I actually wasn’t ‘chatting shit’ - we literally had not won a football match by 3 goals all season. I didn’t even expect people to be all coming with the ‘see I told you so’ after us beating Sherriff 3-0, as if that proves we are some sort of top attacking team. I’d been making the same point for weeks saying ‘we can’t beat anyone 5-0’, I just reduced it to ‘3+ goals’ yesterday as we hadn’t even been able to do that. I’m not sure that us beating Sherriff 3-0 at home renders me to have been chatting shit. They play in fecking Moldova. We should really even do better than 3-0, but it was still refreshing to see us win a game by 3 goals at the 15th attempt. That’ll show me. You actually have no shame coming here to ram a 3-0 win against Sherriff down my throat, I actually expected that to be postponed for a more respectable team, but heaven knows when that will come tbh. But even if it doesn’t, I’m still proven to be chatting shit as you will be able to say we beat Sherrif 3-0 in October!

The point is you are unable to see the nuance and point of what I said in the first place. If you could, a 3-0 win to Sherriff does not disprove it. Simply, we are a poor attacking team that doesn’t score a lot of goals and can’t hand out a thrashing. But I’ve been ‘shown’ now I guess!

We should be thrashing Sherriff at home, which is the point of my original post. As I expressed, I wasn’t confident of that. At 3-0, we just about met the threshold of what could be considered a ‘thrashing’, maybe, it’s hardly one to silence all those who said we can’t, come on. Robbie Savage said on commentary from early that United should be looking to score ‘four or five’ tonight. We spoke of ‘racking up goal difference’. If you really want to take a 3-0 win to the bank to show how potent we are then fair enough.

Ah, so I actually referenced a 5-0 win in this thread too.

You thinking I was ‘done in good and proper’ is again down to a lack of nuanced understanding. You also thinking that ‘that’s all there is to it’ again demonstrates only an inability to grasp beyond the most basic of levels. Some people need to hear ‘I don’t mean literally’ clarifications, others don’t. Clearly you do. If you, or anyone, would think that I meant - literally, that this football team or any football team was physically or literally incapable of winning a football match by 3 goals, as in some sort of actual impossibility - then I can’t help you. It should not need to be stated, especially given that we have won two games by 2 goals, that it is not impossible that we can win one by 3 ffs! Especially at home to Sherriff. Again, what I would have thought would be obvious, especially given I actually mentioned 5-0 win - was that I don’t see United as a free-scoring team capable of thrashing anyone. Dominating the game is irrelevant. It is part of my point even, we have dominated many games before last night yet only just recorded out first win by 3 or more goals. I don’t think last night disproves that, however, if you do, then fair enough.

Anyone with proper understanding would see that while the result last night disproved my statement, it did not disprove my point. So while I can accept that the statement has been proven incorrect, I would have also expected people to know that the point was not, which is why I was surprised at so many taking the opportunity this morning.

Anyway, by all means, bask in your victory as I‘m not here to play University English Language Professor. And my apologies if English is not your first language (that isn’t rudeness by the way, a genuine apology).
