His best performance of the season was basically a normal game for Varane, so yes it's fine to drop him.
Not really, Varane has nowhere near as much value in possession. However we need Varane for that security in Europe, he's the better player.

Rancid team, don't be fooled by the name. Easy passage into the semi-final.

Maguires play yesterday was nothing more than what Varane does for us. Yes Maguire spread the ball well but we don't miss the ability to play out from the back with him out. Bruno and Licha do it all the time and eriksen is back now.

Maguire has a nice range and his passes are easy on the eye but he moves the ball far too slowly. Varane while not as technically gifted passes with more urgency which helps us get the ball forward quicker.

Keep Rashford in an ice bath from now until 19:30 on Thursday and then he’ll be good to go

Can’t imagine Rashford will be back for this so I’d go with

    Ddg
    Wan Bissaka Varane Martinez Shaw
    Casemiro McTominay
    Bruno
    Antony Martial Sancho

Not sure if Martial is fit enough to start, team should be like this:

    DDG
    AWB Varane Licha Malacia
    Cas
    Antony Bruno Sabitzar Sancho
    AM/Wout

Tony scored but he isn't really look sharp at all, will Eth comes up another crazy idea that Bruno/Sabitzar play false 9?

McT played well vs Everton, but he also lost most procession in the attacking play, this is the extra bit of a star midfielder that we are looking for, I still think he is more suitable to play in away game that we need bodies and energy to defend, I don't think he works well with cas too.

Will take any win at home, we need someone to step up to score goals, will bet on Cas scores from a set play!

Maguire will start imo. It wouldn't be right to drop him after what was probably his best performance of the season v Everton.
My nan would of had a good game against Everton and she's been in the ground for the last 20 years.

Martial on the bench - no way I am risking an injury to Martial in a game like this with Rashford already injured.

They came 4th last year. Underestimate them at your peril.

    This is their competition also
It's not a case of underestimating - it's more a case of "if we play close to our best, we should go through easily" - we have played 4 spanish sides a lot better than Sevilla this season. And yes they were good last season but they have been awful this season. Last season they had a goal difference of 53-30 - this season with 10 matches left to play - they are at 33-44 so they are really poor defensively.

    We should win this one

Like they do every season, Seville will be going all out for glory in the Europa Cup and given the perils of their league position, I would say even more so this season!

We cannot assume that given the season they're having, they will open up and allow us to create lots of opportunities. Therefore it's imperative, we take our chances and don't fall into their shithousery tactics. If we play to out potential, yes we should beat them over two legs, but that is precisely what we haven't being doing consistently for few weeks now.

The quarter final of a major European competition? Certainly worth 'risking' him from the start in that more than a random league game v Forest for me.

His minutes have got to be managed, but we need a first leg lead to take to Sevilla so, without Rashford, we really need to start with a goalscoring #9 and I'd definitely start Martial v Sevilla (for an hour or so) and then only use him from the bench against Forest.

I would love to think Martial is fit to play most of the game but history is against me on that one. As such I'll go:

    DdG
    AWB Varane Martinez Malacia
    Casemiro Eriksen
    Antony Bruno Sancho
    McTominay

And Martial on around the hour mark after whichever random choice of a CF we go with stinks it up. (Most likely Weghorst or Sabitzer I expect but would much rather try out McTominay).

We’re likely to be without Casemiro for the second leg as well

    “Game like this”. WTF???

Absent fitness concerns, you start your best players. Unless something goes terrible wrong during this week’s pedicure, Martial has to start.

The harder question is who starts in midfield with Casemiro and Bruno…Eriksen or Sabitzer? I’d give the edge to Sabitzer but if ETH believes Eriksen is ready to start, so it shall be.

So Sevilla drew 2-2 at home vs Celta after being in 2-0 lead as late as on the 89th minute.

They also got two red cards which led to them releasing this cringeworthy statement.

To be quite honest, I am convinced we will do ok at home against Sevilla even without both Rashford and Martial.

Some extreme over confidence here. Sevilla are the masters of .. let's say the spanish way of playing. If we aren't very careful, they will hang on for a jammy 1-1 at OT and knick a win at home.

I'm confident with Martials return, we can miss ashford for now. Team is firing on all cylinders again.

Too soon for Martial and Eriksen to start, I think. Assuming Rashford and Shaw aren't available.

    De Gea

    Malacia
    Martinez
    Varane
    AWB

    Casemiro
    Fred

    Sancho
    Bruno
    Antony

    Weghorst

Should be enough to get a result at home. ETH needs to tell Casemiro that under no circumstances can he get carded.

It’s almost guaranteed that Casemiro will pickup a yellow and be suspended for the away leg haha.

I was at their game against Celta on Friday as down here on holiday. Based on that game alone (I know) it would be a real shock if they knock us out. Quite a slow team and don't look much a threat going forward compared to past Sevilla teams.

Rashford up against Navas would have been ideal, but Sancho will ask him questions defensively.

Acuna, their Argentinian left back looks arguably their best player and will be a great tussle with him and Antony. He was also sent off, assume it was for dissent

Papa Gueye seemed a miss when he was sent off. Looked about 6 foot 8 but according to Google just over 6 foot. Is he suspended on Thursday as he certainly was fine when he went off on Friday? Assume suspended from last round?

Lamala and Gil offered nothing. Wouldn't fancy them against our defence.

Atmosphere was quality, but don't think will bother our players tbh.

Martial should start imo, front 3 with pace will cause them problems and Casemiro back will be a massive plus.

    3-1 win my prediction
