Yet more evidence that the diamond is far and away the best formation for us today. Everyone in their proper place, and all our best (available) players on the pitch.

With Di Maria out Herrera fits in without a problem. Falcao doesn't yet look quite fit enough to start, so I can't see anything other than the same team that played the bulk of today's match.

It would be nice to get some youngsters on the bench though - after a flawless performance in the U21 battering of Blackburn, I can't help feeling it would have been worth giving Pearson a little go instead of Fletcher getting his increasingly routine (and entirely pointless) 15 minute run-out.

If not him, it would be beautiful to have Wilson, Januzaj and Pereira all on the bench.
    I agree with everything

I really hope Wilson will be okay for Stoke because Falcao isn't ready for a start and Van Persie must go on the bench

Herrera in for Di Maria from the Hull starting 11 will suit me. People wanting McNair are going to be disappointed. Falcao for RvP is probably the only other possibility I think because the game is so soon and he may need a rest.

Hopefully we'll get another 3 pts.
If Rafael is fit, I think we need a safer approach on choosing the full backs.
Herrera will cover the absent of Di Maria.
Falcao will cover Roo if he absent also.
    My preferred line up :
    -----------------------------------------De Gea--------------------------------------------------
    -----Rafael/Valencia----------Smalling-----------------McNair/Rojo-----------------Rojo/Young----------
    -----------------------------------------Carrick----------------------------------------------------
    -----------------------------Marouane----------------Herrera------------------------------------
    -----------------------------------------Mata------------------------------------------------
    -------------------------Rooney/Falcao------------Van Persie----------------------------------

    3pts is a must

Same team apart from the enforced change of Herrera for Di Maria.
The midfield looks strong and should dominate Stoke's, especially at home.
Unlike today, Valencia and Young may actually need some protection from Carrick and Fellaini.
Unless he needs a rest, Van Persie is a better option than Falcao because he is already match fit.

Valencia and RvP nailed on to start, both big and strong and rested in the late mins v Hull. Smalling, Rojo Carrick and Fellani also looked rock solid and are likely to keep their place in the team.

Questionmarks over Herrera (played with the newbs+Hull), Rooney(probably ready?) and ADM (probably out).
So maybe Wilson and Fletcher will be given minutes. Fletcher looked awful so he sure needs it.

    De Gea
    Valencia--Smalling--Rojo--Young
    Fellaini--Carrick--Herrera/Fletcher
    Mata
    van Persie--Rooney/Wilson

2-1 and third in the table please!!

Fletcher is no more than a ten min player now. To rest a player or see out a game. There is no reason for him to start any games without champions league. And if 2-3 players get back from injury. He wont even make the bench much. As much as iv liked fletchers attitude down through the years. I can see him moving on next summer.

Yup. I'd bring in Evans for Young and move Rojo out to the left. Young did well yesterday but a left back he isn't. Evans is fit and should play.

I'd opt for Falcao ahead of Van Persie, too. We could do with his strength against their defence.

As much RVP had a stinker and we all want to see Falcao do you honestly think he'll get dropped? RVP seems undroppable for LVG at the worst of times so what about coming out of a game with a goal and assist?

Can't see Falcao starting just yet and I think it is best we ease him back into the team. Hopefully he gets minutes in the 2nd half again and get's on the scoresheet. 4-0 United

I expect Rooney will recover in time, but Di Maria shouldn't be risked. Ander Herrera put in a great display after coming in, so him starting over Di Maria in a similar line-up should be fine.

Due to Stoke's usual height advantage, I'd probably play Tyler Blackett over Ashley Young at left back as the only other change. Young did OK against Hull, but he didn't have to do much defending and he was a bit wasteful with his passing going forward too. Maybe Valencia would be dropped or moved forward also for Smalling to play Right Back and McNair to come in, but I don't think that will happen.

RvP won't be dropped despite having a poor game besides the goal, but hopefully that gives him the confidence to push on and go on a run like Rooney has.

    de Gea
    Valencia Smalling Rojo Blackett
    Carrick
    Herrera Fellaini
    Mata
    van Persie Rooney
    --
Lindegaard; McNair; Fletcher, Young, Januzaj; Falcao, Wilson

Can't see anyone else getting into the 18 (mainly because I don't think anyone else is fit). Stoke will come and give a better go than Hull did today, but I'm convinced we'll get the three points and win by a couple of goals.

