He's not just put in for big games, though, is he? If I remember correctly, Fellaini was brought on against West Brom, who ironically were 'relegation candidates' at the time, because we couldn't create anything with Herrera and Mata in midfield, and looked susceptible to the counter.
Well yeah, tough away games and big games in general. Home games against relegation candidates is different. Surely you can see the difference in playing west brom away and Sunderland at home? Even then, fellaini is still better as an impact player coming off the bench to change the game if we need it, not be an instant starter.. Its not necessary to have him in from the start if we're going to look to pass it around a team, but when we look to mix it up when the passing isn't working is when he gets subbed on.

I disagree. It seems that people still have preconceived ideas when it comes to Fellaini. Yes, he's no Fabregas, but he can, and does keep the ball moving at a quick speed, albeit not making any extravagant passes, where I guess that's where you'd want either Mata or Herrera to come in.

Fellaini, since he got put into our midfield, whether people like it or not, has given us balance, in my opinion. Balance that should be needed in every game, regardless of who we're playing. Because we're a team who likes to attack, whether it be at home or away, teams will always try and hit us on the counter, and that's personally where I think Fellaini should come in until we get a new number 8 in the Summer.

P.S. We struggled big time against Burnley at Home, and were very lucky not to concede a lot more than we did.

I sense Falcao will get on the score sheet again finally in this game. Last weekend was horrible so I really hope we can get back on track, should have had third place sewn up and now we're not even remotely certain of top four so it's vital we start a run of decent results again and put in a good display against Sunderland. I hope the players take some responsibility for this not great position in the League we are in and actually play with some passion and quality because we sure haven't seen much this year so far and it's getting depressing!

I'm already accounting for Defoe getting a cheap one here. Hopefully its in the 92nd minute to make it 4-1 instead of 4-0.

As an American, if there was one positive from Jozy's latest foray into English football, it's that you knew he wasn't scoring against United (or anyone, as it were).

It's all about the result for me, to hell with the performance. We have had several months of shit football for it to suddenly improve so definitely I don't care about it anymore and don't wanna waste any hope on it. Just win this one please.

Went for this in lineups game. Screw logics, this is what i want. Bla, bla, Di Maria shouldn't play on the wing, well, i'd like us to give it a go. We're playing Sunderland, let's go all out attacking. As for Young, yep he prob deserves to play but i want Januzaj to have a chance at having a good game. Carrick, Jones and Falcao (i'd rather Wilson) to come off the bench. 4-0.

    --------------- De Gea -------------
    Rafael - Smalling - Rojo --- Shaw
    --------- Herrera - Blind ----------
Januzaj ------- Mata ----- Di Maria
    --------------- Rooney -------------

    Still laughing at Scousers.
Problem today and has been since at least Xmas is no side fears us. Every game is a grind because they all know to press us in our own half. I expect a win as a rebound but anything less than a rout won't be satisfactory enough to get the show moving toward top 4 again.

Really looking forward to this match. Sunderland are pathetic, so I think we will beat them comfortably. I really despise Gus Poyet too, so we better spank them.

My team selection for today is:

    David De Gea.

    Rafael
    Jones
    Rojo
    Shaw

    Blind
    Herrera
    di Maria
    Mata

    Rooney
    Falcao

I really want van Gaal to succeed! As we all do, but he just isn't doing himself any favours with his team selections. I know it's easy for us, the Championship Manager brigade, to criticise but it's so blatantly obvious sometimes; you wonder - is he smoking some of Walter White's finest?

His substitutions are downright mind boggling too. Why take off the two full-backs, hence nullifying our options to bring on forwards. Anyway, still behind van Gaal, but only just.

We will destroy them without RvP and Falcao and with Herrera, Mata etc in the team.

    Can't wait!

    With or without Rooney?
    Rooney up front.

I've got a feeling he's going to give Carrick an hour. He was happy to throw him straight back in before and he's hugely important to us.

    DDG
    Valencia - Jones - Rojo - Shaw
    Herrera - Carrick - Blind
Di Maria - Rooney - Young

He didn't throw him straight back in before. He was on the bench for the Chelsea game and had to come on in an emergency in the City game.

He didn't have to get "match Rythum" through the U21s is what I mean. He's been training all week and is fit but without match rythum according to LVG hinting he won't be playing although doing so in the same press conference he said he won't give away anything about his team's before the game when asked about Falcao.

I'm probably totally wrong but I've got a feeling he will want him back in asap.

I see, I'm expecting just a 20 min run out for him IMO.

I expect us to either draw, or win after a grinding 1-0.

If we don't win this that's top 4 all but gone IMO. I hope we see something like this:

    - DDG
    - Rafael - Smalling - Rojo - Shaw
    - Herrera - Blind -
    - Di Maria -Mata - Young -
    - Rooney -

Mine is almost identical, only Valencia in for Rafael because I don't think Van Gaal will play Rafa. Also, I'd like to see Mata and Herrera play together, but wouldn't be surprised to see Fellaini or Januzaj in midfield.

Yea, I just put Rafa there purely because he hasn't played in a while. Don't know though, it does seem like the end is near for him. :(

Funny you should say that. I think we play better when we're behind. With the exception of last week.

WTF. Shaw is worse than Rafa. Can't stay fecking fit. Evans in defence and Rojo as LB? FFS. Shambolic if true.
