side with arsenal next and our current injury crisis in that area, fred needs games and I doubt pereira will be playing against arsenal with pogba back.

My first game this season back at OT, and Im well looking forward to it. It'll be great to see Gomes, Chong and hopefully Garner get more chances at first team level. Whether you like the present situation or not, these lads are our best chance of competing at the top again in 3-4 years time, and deserve our support, time and patience.

I suspect Ole may go for this :-

    Romero
Dalot, Williams OR Young, Axel & Jones
    Garner, Fred & Pogba
Chong, Greenwood(if fit) OR Lingard & Gomes

Don't want to see slow experienced players in this game, we need to play with a purpose and a certain tempo to our play..

Fred and Lingard to start for fitness, Pogba possibly too.

    2-0 United win.

Can I ask those who follow the under 23’s/Under 18’s. Should Both Greenwood and Martial be out injured, or (one of them) only available for a short run-out, who is next in line? I am assuming we have other strikers/forwards in the youth teams?

    How promising are they?

Mellor is a much better option - Hoogewerf doesn't even impress at U18-level, whereas Mellor has done quite well at reserves-level

There are quite a few promising ones but they are too young. If they are all out, it's better to play with someone like James as a striker.

The next in line is Mellor, he wasn't in U23 side vs Aston Villa last night but commentator on MUTV said he was injured. It would be a massive step up at this stage for him. Suspect we will go for Lingard if Greenwood doesn't make it.