Van persie stays imo yeah his slow and that maybe less clinical but infront of goal his still one of the best, give him some more service and he will deliver

I wanted RVP dropped for the Hull game (not unreasonably, I think, but still wrongly in the end). This time I'm not so sure. He wasn't great but he was much better than against Arsenal and that goal looks like the sign of a striker on his way back up.

Falcao obviously isn't match fit yet, and should get a half-hour run-out, not a start. And Stoke is not the right match to give Wilson a start because they'll play a fairly deep line and the lad is best when he can use his pace to get behind defences.

So it probably makes sense to start RVP again. Not that LVG will ever do anything else anyway!

Falcao won't start yet he will slowly be eased in week by week with more minutes each game.
I've been saying this for a while now.
People keep putting him in their starting line-up, week after week and he either never plays or plays 20 minutes max.
He's coming back from a major injury which he still has not recovered from.

I'll go with 2-1, Win for Man Utd.
Definitely 3 points for us, though.

    -----------------RvP---------------

Back 4 same as last game, I hope. Only change I would take is having Shaw or Rafael back. Carrick holding, Hererra as sort of playmaker/creative boost. Fellaini should not be dropped, he's in great form right now. Mata and Rooney besides each other with RvP slightly before them, so they can service each other at will.

Sub in Falcao, Januzaj and probably Fletcher.

    Going for 4 nil United.

DDG, Valencia, Smalling, Rojo, Young, Carrick, Herrera, Fellaini, Mata, Rooney, RVP

Falcao to come off the bench. No way RVP is being dropped after scoring. Falcao will only start if Rooney is injured. Very little will change after yesterdays performance... and it shouldn't. Everyone played very well.

same lineup as the weekend and I'd start off with the 3 at the back...

the beauty of it is when we start to exert influence Carrick can step up and dictate the pace and in the absence of Rafael and Shaw, Valencia and Young have impressed

Herrera, Mata, Rooney and Fellaini pick themselves at the minute - I think RVP should start with Falcao from the bench until he hits top fitness......

this game isn't on TV then?

This as I think it's our best back 4 at the moment. I don't care who we play as long as we come out with 3 points and no injuries ffs.

Same plan as the Hull game. Lets play 433 or 4312 diamond.

On the back four I will love Rafael to be back, but not sure if he is fit or not, so probably will be Valencia again there. I would put Smalling and McNair as a CB pair and put Rojo as LB, so Young doesn't have to play there, but Van Gal like his LCB to be left footer so that wont happen. Rojo did really well as CB again Hull so maybe we should leave him there and hope Young can continue to do good there.

Them on midfield will like a three man midfield of Carrick, Fellaini and Herrera. Carrick holding, Fellaini and Herrera both box to box.

Fron three want to see Mata, Rooney and Van Persie for this. Hopefully Rooney is fine as he is having a really great form. Mata did really well again Hull so he should start this one to. Would love that Falcao start this one, but I don't think he is fit enough yet, so RVP will be. Hopefully after that amazing goal from RVP he is coming back to his old self.

So I will like to see something like this.

    DDG

    Rafael/Val...Smalling...Rojo/McNair...Young/Rojo

    Carrick
    Fellaini........Herrera

    Mata.........Rooney
    RVP
Hopefully we can score a couple of goals on first halt so we can bring Falcao earlier in the second half. Will like to see him come in the 60 min. Also would like Janujaz to have play in the Mata role to later in the game, and bring McNair for Young and put Rojo at LB in the 80 min mark.

I'm certain we'll see the Carrick-Fellaini-Herrara midfield again. Stoke will be more physical and more organised than Hull.
Will be a test for McNair if he plays.

It's live on Canal+ in France (as was the Hull match) :)
Incase you feel like paying, not sure if it works internationally but we got a channel called fox sports and incase you don't have a subscription you can buy a single match for 4 euro's or something like that. So check it out if England got one, and else use the dutch one :P

I want to see Falcao and RvP up front with Rooney in behind. Don't think Mata really impressed against Hull.

Anyone know if there's a chance of getting Rafael back? That's the only change I'd make. Valencia's been doing a decent job filling in but Rafa would add a whole extra element to our attack.

    This.

They will play Walters on the right, which may require a more physical presence than Young at LB. Bojan is also beginning to fire for them, so Carrick can't have a lazy day. I can't see Carrick doing another 90 to be honest.

With that team we can control the ball all day. Without Moses Stoke have noone good on the ball in the middle. I'd like to see someone with pace out wide too as their fullbacks are absolutely terrible at the moment. The whole team is all over the place actually and there for the taking.
